View 2 RepliesI want to make a flower shop using the technologies mentioned in the title. I was thinking about customer/admin login in ajax. I'm using Visual Web Developer 2008 Express and I know a bit of VB.
View 2 RepliesI have HTML page of few tables created by ASP.NET and when I do the "Page Setup" option before printing the paper size is already selected as "Letter" and I want that option to be in "A4". I changed the size of the table but its not working. Is there any page setup information I can put in HTML so that "Page Setup" option can take it from there.

View 2 RepliesThe setup was incredibly easy. The shop was up and running (Local server, for now!) But then I am confused. When the user will purchase a product from my shop, how will I receive the payment?
I searched a lot in order to setup my credit card/accounnt/paypal information in the Admin area, but I couldnt find anything...
I'm having trouble setting up a custom NEW User Screen. Here is my situation, I have a Request for Access Screen that uses the CreateNewUser Wizard Control. I want to leave the Question and Answer for this, however I also want a custom NEW User Setup which I build myself to allow the system administrators to setup users, but for this setup I don't want the administrators to have to pick the question and answer for the NEW user, so I would like to bypass this for this setup. However, my Membership.CreateUser keeps asking for it. How can I accomplish this? I've included a copy of my current web.config file. You will notice a AspNetAdminMemberhip which I use to allow the System Administrators to reset passwords.

I have a good friend who owns a print shop and he has asked me to create him a simple online shop where he can take print orders. His print shop location is kind of hidden, and business isn't going well at the moment. This is why he wants to move online. I said I would do it for him, but it will take a while before he has anything to look at. Where I am most stuck is the Model. The problem with this sorts of shops is that each Product, depending on its category would have different attributes. How ? Here is an example: [URL] A user would choose a product category, then he/she would get to the following: [URL] Now he/she would click the Order link to order a certain qunatity. On the next page, depending on what category they are in, they'll get a form where they can choose order attributes. There aren't many attribues for BUSINESS CARDS. But if they had chosen CARBONLESS FORMS, they would get options to tweak like: Squencial Numbering to start from 103490Position of Numbering..etc
I asked for advice at the SQL Server forums, and finally I came up with something like this:[URL] But with that database design, I will have a lot of type casting to do for the attributes ! << In fact I'm not sure if that would be even possible. Then I watched this video, and the author does something cool ! she uses Inheritance. Then I started Wonding ... Is it possible for me to have a Parent [ Product ] class, and have its children entities with different (added) attributes?
I am doing a website for a toyshop. I have a menu with 3 categories basically. Boys, Girls and Family. When I click these I need to display divs with a picture of each item in that category and information like price etc. Then I need to be able to add the items to a shopping cart.
firstly, which controls should I use to best display the data.
Secondly, how must I handle the cart and paypal stuff??
I am developing a simple online DBMS to browse my database online.... the main concern for me is to clear everything from the PC when the user disconnect so no body can go and click (Back) on the browser and see the pages if the user forgot to close it.. what I have done so far is :
[Code]....
I am sure this is not enough.. am I right? so what else I should include there?
I want to create a Online Exam site in ASP.NET .In that i want to display Test based on the Date and time and the user can take the test at the time set my the Teacher.
For Example:
Teacher want to take C Test for the Mid Semester Test and the test is schedule on 1 May 2010,then the test should appear on the test page on the 1st may only and the user should be able to take the test on the set time.
The problem is that if i use System time then user can change the system time and can take the test schedule in future.
So i want to know how can implement this thing.I have given many online test but dont know how they work out the time and date logic.
For example I need to create middle size internet shop with public frontend and private backend. No silverlight, only html
Is there any sense to use wcf?
If yes, what benefits I will get with wcf?
I have a web setup package project alongside an old .asmx web service. When I build it I only get 'MyService.msi' and not the 'Setup.exe' in the 'Release' folder after build. Normally the .msi suffices for installation, but on Windows Server 2008 R2 I am getting denied from installing the .msi pacakge. I can only install .exe packages after right clicking and stating "Install as Administrator".
The server admin is still new to 2008 R2 and not sure why I can't install an .msi because I am an admin, so for now if I knew how to get that web setup package to generate the Setup.exe file as well I see my other VS.NET setup packages create.

