Why is CultureInfo.DisplayName in [Sami][1] all of a sudden? I use it to display a list of country names. Not a good idea perhaps but it worked until recently and I'm quite sure it was in Swedish (I guess it could have been English.)
View 2 RepliesI am Using javascript calander to select date into textbox. I have Set the Date Format MM-DD-YYYY . Now when i convert this text string to DateTime then my Actual month of date is changed.
IFormatProvider theCultureInfo = new System.Globalization.CultureInfo("en-GB", true);
DateTime date = DateTime.ParseExact(txtDate.Text, "mm-dd-yyyy", theCultureInfo);
For example If i Put in Text Box 2-12-2011 (12 Feb 2011) Then After Converting It will 12-01-2011 00:02:00 .
i am store ms word resume to image(BLOB) data type in sql server 2005. now i want to display this resume in HTML page or in text area. and for that i use

convert below datetime value which is as varchar datatype to another datetimeformat as varcharchar datatype

Does the DateTime object stores the CultureInfo with it, or you need to use the Formatter to format the DateTime according to current culture ?
I have a class property that retuns a DateTime. Within that property I am setting the DateTime object with current culture information using CultureInfo object. Below is the code for class property I am using:
public DateTime PrintedQuoteDate {
get{
DateTime printQuoteDate = DateTime.Today;
// cInfo = CultureInfo object
return Convert.ToDateTime(printQuoteDate , cInfo);
}
}
So my question is when I will use the above property in my code, will it have the corrosponding culture information that I am setting in its get method, or I will have to use the same CONVERT code for formatting date time. The restriction here is that the Property should return only DateTime type.
I want to format my numbers throughout the application in a consistent way, no matter what culture is chosen. In fact, it's "non-standard" even for the basic culture that we're using.
I want to format "{1500.50:c}" as: '1500.50', but the standard for my culture 'nl-NL', is: '€ 1.500,00'. We don't have the user-rights, since it's a webapplication, to register custom cultures, therefore we're looking for a runtime solution.
We want a "set and forget" solution. Not a Util class with static (extension) methods, but an application wide solution, so we can continue to use the standard .ToString("c"), or ToString("N") logic, which would follow our custom rules. This would be to alter the .NumberFormat of the Culture, but how? Everything seems to be readonly.
I could definitely accomplish what I want with a custom handler, but I was hoping it would be possible to adjust the web.config to define allowable cultures. Basically, I have a website that has resource files for a number of languages. I would like to deploy the same website to different domains with different configurations specifying the default cultures. I know I can set a specific culture to be used in the web.config, but can I also specify multiple cultures? Even though I have English language resource files, I don't want a visitor from the US to certain domains to see the English version, but I can't fix the site for a single culture, either.
View 1 RepliesI have an ASP .NET Web Forms application that makes use of the 'WebMethod' attribute for making AJAX calls from jQuery. I'm dealing with trying to localize the application so I recently created a web method that looks something like this for testing purposes:
[code]....
I have an HttpModule that is setting the 'CurrentCulture' and 'CurrentUICulture' properties of the current thread to 'pt-BR' (Brazilian Portuguese) at the 'BeginRequest' event.
Client side, I have a jQuery AJAX call to this 'HandleDate' web method that is providing the dateValue parameter as '18/10/2010'. In the 'pt-BR' culture this should evaluate to October 18, 2010 (day/month/year date format).
When I execute this I'm getting back an error indicating that the 'System.Web.Script.Serialization.ObjectConverter' is blowing up stating that '18/11/2010' is not a valid value for DateTime. The stack trace included with the error indicates that this was thrown by the 'System.ComponentModel.DateTimeCoverter.ConvertFrom' method, which accepts the object to be converted in addition to a CultureInfo object representing the culture that should be applied during the conversion.
I fired up Reflector and it appears that the 'ObjectConverter' is invoking the 'DateTimeConverter' using CultureInfo.InvariantCulture instance, which I think is the problem.
How can I force this logic to use the CultureInfo attached to the current thread instead of the InvariantCulture?
how can i convert string written in eng to hindi. For label i know, is there any why to convert string.
View 4 RepliesI found the solution. Just override InitializeCulture().
View 1 RepliesI'm developing a internal web app for a foreign friend.
Since many of the users don't speak english very well, I wanted to add local translation to the web.
It's been a while since I've used .net, and perhaps I'm getting a little bit rusty, but my Localized resources are not working for some reason.
I have a Default.aspx.resx in my App_GlobalResources folder and inside it a small resx file. It simply has one test string: "Button" with the value of "Botón", nothing complex there.
Then I have the test controls: <asp:Localize runat="server" ID="test" Text="Button" meta:resourcekey="Button" /> and <asp:Label ID="header1" runat="server" Text="Button" meta:resourcekey="Button" />
But this isn't updated. Things that I've tried:
1. Put UICulture in the Page Tag
2. Renamed the resource file to Default.aspx.es.resx
3. Put my browser in 'es-ES' locale
4. Tried to load the resources explicitly inside <%%>
I have mulitlanguage platform in place - need to have the HEADER LOGO.PNG on my site to change with my language-button function.My startingpoint is this from my Masterpage :
<div ="top">
<a href="default.aspx"> <br />
<img alt="Logo" src="Images/Logo_white.png" width="780" height="148" border="none" class="logo" /></a>
[code]...
I am trying to localize my wesbite from English to Spanish. The website is built in Spanish. I have done such work perfectly in a html website but i do not have experience with .net localization. I know only Resource files are need to be translated.

