I have been struggling with an issue that sounds like it should be quite common but I can't seem to get the thing working no matter how much I research it!
I am using an AJAX file uploader to upload files (up to 100MB) to the webserver and when the user clicks a button to complete navigate to the next page, I then attempt to move the files off the webserver onto a file server on Page_Load. Both servers are WinServer 2003. There just isn't enough space on the webserver to hold all the uploads once we go live with this solution so I have to get the files off the webserver.
Uploading the file and creating a new subdirectory on the webserver (to hold the file) works no problem at all. When I do the file copy to our file server locally on VS2008, again, no problem. However, when I delopy to the live server and try the same thing, the upload happens ok, but the file copy does not. I get an UnauthorizedAccessException. I don't have access to the webserver myself (but can request it if absolutely necessary) and our file server sits within the same domain (Active Directory).
I do not want to use Impersonation at a high level (web.config), so I tried it programmatically for the purposes of the copy file but it did not work. I used one of our general clerical accounts to pass in the credentials and gave full permission to this account on the file server to create/modify files.
is there any way to copy/transfer files directly from client to ftp server through my web application? user will select files through fileupload control.
Here is the situation. All the machines and users are in the same domain. We are in a domain enviroment. There are some sql server 2005/2008 storing data. There is a ASP.NET site in the domain using the Window Authentication. Now, we need read the data from the sql server and display them using SqlDataSource and GridView. But most of users do not have the direct permission to access the database. Is there any solution to get the data from database and display them on the site without granting users permission?
How to access to the folder drive by using VB.NET or C# in the code-behind (securely: with username and password) for the users to be able to view images on the popup window?
See the code :
Protected Sub BtnServerDrive_Click(sender As Object, e As EventArgs) Handles BtnServerDrive.Click Dim PartNumber As String = txtPartNumber.Text.Trim() 'Calculate the folder 4540 like container Dim NumContainer as string = txtPartNumber.Text.Trim() NumContainer = (txtPartNumber.Text.Trim / 1000 + 1).toString.Split(".").First
[Code] ....
How to achieve this results to access to the server drive to get images for view by using VB.NET or C# in code-behind. Servermappath, UNC, or else?
I have hosted my project in the remote server. i pasted all the dlls & all the necessary files into inetpub->wwwroot ->httpdocs->(pasted all files). In the server we have .net framework 3.5 and IIS 6.0
Now I just want to check whether my files are running locally on the server. So I did the following. Just opened the IIS, made the httpdocs folder as a virtual directory. And then I clicked the httpdocs. It displayed all the files it has in the right side pane. Then I right clicked the default.aspx and then I clicked browse. Now the browser opened with the URL http://localhost/httpdocs/default.aspx. But I could not able to see the aspx page.It just shows "The page is not found"
But when I tried the same steps for opening a .html page it works fine (http://localhost/httpdocs/test.html) I can able to view the html pages.
Whether I need to configure anything on the IIS.... What should I do to view the .aspx files
Following the first site, it had worked but when I´ve moved the pages and files to other folders and set the web.config file on this folder, now it won´t work at all!!!
The file is an *.swf object. I did put the asapi.dll to map the extension on the website root, I´ve put the
[Code]....
on the web.config new folder and on the web.config website´s root.
It won´t work!!! I can access the file directly!!! on the web.config of the folder that contains the file, there is a <deny users="*" /> line.
I am new at asp sites, and just started to use visual studio...
So every page i make, there is another one (source file) linked to it.
Example...default.aspx and with that the default.aspx.vb or default.aspv.cs. I know what those files are for, but how do i protect them from being downloaded from users... Anyone can just type the url, and get my hard work :-/
I'm working on a website that streams audio files for the user from a directory on the server machine. How do I protect the audio files from users being able to navigate to the folder and just downloading them locally, but still provide them access to stream them? If I set permissions on the folder via IIS, is there a level that I can set so that the server can stream but not allow anonymous access?I'm sure there is a tutorial or other thread about this out there, it's just hard to search for this specific issue. Any help or a simple link to another thread/tutorial
I have wav/mp3 files that I want to grant access to only users after signing into my webapp. I have the user credentials being checked through a mySQL db. I do not want the files to be able to be accessed by url. I have found that adding the mime type to the web.config section at
[Code]....
will disallow access to the files by url, but how can I allow access programmically to the files after signing in?? Currently using godaddy hosting.
I have a website running on a IIS 7.5 server with ASP.NET 4.0 on a shared host, but in full trust.
The site is a basic "file browser" that allows the visitors to login and have a list of files available to them displayed, and, obviously, download the files. The static files (mostly pdf files) are located in a sub folder on the site called data, e.g. http://example.com/data/...
The site uses ASP.NET form authentication.
My question is: How do I get the ASP.NET engine to handle the requests for the static files in the data folder, so that request for files are authenticated by ASP.NET, and users are not able to deep link to a file and grab files they are not allowed to have?
I have subdomain "s1" which points to "a" folder. I want to know how could I access to files stored in "b" folder form subdomain "s1". My issue is that files I have some html content which saved in DB Records and their path are base on webroot i.e. "<img src="/b/movie1.avi" /> .Could any one tell me how I could show these files via subdomain "s1"
If a user clicked on a button, which runs a one minute process that MUST stay connected to the file (through the use of FileStream) for writing purpose, and he/she accidentally closed the browser. Currently, when that happens, if the user clicks on the button again, it will return an exception saying that the file is still being used. The part where I write to the file, the code for that is in a class library, which has a destructor (or finalizer, whichever), which calls a Dispose() method. It would usually take about 20 seconds before the file is free again to be used, but is there a way to make it quicker?
I'm thinking the way I'm designing my web app is not the conventional way. How do most people avoid this situation (ie. accidentally closing browser) where a file/resources are not freed up? Do they write into a SQL server instead of a flat file?
I have a webpage where by user can upload jpg file through browse control on my server. Functionality working fine.
I have concern that if any one create virus and assemble it in a form of jpg and upload it on my server which can crash the hard disk or any other disaster.
I want code in VB.NET to create javascript arrays of the folder contents that can then be used on the client end. I only need arrays for all folders contained in folders starting with ad_ and an array for all the base folders . like so:
var folders=["ad_folder","ad_code","ad_prep","ad_bin"]; var ad_folder=["folderA","folderB","folderC","anotherFolder","etcfolder"]; var ad_code=["folderA","folderB"]; var ad_prep=["folderA","etcfolder"]; var ad_bin=["etcfolder"];
note that I do not know the number of or the names of the folders, they can be different in different cases, I only have the root path.
I have a ASP.NET page called admin.aspx that needs to be protected from direct access.
I want it to be accessed only when the user enter his name & password in another page called login.aspx I'm working in ASP.NET with Visual Basic .NET 2008,how to do it.
i want to be able to scan a folder and its sub directories for all the files that exist in it. the results are then feed into a list box or any similar control
additional it would be great if the results are entered and also its path eg: File1 C:folder1folder2file1.exe File2 C:folder1folder2dd.dll File3 C:folder1explorer.exe File4 C:folder1folder2folder3document.docx File5 C:folder1 eadme.txt
We have an application that is currently required to be accessed using two authentication schemes, Forms Auth and Active Directory or NTLM / Windows Auth. The way the application is now, there are two IIS sites pointing to different folders with the same set of files, everything identical except the web.config.Before anyone flames me this was an inherited application, but nevertheless one I am now responsible for. We have an opportunity to do some refactoring and I'm trying to figure out the best way to proceed.
