When I click submit, It does the validation on the server side, I kinda like it to validate on the Client instead of taking a trip to the server right away.
Using MVC 3 RTM and MvcContrib/FluentHtml version 3.0.51.0, I can't get the jQuery client side validation to work. Server side validation works fine, and returns showing the correct validation summary, etc. But the form post always tries to hit the server-side post controller action when it should have stopped on the client side to display the validation error.
I tried replacing the MvcContrib ModelViewPage with the default Mvc ViewPage and it still didn't work.
Here's my code:
Web.config has:
[Code]....
Site.Master page has:
[Code]....
View page inherits from MvcContrib's ModelViewPage:Here's the view page:
I'm using the ASP.NET login control and I'm displaying a jQuery throbber when the submit button is clicked. This works fine, but the throbber is visible if client side validation fails and the button is invisible, so the user cannot re-submit the form. How do I hide the throbber if client side validation fails?
I am developing an application in asp.net mvc 2.0.In my view page i am rendering five partial views.While loading view page it very slow with partial views.if i remove the partial pages it loading very fast.How to improve the performace of partail pages while rendering.
Suppose I'm building a StackOverflow clone using webforms ASP.NET and jQuery. The Question page has a question, several answers, and comments under each. Requirements:Users can post new answers and comments, and edit existing ones, without postbacks. No UpdatePanels; the AJAX calls retrieve just the JSON they need, not HTML fragments. The page loads with all existing answers and comments in place (no javascript needs to run to read the page).
What I'm trying to figure out is how to do this without having to maintain two sets of markup (one that's bound on the client using some form of jQuery templating, and one that's bound on the server using traditional WebForms).
want to know that can we validate a control which is out side a form element in asp.net(server side validation)and outside a form element in html(client side validation) let's take a closer look
I have a list of items that loads when I call the page controller and I have an Ajax.BeginForm that calls the same (Index) Action. If the Action sees that it's an Ajax request (Request.IsAjaxRequest()) then it returns a partial view. I even have a div that contains a message about the results loading. That all works fine, but my results can sometimes take awhile and I'd like to hit the page first and then make the Ajax request so the user sees the page quickly and sees the "loading" message. I know I could click my filter button (triggering the ajax call) using jquery on document.ready, but is there a more MVC way to do this?
I'm interested in identifying a means to verify the server-side validation is performing as expected, but need to bypass the client-side validation being done using ASP.NET validation controls. To test this, I've tried using the form Poster add-on to Firefox that allowed me to get/modify the page contents and post it, but the .NET framework interpreted the submission as harmful and threw an application error ("A potentially dangerous Request.Form value was detected from the client").I've created a WinForm that includes a WebBrowser control and I'm able to manipulate the contents of the web page and invoke the button click, but am interested in seeing how to allow a postback with invalid input values. I don't want to assume the server-side validation works (even though I do check if Page.IsValid on the server on postback).This submits the web form in the WebBrowseer control and the expected client-side validation fires: extendedWebBrowser1.Document.GetElementById(formButtonName).InvokeMember("click"); This is how I've manipulated some of the page contents (this just prevents submission): mshtml.IHTMLDocument2 doc = extendedWebBrowser1.Document.DomDocument as mshtml.IHTMLDocument2; string html = doc.body.innerHTML; html.Replace("Page_ValidationActive = false", "Page_ValidationActive = true"); doc.body.innerHTML = html.ToString(); extendedWebBrowser1.Document.GetElementById(formButtonName).InvokeMember("click");
I have 4 forms in my asp.net mvc view.I have enabled client side validation on each by put <% Html.EnableClientValidation(); %> Above Html.BeginForm()of each form.The issue is that regardless of the fact that I've specified ID's for the forms the first form on the page gets validated whenever I click submit of the other forms. Is this usage supported?
I have a Controller set up for a certain View. This View contains 2 partial Views (ascx files). Each partial View has a Controller method that yields its DataModel. The containing View doesn't currently display any data, but just serves as a container for the 2 partial Views.
Here's the problem: The Index action of the containing View runs, but the Controller methods for the partial Views don't, so I get a null exception when the Model tries to render out the data that should be available. I'm using MVC 1.0, which is something of a bummer, since it seems that the next version is supposed to have something other than "RenderPartial" that will assist with this very issue. However, since I'm stuck for the moment with 1.0, can anyone give some advice on getting the Controller methods to run for the partial Views?
If I enable client side validation in the view I'll get the error per the Attributes from the metadata class. If I take clientside validation out, error gets thrown from saving to the DB rather than return the view with an Error Summary.
This is the top portion of my view....
