have once posted a question but am really not sure how can I go about using AJAX to do it. Some have suggested using jQuery but I'm not sure how to use the jQuery so any suggestions on ASP.NET AJAX? I've already got the codes for the non-AJAX method(using a select statement), but thought that AJAX will be more dynamic.

I have a textbox on blur function.I'm calling a Jquery function which work call a webmethod on the cs file returning true and false.I am using JSON.This whole functionality is working on local and when i give a alert(result.d).It gives proper result when working on the server i.e 0 or 1.But when i do that on server,it returns undefined.I have used json.

I am having a big problem with the OnTextChanged event of a textbox....
I have tried several different scenerios and just don't seem to be getting it to work right...
I either get a full page postback which is not what I want or get a very peculiar extra textbox added to my page after OnTextChanged is executed...
currently the update panel is working as expected but it inserts an extra textbox into my form "magically"... so strange...the textbox that is added keeps a running history of what is submitted...you can take a look here at the behavior.. it is the email form in the middle of the page

I have a custom user control with some input fields and a submit button. I need to validate the fields using the jquery validation plugin when the submit button is clicked. (The function of the submit button is to create another custom control which displays the data entered in the above mentioned control)
Bt as far as I knw, validation plugin works only with form validation ryt? And my custom control does not contain a form tag as I am using master pages. The custom control is present in one of the content pages and the master page already contains a form tag with a runat=server attribute. And I guess one page can contain only a single form tag with runat=server attrib ryt?
So how do I get it to work?
I am writing a registration form which will store all the information to the database. I need to validate some data before saving like empty and isunique.
I have username and email address field in my form. I used CustomValidator to call a function check unique to execute my code to check the given email address with the list in database.
It works fine for new case but when i am for edit case it does check with itself and reports already in use.
My Steps:

I'm getting this error code in a voting system which I made.
"Violation of PRIMARY KEY constraint 'PK_Awards'. Cannot insert duplicate key in object 'dbo.Awards'. The statement has been terminated."
It's good because it means I am stopping people from voting twice, however, I want to display an error message in the site, and I want to make this occurance user friendly, as I have no idea how this error will look when the website is live.

But when the user clicks on the 'CreateUser' button, how do I display a message on the form to show that the User is created. View 3 RepliesI simply want to display a message on the login page when the user is automatically redirected there after requesting a page that they were logged in for but their session has now expired. So essentially if the user was working but stepped away for a lunch break without logging out I want the system to tell them why they were sent back to the login page.
Something like "You have been idle for too long so you must log back in".
This has to be easy I am just running into a wall here. I thought about getting the original ticket and reading the expiration date but I'm a little lost.

so i used response.write() first to display error msg and then response.redirect() to redirect the user to another page...
but im unable to see the error msg...it just redirects to other page...is there any other way to display error msgs???

For an MVC 2 app that relies on many partial views and almost exclusively uses Ajax for POSTs/GETs, what would be the best way to implement the setting, passing, retrieval and display (using a JavaScript modal) of these messages?
My forms all POST (by way of jQuery $.ajax) to actions that return partial views (html) that are used to update a in the "success:" part of the $.ajax function.
I was hoping for some sort of mechanism in the master view that could "listen" for any messages that any of these partial views might be "delivering"--through their ViewData, for instance.
