Installation :: Can't Install .NET Framework 3.5 On Vista
Jun 23, 2010
I tried several times to install .NET Framework 3.5 and Visual Studio 2008 on my machine. I am getting an error during installation Set Up.exe has stopped working and the installation fails. I am using windows vista. Is there any way to solve it and install Visual Studio 2008. I was running Visual Studio 2005 before and I unintalled it completely.
My laptop is running Windows Vista. I recently upgraded it to Windows Vista SP2 and I am trying to install .Net Framework 3.5 on my laptop and whenever I try to install .Net Framework 3.5 I get the following error (error code - 1603):-
54] Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 'package': [2] Error: Installation failed for component Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 'package'. MSI returned error code 1603 [07/20/10,23:05:11] WapUI: [2] DepCheck indicates Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 'package' is not installed.
I downloaded the Beta Version for .Net 4 and Visual Web Developer 2010. Now I want to delete them and get the New versions. It will not delete. Visual Web Developer will not install without the .Net 4 Framework. _____________________________________________________________________________________
OS Version = 6.1.7600, Platform 2 [5/1/2010, 21:52:47]OS Description = Windows 7 - x64 Home Premium Edition [code]...
I have two questions, could anybody please answer to those:1) Do I need to install Dotnet framework 2.0 if dotnet framework 3.5 is already installed on the same server?2) Also do I need to install "ASP.NET 2.0 AJAX Extensions 1.0" if higher version is installed on the same server?
Im trying to setup an environment for my pc , Im trying to learn asp.net , and i dont know how setup this in vista , in php its so easy in wamp, but I dont know here,

Recently I had a weird problem while trying to install SQL Server Reporting Service in my local PC. I am using Windows Vista Home Premium and I wanted to configure SSRS in my PC. During the installation, the setup wizard listed all the services that we want to install and I found that only Reporting Server checkbox option was disabled and I wondered why??? I thought it may be becuase of some installation problem and tried again and its useless... I googled lot of sites for 3 days and finally found that due to some IIS issues, it is not possible to install Reporting Server in Vista Home Premium version. Reporting Server needs some specific IIS features to be installed in the machine.
But unfortunately those features are not available for Home Premium users which in term restricts users not to install reporting server in our PCs... Also, Microsoft has accepted it as an issue and its not possible to get it install in Home Premium...just wanted to share and might be useful for someone like me.
My previous development PC was running Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit and Visual Web Developer 2008 Express. My new PC has Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and Visual Web Developer 2010 Express. My Solution contains 3 projects. The Solution has been converted from VWD 2008 to 2010 fine. There are no errors when I build either of the projects. One of them is not working though. When I start debugging, my default browser does not open (problem 1). When I browse the the website manually, pages of that specific project
I had Visual studio 2008 Team system installed on my machine and tried to uninstall that . When I did the uninstall, am getting a wierd error message "A problem has been encountered while loading the set up components .Cancelling set up". I googled this and found some posts asking me to uninstall all the hot fixes associated with VS 2008 TS .I did that but still am getting the same message.
try to install visual web developer 2010 from web installer,http://www.microsoft.com/express/Downloads/#2010-Visual-Web-Developer once installer screen pop up, it stated that it is not supported for windows vista platform. However, previously before formatting pc, it has successfully installed once.
I have this cenario:One server (machine) that have framework 3.5. And one site (website) developed for framework 3.5.This site can not be modified (rebuild in other FW version, or others changes).
I'll developer a new webapplication (WAP) in framework 4.0 (using microsoft visual web developer 2010).
As I know, the new webaplication work in the server, if I install framework 4.0 in the server.
My question is: Can I install the framework 4.0 on the machine that already have framework 3.5. And continue have sites working with other frameworks version?Or, should I develop my new webapplication in framawork 3.5 ?If I can install the framework 4.0, do I need make some specify configuration during the installation?
Seemed simple. I clicked on install now, downloaded and ran the Web Installer. First, ASP.Net MVC didn't install. I have uninstalled and reinstalled everything twice without luck. The Web Installer insists ASP.NET MVC is already installed. Second, given a nice menu of CMS dbs to try, I tried Atomz, N2CMS and Umbraco. Atom won't work with the net version downloaded via this download, so why is it even included here? I could not figure out what N2CMS or Umbraco wanted in terms of user names and passwords, so those CMS's didn't install. So, what all do I really need to create a website with ASP.Net MVC? Do I need Visual Studio Express (don't we have to pay for this?). I have Win 7 64 Home Premimum.
I have read quite a few posts about this error message but unfortunately none of them addresses my particular problem. The error message is: HTTP Error 404.17 - Not Found
The requested content appears to be script and will not be served by the static file handler. The application was fine until it was migrated to VS2008 and targeted to .Net 4.0. For the sake of debugging, I changed the web page (default.aspx) to simply diplaying the word "Test".The following details do not make much sense because the the corresponding handler of an ASP.Net page is StaticFile
We are developping with .net framework 2.0 on our dev station and we deploy on web server and client desktop a 3 tiers smart client app. what is the impact of ugrading to .net framework 2.0 sp2 on our web servers WITHOUT upgrading on dev station and compilation servers?
My laptop needs a'cleaning. I'm consolidating old projects onto DVD/CD's and blowing away client's client data, like ussno = null, and removing old sales campaign data that I once scrubbed. This is long over due. Anyway, I'm wondering if I can uninstal a few components/items that I rarely or never have used...I have a few older projects written in VS ASP.Net 2003 that are web intranet data entry forms and more recently I've been using 2005 Express Ed. or 2008 Ent. ed. on my desktop and expect to use the web express ed. if I need to work on my laptop.I want to know if I can uninstall VS.Net Ent. Architect 2003 w/out damaging the core VS ASP.Net 2003 IDE?
i just cant install VWD2008.But heres the thing, i have had it installed before along side VWD2010 about a 5 weeks ago. After download everything is ticked and says ok, after i exit, it cant be found, its really starting to drive me nuts and take my life over
I have just transfered my site to a new dedicated server. I have a asp.net 2 using VS 2005 and i have uploaded the site to the server but when i try to run the printing using the crystal reports it only displays a blank page. The server(win 2003) have the default installed softwares:
- IIS 6 - SQL Server 2008 - .Net Frameworks 2,3,3.5,4 - Visual Studio Tools for Application 2.0 - ENU
I have installed the Crystal Reports for .Net Framework 2.0 Runtime but still it doesn't work.I just want to ask if what are the necessary softwares to install in the server to run the Crystal reports?
I already have SQL Server (Developer Edition) installed on my computer. I'm learning ASP.NET by going through some video tutorials. These tutorials use VWD 2008 Express so I'm going to install that version (instead of 2010). Will the VWD installation recognize my existing version of SQL Server and connect to it properly after the install? I read something about VWD Express not working correctly with SQL Server Developer Edition.