I'm venturing out into the world of Linq and WCF web services and I can't seem to make the magic happen. I have a VERY basic WCF web service going and I can get my old SqlConnection calls to work and return a DataSet. But I can't/don't know how to get the Linq to SQL queries to work. I'm guessing it might be a permissions problem since I need to connect to the SQL Database with a specific set of credentials but I don't know how I can test if that is the issue. I've tried using both of these connection strings and neither seem to give me a different result.

From tools, options, HTML designer, CSS Styling, I checked "Change positioning to absolute...", clicked OK, but never save it. Every time when I open the project, it became uncheck again.
View 7 RepliesAnyone able and willing to post a part of the CSS files they use for production websites? Curious what types of selectors people use and how they configure the CSS rules to connect to the html elements. I know how this all works in practice - I'm curious how professional coders actually organize their CSS rules. I'm starting a new web app and don't want to be constrained by the setups I've seen and used up to this point.

I want to build a web-application for my college which will be used for making a Timetable out of several couses offered on campus. i.e As the user selects a course out of several courses, the selected couse gets filled in a grid.
For e.g. If user selects a course Chemistry-I taught on 'Mon Wed Fri ,3rd hour',the course name gets filled in the grid cells (Monday,3rdHour) (Wednesday,3rdHour) (Friday,3rdHour).
I have a database containing fields 'Course Name' and corresponding 'Days','Hours'. My problem is as the user enters a course name in entry field it gives suggestions for auto completion instantly as the letters are typed.
Like as soon as chem is typed it suggests chemistry I chemistry II organic chemistry etc..
We have Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Professional installed in our labs and I want to learn it by doing tthis project.
I need to create the web setup project
1. the hide the code from the user(dll)
2.need to add some launh condition if the user machine doesn't has Crystal Report for 2008 and Chat controls for .Net 3.5 SP1 i make the project to instal the things first then install the project how to do this
I developed a WCF service, and now reading about the bindings. It s said that TCP binding is the fastest one, which i like to use, but it requires WCF to WCF communication? What s that exactly means?
I have a an application that s on IIS 7, using ASP.NET and a WCF service. they are on different machines. can i use TCP binding?
When i try tcp binding from client (IIS 7) to WCF service, i m getting connection error.
is it possible to connect to WCF service using only tcp binding from another server with IIS 7?
if there is , how to do it? I open the port on firewall etc. oh , wcftestclient works, my app doesnt. :(
again, CLIENT IS ASP.NET PAGE, SERVICE IS WCF, in the SAME NETWORK.
I'd like to implement a ADO.NET/WCF DataService and I am wondering what's the best way to setup a project in VS2008 SP1 for this purpose.
Currently I have an ASP.NET web application project (not of "WebSite" project type). The data access layer is an Entity model (EF version 1) with SQL Server database. I have the Entity Model in a separate DLL project and the web application project references to this assembly for all data accesses.
The ADO.NET/WCF DataService needs to communicate with the Entity model/database as well. It has to be hosted on the same web server (IIS 7.5) together with the web application.
Since the DataService is not directly related to that specific web application (though it will provide and modify data from/in the same database the web application uses as well) my basic idea was to separate the DataService in its own new project (which also references the Entity Model DLL).
Now I have seen that there is no project type "ADO.NET/WCF DataService" in VS2008 SP1. It seems only possible to add a DataService as an element to other existing projects, for instance Web Application projects.
Why isn't there a separate DataService project type? Does this mean now that I have to add the DataService as an element to my Web Application project? Or shall I create a new Web Application project and add a DataService to it? (I could delete the pregenerated default.aspx since I do not need any web pages in this project.)
I am making a web setup of web application. When i install it on client's machine. It asks me for the IIS to be installed. Now please tell me that is there any way to add IIS in prerequisites of setup.
View 2 RepliesHow will i create setup for web application.
View 2 RepliesI am working on VS 2008 and 3.5 framework. I had three windows services. I placed all three in a single solution, created installer individually for each of them. Then created a setup project. When I build it says build failed . But I checked on the errorlist, (i enabled the diagnostics in options menu), but there was no error at all. I went ahead and installed. There were no issues, But there was no service showed up in the services.msc.
I installed each service individually , using installutil command, it showed up. But my requirement is to bundle these services and deploy to the client. The client should install it.
