View 3 RepliesI have added a jquey menu in my master page its working fine for those asp.net pages which are at the same level as master page.
But this menu isn't working at all for all of those page which aur in Editor's and Admin's folder. In these pages menu is displaying as simple html menu and unfortunately no jquery effect is shown on it.
I'm very confused why this menu isn't working for the pages which are in a seprate folder while the master page is added at the root level outside of all these folders.
I have a nested master page. A parent master page, a child master page and a content page whose master page is the child master page. I have a reference to jQuery in the parent master page in the head section.<script type="text/javascript" src='<%#ResolveUrl("~/includes/jquery-1.4.2.min.js") %>' ></script> & Page.Header.DataBind(); in the OnLoad event.
I am using jQuery in all the pages including the master pages. However I am getting "Error: $().ready is not a function" in the content page. If I include jQuery reference in the content page it works. Question: If the reference to jQuery is in the master page head section, why aren't the content pages able to use jQuery? When I do view source, the script tag with jQuery is there and it works. The master pages and content page are merged during rendering and sent to the browser as a single html page so I am not sure when master pages are used, jQuery references break.
UPDATE:
When I changed '$.ready(function()' to 'jQuery(document).ready(function($)' it worked! I am not loading any other javascript libraries and I am not using MS Ajax.
I am wondering if it's possible to work on Content Place Holder window without seeing master page template?
The second problem i've noticed is that when i try to add a table (1 row, 3 columns) to my content place holder and then try to adjust the width of those columns the whole layout of my page is getting messed up to the point that i have to use ctrl+x to go back to previous stage. The master page was very complicated but i finally got it to work and i don't understand why while i manipulate contentplaceholder the layout of the master page is being affected. (only when adjusting tables)I am new to Visual Studio and was wondering of any known standars in that matter.
The pages on my project are base on master and content pages...
I want to do something with javascript(rather than jquery) in one of content pages after ALL OF MASTER AND CONTENT ELEMENTS ARE LOADED COMPLETELY.(for example set focus on a RadComboBox Control)
For doing that I used the below code :
<asp:Content ID="Content1" ContentPlaceHolderID="head" runat="server">
<script src="../JQuery/jquery-1.4.1.js" language="javascript" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script type="text/javascript"> [code]...
But alert(combo); always returns null.(the $find code is for telerik controls and the upper codes about telerik controls are completely true)To solve this null problem I test the ways shown below:
1-I Removed all of controls from master and content page except RadComboBox Control and null problem disappeared , so i derived the null peoblem is about all of elements of master and content page have not been loaded when
$find("<%= RadcbPersonelCompleteNameInvwNoskhehEdit.ClientID %>"); is fired.
2-so i used $(document).ready(function() { my codes }); instead of onload = onloadOfDocument;
3-at last i test the below code and it works perfectly :
<asp:Content ID="Content1" ContentPlaceHolderID="head" runat="server">
<script src="../JQuery/jquery-1.4.1.js" language="javascript" type="text/javascript"></script> [code]...
What function of document should i use for doing some javascript codes after all Of MASTER AND CONTENT ELEMENTS are loaded completely?
Problem: Postbacks are causing eventtarget errors because they are going back to the aspx page where the tabs are defined instead of going to the href page. I have a main page called Default.aspx. On it is the setup for the jquery tabs using ajaxoptions.
Default.aspx javascript for tabs:
[Code]....
The dropdown is filled during the page load of lists.aspx. How can I get the postback to go to lists.aspx instead of back to the Default.aspx? I tried using IFrames and it worked great for postback issue but not for dynamic loading of pages. It loaded all pages up front which is not ok.
I have a web page using MasterPages built in Visual Studio 2010 Pro. Currently, in the Head of my MasterPage file, I have my reference to my jQuery 1.4.2 file. When I go to a content page referencing the MasterPage I don't get any jQuery intellisense support. (Looks like I just get JS support?) What is more frustrating is the lack of Intellisense in my User Controls (.ascx) - It makes sense though since VS has no idea knowing if my UC will be loaded into a MasterPage referencing the jQuery.
My Scripts folder has one file - jquery-1.4.2.min.js
[Code]....
I have a master page in asp.net and a content page with some basic asp.net controls like textbox, buttons, treeview.i have a jquery script in the content page and reference set to the jquery file..The script changes the text property of a button on the keydown event set for the textbox...the script works fine if i copy and paste it in a normal page...the script only ran once when i worte it for the first time the next day when i tried to run the script it was not working..i m facing this problem for running the script in content page and i a m not aware of how to write jquery script for the content page.
View 4 RepliesI think my main problem is actually more to do with master pages that anything else.. Below is a description:
If you use master pages in your website and you have pages in different sub directories then the simplest way to add JQuery references is using <script src='<%# ResolveUrl ("jq.js")%> /> in the master page header??
This means that the .js files are correctly referenced in all pages that use the master. My main problem is that intellisense only seems to work for JQuery when the JQ Script is actually referenced in the header and not by using ResolveUrl('') <script src="/scripts/jq.js" />
I dont want to have to live without intellisense, Surely there is a way to get around this. What am I doing wrong.
I have over 300 content pages to create. Each has some standard styling. I would like to generate these pages, and was just wondering if there is a utility in web developer 2008 express to do so (otherwise I will just build one - but it would be great not having to do so!)
View 1 RepliesI have a main master page, say MasterPageMain, and a couple of folders with couple of pages in each folder which act as a child page to that master page - MasterPageMain.
Now, I have about 10 pages in one of the folder which follows a certain pattern and they could really use a nested pages since any change on some parts needs me to change all the pages which is a pain really.
I already added a Nested master page, say NestedMasterPage - which is a child of MasterPageMain
I tried to change one of the page's <%@ Page directive to NestedMasterPage, immediately, there were a lot of errors. plus I dint know where the NestedMasterPage's children content would go.
What do I need to know in order to do this succesfully?
ps: I dint do this initially because I only had 2 pages, and I dint need this at that time, as the project grew, now i see that I should have changed it much earlier..
How can we add titles to each content pages which inherits from mater pages in asp.net?
View 1 RepliesI will be getting data through wcf service coming form commerce server (instead of DB). Data which is coming will be in the form big html content with all html tags or may be a single line sentence. I should display this dynamic data into the placeholder in the content page (master content page). I have been trying but not able to load when the data is in the form of HTML page. html content or may be single lline of senetence.

