Like if use select radio button that he is residing on current address for more than 3 than previous residance fields are optional but if he select (radio button) that he is residing on current address for less than 3 years than previous address fields should be requried. Jan 17, 2011I have a website in ASP.NET (WebForms, NOT MVC) which has a survey form divided in several slides. Each slide has a next button that, obviously does a transition (client-side, not post back or remote request) to the next slide.In each slide I have several ASP.NET controls with their related validators. I want this validators to be triggered when I click the next button (or maybe when each input loses focus?).
I remembered ASP.NET doing client side validation on lost focus, but maybe I'm wrong... (I quit doing ASP.NET development about 3 years now, so I can't remember)UPDATE: It would be better to make ASP.NET trigger each validator when the associated control lost focus. I remember ASP.NET doing this (or am I dreaming? =P)

Aug 24, 2010I have been using properties and have idea that using properties with private fields we can implement validations and buisness rules in them.
But I am just thinking asp.net client side validation controls provide good strength and they provide good user experience as well. They can be used for any type of validation (using regular expression) on client side and their re-use is possible on server side. When validation controls are a must and they are powerful; is making properties not just wastage of time ?
Is there still some use of properties ?

Jan 27, 2011When I put a part of my form in a partial view, all form parts get unobstructive syntax except the form elements in the partial view. The only way I found how to "apply" the unobstructive syntax, is by starting another form inside the partial view.

So only the input element from the View has the unobstructive syntax and the partial view hasn't... Is there a way to apply unobstructive syntax inside a partial view, wich doesn't require you to begin a new form?

May 18, 2010in a form i have a buttoin, when click both OnclientClick and postback should happen. on clicking the "Email" button a client side "mailto" tag should do the work and pull a new message window on the client's machine.
whereas, the email addresses should be invoked by the post back. so , when clicking the button the server side post should happen and on return the client side script should be invokded with the values read during post back, and populate all the email addresses.
i need know how to first do a server hit take the values and then execute the client script with those values without using AJAX

Jul 16, 2010I am using VS2010 and .NET4 for a web app. I have a script manager/update panel that has a couple of grids.
The client just leaves the page opens and views an updated grid every 30 seconds or so.
I want to refresh the grid by calling the server side method to load the grid, but not load the whol page using meta refresh or similar (too much screen flicker and unnecessary bandwith).
Is it possible to set some timer using javascript or something and call a specific server method to refresh controls?

There are two instances of this control in the page. When running the client side version it hits the wrong one (the version of the control which is disabled). You can see from the generated HTML both are correctly specified. I'm not sure how .NET works out which clientside function to call given they both have the same name.

Client Side Validation Not Working On Android Browser?
Feb 10, 2011Have some problems with client side validation (using RequiredFieldValidator, RegularExpressionValidator, CustomValidator with client side validation logic). It seems that WebForm_DoPostBackWithOptions is not fired or causes unhandled exception that makes the form to do the postback regardless it's valid or not.
I tried using a ValidationSummary, hiding it if javascript is supported:

Every thing works fine on Chrome with disabled javascript on my laptop, but not on my Android phone. The problem is that on the phone Javascript is not disabled, it's enabled, and correctly hides the ValidationSummary, but does not perform client side validation for some reason that i can't understand (no developers tools on Android browser :(( ).This is very frustrating! :(
MVC 2 Client Side Validation Not Working For Html.ValidationMessage()?
Apr 11, 2010I'm trying to get a very simple client side validation example to work in ASP.NET MVC 2. I'm using data annotations to set a required property "Surname". When I use the Html.ValidationMessageFor(x => x.Surname) the correct client side validation script is written to the page. But when I use Html.ValidationMessage("Surname") the client side validation is not rendered out until after the page has been posted. Client side validation only starts working after a form post! I can see that the script is updated in the page after a form post. There appears to be a bug in Html.ValidationMessage()?
