I was able to find examples throughout the internet that more or less accomplished what I needed to be done, but now I have run into some problems. I need to be emailed the form data when the users submits it and then the user needs to be redirected to a thank you page, in this case "thanks.asp". I have been unable to get the form to redirect users to the thanks page, and in my efforts I think I might have messed the email process up as well.

i have a form which has two textboxes and a submit button.on entering data and submitting data gets stored in the database.but if i again refresh the page the same data again gets stored.How should this be prevented?
View 3 RepliesI have created a form with Field Validators for visitors to fill out on my website. When the form is submitted it inserts a record into a SQL database, sends an email notification and opens a Modal Popup. In the Modal popup are links where visitors can then download trial software.
My problem is that even if the form does not validate correctly, so there are no errors, the Modal Popup is still displayed. Does anyone know how I can make it so the form has to validate correctly before the Modal Popup will be displayed? I am somewhat of a newbie to ASP.NET,
I know that I can receive an javascript object from the server via ASP.NET AJAX using Json. But I am not sure how can I send an javascript object from my client-side javascript to my server-side code. And if I can, how can I extract this object in my server-side code and access its members?

View 13 RepliesCurrently I have a comments section integrated into a blog I am writing. The comments are Ajaxified, when you post a comment the comment list auto updates with the comment you just added. Everything is working great but I would like to do some cleanup after a comment is successfully posted. Specifically I would like to disable the textarea and submit button which I would have no issues doing through javascript by using the AjaxOption OnComplete parameter. To avoid double posts or just plain abuse. I know I will need other safegaurds as well but this is my first step. The thing is Ajax.BeginForm does not give the form an id or name so I can not reference the form in javascript. Is there a workaround here? Can I disable these form controls from the controller?
Here is my code.

There is a example: Combining JQuery Form Validation and Ajax Submission with ASP.NET by Haack
I just want to use AjaxSubmission to asp.net forms from there.So, it works in simple cases when input id is like "submitButton".
<input type="hidden" name="<%= submitButton.ClientID %>"
value="Send Comment" />
<asp:Button runat="server" ID="submitButton"

UML and Patterns: An Introduction to Object-Oriented Analysis and Design and Iterative Development, that follows the UP(Unified Process). It uses a Grasp Controller pattern to interact with domain classes by some methods like NewSale(), AddNewItemToSale() and CloseSale. In windows form, I can instantiate a object of this class in the UI and then use its methods to perform the actions. This works well in Client apps, but when I use asp.net mvc, I cannot find a way to instantiate an object (one for each user) that was always visible for a Controller (MVC). I cannot insert as an attribute inside Controller because it always create a new one.

in a form i have a buttoin, when click both OnclientClick and postback should happen. on clicking the "Email" button a client side "mailto" tag should do the work and pull a new message window on the client's machine.
whereas, the email addresses should be invoked by the post back. so , when clicking the button the server side post should happen and on return the client side script should be invokded with the values read during post back, and populate all the email addresses.
i need know how to first do a server hit take the values and then execute the client script with those values without using AJAX
I am calling server side methids from client side using PageMethods. Can those methods return value back to client side. If yes then how and if no then how can that be achieved? refer to my code below.

I am using VS2010 and .NET4 for a web app. I have a script manager/update panel that has a couple of grids.
The client just leaves the page opens and views an updated grid every 30 seconds or so.
I want to refresh the grid by calling the server side method to load the grid, but not load the whol page using meta refresh or similar (too much screen flicker and unnecessary bandwith).
Is it possible to set some timer using javascript or something and call a specific server method to refresh controls?
I want to do something a little bit tricky here. I want to call a server side fonction from the javascript. I know it can be done but I get some errors. This is my Javascript fonction where I want to call the server side fonction:

I'm working on a forum application using MVC 2.0. I've built a basic page listing all the forum posts, held in a database and I've added a simple section on the bottom for a user to add a new post:
<% using (Ajax.BeginForm("AddChat", "Chat", new { text = Model.AddChat.Text}, new AjaxOptions { OnSuccess = "handleSuccess" }))
{%>
<%: Html.ValidationSummary(true)%>

I'm working on getting a new MVC 3.0 application up and running on a Windows 2008 server, running SQL05 and IIS7 with ASP.NET Framwork 4.0 as well as MVC installed. The index page has two select boxes. Selecting an option in the first select box does an ajax call to my controller that populatest the second select box. This works just fine on my winxp dev machine but returns a 404 on the call to the controller when running
on the server. Code for that call:
<% Html.EnableClientValidation(); %>
<% using (Html.BeginForm("CamperDirectory", "TradingPost")) { %>
Select a Season: <%: Html.DropDownListFor(x => x.SelectedSeason, new SelectList(Model.GetSeasons, "Value", "Text"),"Please select a Season.") %><br /><br />
<%: Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.SelectedSeason)%>
Select a Session: <%: Html.DropDownListFor(y => y.SelectedSession, new SelectList(Model.GetSessions, "Value", "Text"), "Please select a Summercamp Session.") %>
<%: Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.SelectedSession)%>
<input type="submit" value="Go" />
<% } %>

I have a simple model where a Person has Gifts. I have a view which is a list of Gifts belonging to one Person.
My problem is with the Create action for a new Gift. I want it to default to the PersonID that we are already viewing the list of Gifts for. I tried simply passing the last PersonID (they are all the same)
Html.ActionLink("Create New", "Create", new { id = Model.Last().PersonID }) which works fine if there is already at least one Gift for that person but if this is the first Gift I don't have a value.
My Gift List controller knows the PersonID I want to pass but the view doesn't.
How do I pass this PersonID from my Gift List controller to my Gift Create controller via the Gift List view? Or is there a better way to do this?
I have a filter on my MVC web site. I display some records in a few different controller actions but when moving from one action to another I want to apply those filter values.
How can I persist values from controller to controller?
Should I use Session? TempData?
I am using Structure Map for IOC.
Maybe I could have a class that contains a Property for each Session Value that I use in my application and inject it on the controllers that need session?
