How would you handle an out of memory or out of disk space error? I would like to log the error and then show the user an error page rather than have the user see the actual error message thrown by the server.

but still the same error. the problem occured suddenly. How should I fix it?
New project requires that the server space be displayed and what the total content is of a folder. Where can i find information on how to do this? can someone provide a small sample or links to information i can review.

I am confronted with an error I didn't receive on my development machine (windows 7, iis 7.5, 64 bit).
When my wcf service tries launching my query running against a local sql server this is the error I receive:

To resolve this, either reduce the load on the machine or adjust the value of minFreeMemoryPercentageToActivateService on the serviceHostingEnvironment config element.
I have both VS 2005 and 2008 installed on my machine. 2005 is fine. For 2008, literally any asp.net project I try to create gets this eror. I try stepping into the code, and the error occurs apparently before anything that I can trap is loaded. There is no information written to the event log. I have tried this with a "Hello World" webpage with nothing else going on. Seems unique to my Windows Server 2003 machine.

But (as expected by default) the execution steps right over these. Is there some way to turn on the logging? Or is that just something that the framework developers can do while making special builds of the framework?

I will try and be brief, I am finding when trying to create a custom route with a name and url of properties that my ASP.NET MVC app is returning a 404 file not found when hitting the route.I have deduced this down to most likely be caused by the fact I have a folder on disk called Properties which is of course a common asp.net folder which is automatically created. I have found someone else who has suffered from this problem on SO, but looks like there has been no resolution, only to name your route something different!
Surely this is an oversight, or there must be a workaround? Obviously there will be many common directories you may need as routes and/or folders interchangeably, some of which we already know like Properties probably can't be deleted! I also understand we need to honor real folders as URLs too, but I feel routing should take priority before looking at folders on disk.
I'm using MS Enterprise Logging Application Block in an ASP.NET website.
For production launch, I will set up a log listener in one of these locations:
Sql Server database
Windows event log
Text files
Which has the least impact on performance?
NB - I can't switch to Log4Net or ELMAH at this point, so don't suggest that in your response.

I have a web application and console application with the same Ent Lib config but only the console application is capable to log into the Event Log. I tried everything with permissions but I don't know what exactly I am doing — which services should have what. It does not work!
I read articles like this[URL] and I want to try to give the ASPNET account those permissions. I am using Windows 7 and I cannot find ASPNET user account. So where is it?

Is there a way to set the RequiredFieldValidator to use display:none (or something equivalent) unless there is an error? The problem that I'm having is that the error text in the validator is taking up space even when there is no error on the page.

I just published my website to a server. Using this server I get the following error when I click on an image to view it:

I am maintaining C# .NET code written by somebody else, I get following exception few times,Attempted to read or write protected memory. My doubts are ,1. Is passing reference variables in such chain is correct? will it cause such exeption? Does .net support ref variable call directly?

I'm tearing my hair out here - I'm building a .NET web application at the moment and every time I either want to access the database/build a page or create a new datasource I get the following error:A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the login process. (provider: Shared Memory Provider, error: 0 - No process is on the other end of the pipe.)I also get it in SQL Server Management Studio 2008 quite a lot too. I know what you're thinking - search the web for the error, read what the nice people have to say. Only I've spent the last week or so doing this, and I'm no closer to resolving this.
