I've set up URL Rewriting per Scott Guthrie's guidance (Scott's blog - Approach 3: Using an HTTP module to perform extension-less url rewriting with IIS7) and I'm using Url Rewriter.
OK, so it was a piece of cake to setup and everything runs perfectly on the dev server (cassini). I was all excited and put it on the production server and it immediately choked - the site won't even load and instead gives a "500 internal server error"
Production server is a shared hosting environment running IIS 7 in integrated mode , ASP.net 3.5 and SSL.
I have another HTTP module installed called Security Switch , which I disabled to remove it from the equation. I don't think that affects anything since it was already running fine on the dev server and prod server, but I'm not 100% sure and wanted to throw it out there if that helps diagnose.
I've followed the setup instructions precisely, triple checked everything in web.config and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I'm guessing it must be getting stuck in the IIS 7 pipeline somewhere. Can the SSL have something to do with it?
I've tried to implement two different solutions that use either and HttpModule or and HttpHandler to do URLRewriting for me. These work great on IIS 7 within my local development environment in Integrated and Classic modes. Currently the production server is running IIS 6.0 on a shared hosting environment. It appears that the request at least hits both the Module and Handler as the URL above redirect to the particular friendly url, but it doesn't redirect and hit hte Module or Handler again. Instead I get a 404 error for the friendly URL.
So I've read quite a few posts about how to do this, and it's still getting me. I'm trying to control access to a directory, but I continue to get a null session error. I'm doing my check in PostAcquireRequestState
[Code]....no matter where I put this, my session always comes back null. I am using IRequireSessionState on the class as well. Am I pulling the context wrong?
How can I export data from a Gridview to excel and once exported the data should be formatted in right to left (arabic) manner. How can I achieve this?
I am exporting a gridview in MS Excel as mentioned in the following link:
[URL]
I want to set orientation of excel pages as landscape. Is there any way to do that? Any header information to be added for file being exported to set orientation of pages as landscape?
I have a GridView that I want to export to Excel. When I use the sample code I find online, it exports the content to Excel just fine, but for some reason it also clears out all grid lines outside of my exported table.
For your average excel user this is easy enough to fix, but I need this solution to work for everyone.
So then is there a way to export the data in a GridView into an Excel Workbook so that it looks like it was just typed into Excel? I've pasted the code I am using below, assume that a GridView called toPrint exists and has accurate data.
Response.Clear(); Response.AddHeader("content-disposition", "attachment; filename=" + name + "_Registration_Forms.xls"); Response.Charset = ""; Response.ContentType = "application/vnd.ms-excel"; Page.EnableViewState = false; System.IO.StringWriter stringWrite = new System.IO.StringWriter(); System.Web.UI.HtmlTextWriter htmlWrite = new HtmlTextWriter(stringWrite); toPrint.RenderControl(htmlWrite); Response.Write(stringWrite.ToString()); Response.End();
EDIT: Found one partial solution. If I export as a comma-delimited list and set the header to be a CSV file, it opens fine and all grid lines (even those outside of the exported data) are showing. The only problem with this of course is having to strip out every comma and newline character from my values before exporting them.
When I was setting cacheability of the master page to none for ASP.NET 3.5, C# the subsequent pages inheriting master page showed error when trying to Export to Excel a gridview on them.
Error:
Internet explorer cannot download pagename.aspx from IPAddress.
Internet explorer was not able to open this Internet Site. The requested site is either unavailable or can not be found.
above pagename.aspx inherit MasterPage, where cacheability is set to none for Response.
Everything works fine on my dev machine which is running Windows 7. However, when I deploy my app to my production server at MaximumASP running 64 bit Windows 2008 R2 Standard, I just can't access those pages that are handled by my URL Routing logic. I'm getting the infamous "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." error.
The code below is my URL handler for Mailbox module in my application. I've defined mail folders in my database. All this does is if user is looking for /mailbox/Inbox, it looks up the folderID and sends the user the mailbox.aspx page which is expecting a folderID
I am facing a problem wherein, whenever I am trying to export a large recordset to excel (over 50k records) I am getting the System.OutOfMemoryException. I want to know a couple of things :
1. How do I handle this exception as try - catch does not seem to work?
2. I am pasting sample code. I just want to know if there is a better way of doing this :
I am using local reports(rdlc) files for reports generation in Asp.netI am getting following error. Excel Rendering Extension : "Number of rows in the excel sheet exceeded the limit of 65536 rows" How can i solve this error.
I have a report that has authentication set to domain users and users can view the report. However a few of the users are getting permission errors when they try and export the report to excel. They are able to view the report, but cannot extract into excel? Has anyone ran into this before? They are getting this error:HTTP 401 ( You are not authorized to view this page).
How do we findout the whether the application is using any HTTPModules and httphandler in the applicaion? Is there anyway to findout from the url without checking the web.config file?
I got a website [URL] and I want to redirect http://www.example.com/folder to http://folder.example.com so if folder has a page called example1.aspx [URL]
It should be called in this way:
http://folder.example.com/example1.aspx Is that possible that using IIS 7 and asp.net 4.
eg: Folder/StaticPage.aspx?PageName=TestPage is re-written as
Folder/TestPage
This works fine on my local dev. machine on the Cassini server. But when its hosted in IIS (5.1 & 7.0) it fails to work, with the error as 404 Page Not Found.
i have done one small report viewer page i simply use RDLC file to bind the data from database..in this there is one columns for photo to display the images..all the data are disply very well include images also, when i export the report to excel format its downloading, but when i open the exce file its showing below error

I am getting error as sys.webforms.pagerequestmanageparsererrorexception: the message received from the server could not parsed.common causes for this error are when the response is
modified by calls to response.write(),response filters, httpmodules,or server trace is enabled.
I am using Httphandler to access my pages. Have Loginstatus Control on the master pages.
OnLoggingOut for the Loginstatus control I am doing a Session.abandon()... But My session_end
does not get called in the Gobal.asax.I tried link button and everything. but when I take out the httphandler the Session_end gets executed in global.asax
I can handle the full session end on my own but is there any way to call Session_end in global.asax?