View 9 Repliesi am jqgrid which is binded dynamically using json datatype.my problem is with pageing.
I wrote the script for jqgrid in AddCategory.aspx and redirected this page to AddCategoryGrid.aspx where i wrote the code for binding jqGrid data.

I bind a member's ID (primary key of type Int32) to the selectedvalue of a ddl, and the user name to the text. This has worked fine until now. I have just exceeded 255 members and it is crashing when I bind any member with an ID value 256 or greater.My error is, "'ddl3HomePlayer' has a SelectedValue which is invalid because it does not exist in the list of items. Parameter name: value"I think the problem is that a ddl.selectedvalue can't exceed 255. Is this correct? How do I set the selected value to type Int32?
View 4 RepliesI'm not sure if this problem is isolated in MVC2 or if it's isolated with the DataType.EmailAddress, but that's what I'm working on.
Anyway, I noticed that no validation is performed at all on my field marked with [DataType(DataType.EmailAddress)], both on client and server.
Here is the Model:
[Code]....
Here is the View:

Here are the Controller Actions:

Validation for the [Required] attributes are working fine. It's the DataType.EmailAddress that never gets checked at all. My ModelState.IsValid returns true even if I enter "x" as my email address. Haven't tried the other DataTypes, so I dunno if this is just for the email or for all types.
I have a web application which talk to Oracle for Database Operations.I want to what will be the equivalent datatype for float in c#.ie for Oracle Varchar2 , in c# we can give string like that for Float in oracle what will we give in C#
View 1 RepliesI'm working on an application that has a large number of inputs for certain types (50 money inputs, 30 date inputs etc). I have been creating an CompareValidator for each one to make sure users are putting in the correct information but I am curious if there is an easier way to create the validation once and apply it to all desired inputs? Writing out 80 validators that do basically the same thing seems like a waste. Am I missing something that already does this in .NET or are there anything out there that can make validation easier?
Note: All validation needs to be done on both the client AND server side. I've read a little about ASP.NET MVC validation but unfortunately that won't be an option here.
Can anyone tell me what datatype i should use for STartTime and EndTime.
StartTime value will consist values like Off,Vacation etc apart time.
This is actually a situation where LINQ as follow:
Code:
Dim query = From loadedfile In dtloadedfile.AsEnumerable() _
Join householdPanels In dtHouseholdPanels.AsEnumerable() _
On CType(loadedfile("Household_number"), Integer) Equals _
[code]...
when i get to col.DataType = t.PropertyType, i hit an error where it says Nullable datatype is not allowed. I know the t.propertytype returns nullable as datatype, however, this nullable type do have a normal datatype declared too. ie Of System.Nullable(Of Integer) from the LINQ query. But how do i get that information?
ps: this function is taken somewhere from the web, so you might recognise it.
In MSSQL server 2005/2008, we have one column (in a table) declares as "Image" type. What data type in C# so I can grab that value in that column in our class? Can string handle it or byte[]?
View 1 RepliesI have a tabe related to songs which has columns like songID, album, Artist, track etc. I want the data for track to be entered in the format 1/2, 2/2 like this. What shpuld b the datatype of this value? If I'm entering a new data or updating the columns from a web page how can I check the track textbox to enter the correct value? Can I use any validation control? if so how can i use it?
View 6 RepliesHow can I get asp.net to two-way databind (via Bind("myfieldname")) to a Byte value? I'm storing boolean values in Sql Server to a Byte type and it seems to be looking for boolean. Apparently I need something to convert my datasource's Byte
Looked into creating a method to call like MyConvertMethod(Bind("myfieldname")) but asp.net 4.0 did not allow that with "Bind()" though it allowed it with "Eval()" but Eval only seems to do one way databinding. I looked into the ConvertHandler but seems to be winforms and not webforms.
