Does The Jquery Validation Plugin Require A Form Tag
Jan 21, 2010I want to validate some asp.net textboxes with the jQuery Validation plugin found at[URL], but it appears that the elements must be between a form tag. If I have just a couple elements, I would hardly call that a form, so I would rather not have them wrapped inside a form element. Is there a way around this? Also, if I have two buttons on the form, a cancel and a submit button and I want the form only to validate when the submit button is clicked, but not the cancel button, how is this accomplished?

Jul 22, 2010I'm building an ASP.NET MVC 2 site where I'm currently implementing an OpenID sign-up form. Unfortunately, I'm foreseeing a possible security bug/vulnerability inside my architecture.
Here's how I want OpenID login to work:
User requests /Account/Login, Controller sends back OpenIDLogin View. User enters their OpenID into the View, then OpenID authorization takes place, and finally the OpenID is returned to the Controller.The Controller checks whether the OpenID is currently in use by a user in the system or not. If it is, the user is logged in to that account. If not, the registration process begins.
And now, the OpenID registration process:
The OpenID identifier, as well as any other information provided by the OpenID provider (such as email address or name), is put into my custom ViewModel and sent to my OpenIDRegistrationForm View.The RegistrationForm View stores the OpenID in a hidden field to make sure that it gets sent back to the Controller.The user fills in the RegistrationForm View and sends it back to the Controller.The Controller creates the user account and puts the OpenID into the database.
The bug that I see within my architecture is that a user could modify the hidden value in the RegistrationForm View. Thus, they could spoof their OpenID! I will make sure to add another round of checking to the final Registration Controller Action to make sure that the OpenID that is provided doesn't exist yet, but there is still a possibility for spoofing. Can my architecture be improved somehow? I don't want this to end badly...
One solution I'm considering is encrypting the OpenID before I send it to the View and then decrypting it when it reaches the Controller. Should I try this?

From those panels i have 2 panels that i need to show based on the provider type. that is., If (ProviderType == "Prime") then hide panel2 Else hide panel3. ex: panel1, panel2/panel3, panel4, panel5, panel6, panel7, panel8. So my question is, I am actually new to this JQuery and I am not sure how to hide the panel content with the headers as well. I dont even want to show the header(i.e., panel2/Panel3) So,I have to display only panel1, panel2, panel4, panel5, panel6, panel7, panel8 (if providertype is prime)

Aug 4, 2010i have a problem while using jquery context menu and update panels. i am writing the javascript of the context menu in the RenderBeginTag of a Customtextbox control using htmlTextWriter. everything works fine, i can right click on every textbox and the menu appears.but when i triger a partial postback using an asp.net updatepanel, the menu won't be displayed. it seems that the binding between jquery and the html is lost when partial post back happened.is there any better way to place dynamic javascript code other than in RenderBeginTag ? how can i solve this issue?

May 3, 2010I have some basic html inside an asp.net update panel. Using livequery, I set up autocomplete, blur and keydown events so that they all continue to be wired up after the update panel does a partial page load. When the page initially loads, all the events work fine but after the update panel does a partial page reload, none of the events wired up with livequery continue to work. Are there known issues with livequery and update panels?

It seems though that each panel has to have the same height, as when I have changed the height of one of the panels, the other panels change to the same height.I have been setting the height of the table object in the div to do this.Is it possible to give each accordion panel a separate height, and if so how?

Can Use Jquery To Show Or Hide Panel On Button Click
Feb 1, 2011I have a panel at the top of my page which contains some cascading dropdown lists. Once the user selects from the lists, they will click a 'Search' asp.net button and a gridview will appear below showing the search results. What I want to do is use JQuery to toggle the visibility of the search panel. I tried using the Ajax collapsiblepanelextender but ran into all kinds of problems, because there are many updatepanels and ajax extension controls on this page. It sounds so simple, just hide or show, but I can't get it to work. When I click the button, the panel hides. When I click it again, the panel does not reappear. I have also tried having 2 buttons, 'hide' and 'show', and had the same results. right now here is my code:

JQuery Animation Not Working On Page With Update Panel?
Nov 16, 2010I've had a look around to see if this has been answered, and there are many similiar questions here but none that match the problem I'm having, so here goes.
I have a jQuery animation that runs on all pages. It works fine on all pages except those with a .NET Update Panel. The items that are animated are not part of the Update Panel at all, they have nothing to do with it.
When I click on the button that triggers the animation in question, it doesn't do anything. It gets called alright (a quick alert("clicked!"); proved that) but it simply doesn't do anything. It sometimes looks as though it's trying, but failing, but there are no JavaScript errors reported.
From other similiar questions and answers here, people have suggested using jQuery's .live() and also the PageRequestManager.getInstance().add_endRequest() but none of these are valid here, as the items are outside of the Update Panel. (I've also given them a try, just in case!)
it appears that clicking the button that causes the animation is actually causing the update panel to reload, am not sure why as they're all set to conditional and have triggers associated with them.