How to I put this form on my page? The problem is I have a master page which wraps the content pages content in the ASP.net form, I can't nest the forms.
how can i add title and meta tags for content pages in a project base on master and content page(dinamically) ?
i used the blow method for master page :
[code]....
and the error is :(in line *)
Error 17 'System.Web.UI.MasterPage' does not contain a definition for 'SetMetaTags' and no extension method 'SetMetaTags' accepting a first argument of type 'System.Web.UI.MasterPage' could be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)
I'm attempting to set a class on the body tag in my asp.net site which uses a master page and content web forms. I simply want to be able to do this by adding a bodycssclass property (see below) to the content web form page directive.
It works through the solution below but when i attempt to view Default.aspx the Content1 control loses its content.
Here is how I'm doing it. I have a master page with the following content:
[code]....
My requirement was to share master files among diff projects i read this doc [URL] so i use this technique to share msster pages among my diff projects in a soln but i dnt know how to reference such shared master page as if i use such
<%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" MasterPageFile="../masterPages/masterInvGen.Master"
Is it possible with ASP.NET Master Pages to create content pages dynamically? That is, I know we can create content dynamically, but the content pages themselves, can those be created programmatically? I want to give my users the ability to define new content pages (i.e. Categories: Sofas, Tables, Lamps, and add/delete as they see fit) through a management panel. The resulting content pages should have proper URL naming, so that they index properly. An example: http://www.example.com/products/Lamps/contentpage.aspx.Is there a demonstration of this somewhere I can view?

View 2 RepliesI'm trying to use jquery lightbox functionallity when a user clicks on a button in my View, to give a friendly message "Please wait whilst we generate your data etc" whilst the second view that contains a lot of data is being generated. I was hoping to have the friendly message stay on the screen until the second View is ready to be displayed. At the moment the form submit button fires the popup but the button itself is not getting clicked, only the surrounding anchor tag:
<a id="inline" href="#data"> <input type="submit" value="Submit" /></a>

I am in need for setting content expiration to immediate for certain parts of my website. Basically we want to expire the "shopping" pages but the browsing pages shouldn't expire allowing users the ease of using the back button to browse around. Is there a way to enable it per page, master page, folder, or something?
View 1 RepliesI am working on a page which is using a Master page for some default design, I need some css class to be added to the conent page, which we add normally in script tag in normal pages, My question is how to add some css content in a page which is using Master page,
View 2 RepliesI have an asp.net content page which is used inside of a master page (with header, menu and some links). I would like to reuse it in a different context without the master page (to not display the header and menu there), or with an empty master page if this is somehow possible. I don't want to violate DRY principle by taking the whole page and creating a standalone clone of it for obvious reasons. Is this somehow possible ?