<% using (Html.BeginForm()) {%> <%: Html.ValidationSummary(true) %>
I've tried running without debugging (ctrl + f5) in debug and release mode as well as setting breakpoints and Debugging (f5) but it just seems weird to get Client side validation without server side validation. What am I missing here?
if in the code behind, I set the label to "You must enter a value if the textbox is empty" to validate it on the server side and this is fine, but if javascript is enabled, I don't want to show the client side validation and the server side label together. Is this something where I would just have to disable the client-side validators if javascript was enabled?
I am using JQuery for all of my client side validation and Asp.net validator controls for all of my server side validation. I am using an errorlabelcontainer to store the client side validations in a summary at the top of the page, which is the requirement. All works well. My problem is, I want to display the server side asp.net errors in the same errorlabelcontainer OR display all of the client side errors in the validation summary. Either way, Both errors need to be in the same place/div. Any ideas on how to do this? I thought of maybe using the asp.net validation summary as the errorcontainer in JQuery, but I cannot find the summary. This is what I have right now.
I'd like to implement ajax message box that will gather information from validators on a page when client-side validation fires. Like: I have left some text fields blank then press submit button and appropriate RequiredFieldValidators show messages. I would like my message box shows those messages too. I am looking for appropriate way to hook on validators JS event or something.
Scenario: Loading partial views into jquery tabs(Ajax Mode) using MVC3 &Razor . Works fine in FF but not in IE8 or IE7. I can trace the ajax request & responses in firebug fine and see partial views returned from the server (containing JqGrid Html Helper methods).This loads up fine within the tab conatiners in firefox.But in IE nothing happens and i cant see any ajax requests getting fired from changing tabs when i use Fiddler.Ive tried playing around with the ajaxOptions when i initialize jq Tabs to no avail.
Ive had this problem on MVC2 and i resorted to laying the tabs contents out statically ,which i dont want this time, as i need lazy loading. Below is a full page source dump from IE8, renedered using the razor view engine. (Links to all Csss and JS libs)
<script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function () { $("#tabs").tabs(); }); </script> </head> <body> <h2>Index</h2> <div id="tabs"> <ul> <li><a href="/"><span>Home</span></a> </li> <li><a href="/ServicesMonitored/GetServicesMonitoredTab"><span>Monitored Services</span></a> </li> <li><a href="/ServicesMonitored/GetServicesFullTab"><span>Full Services</span></a></li> </ul> </div> </body> </html> From Controller: public class ServicesMonitoredController : Controller { IServicesMonitoredRepository<ServiceHeaderInfo,InfoDataItem> Services; public ServicesMonitoredController() { Services = new ServicesMonitoredRepository(); } public ActionResult GetServicesMonitoredTab() { return PartialView("ServicesMonitoredTab"); } public ActionResult GetServicesFullTab() { return PartialView("ServicesFullTab"); } #region Return Services [HttpPost] public JsonResult ReturnServices(string sidx, string sord, int page, int rows) { }
I have two strongly Typed partial views (Developers list and Testers list) and the respective views are Developers.ascx and Testers.ascx Now I want to load one partial view based on the radiobutton selected.
How to read the value of the radiobutton option? if anyone can provide Code snippet or some guidelines.
Here is my parent Controller Code & View:
Parent Controller:
[HttpGet] public ActionResult View IT People List(string type) { var developers = from d in itEntity.Developers select s; return View(developers); } Parent View: <%@ Page Title="" Language="C#" MasterPageFile="~/Views/Shared/Mvc.Master" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewPage<IEnumerable<DataModel.Developers>>" %> <asp:Content ID="Content2" ContentPlaceHolderID="cphHead" runat="server"> </asp:Content> <asp:Content ID="Content1" ContentPlaceHolderID="cphContent" runat="server"> <h2>View All IT Dept List</h2> <table> <tr> <td><label for="txType">Select List:</label> </td> <td> <%= Html.RadioButton("Type", 1, true)%> Developers <%= Html.RadioButton("Type", 2, false)%> Testers </td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan = 2> <%Html.RenderPartial("Developers", Model);%> </td> </tr> </table> </asp:Content> Two strongly Typed Controllers are: [HttpGet] public ActionResult Developers() { var developers = from d in itEntity.Developers select d; return View(developers); } [HttpGet] public ActionResult Testers() { var testers = from t in itEntity.Testers select t; return View(testers); }
I use the oob client side validation from mvc 2 RC. The input field validation errors are working fine. But the validation summary is missing. How to get the validation summary on client side validation?
When i use Validator callout extender and as well both client side java script validation , both are not working at a same time.I use java script code for dynamic checkboxes to be atleast one checkbox must be checked.When i use onclient click only javascript validations are fired, when use onclick function javascript code is not working.
i can query to get my parent list and pass that into the partial view. Im running into problems when i try and make a recurisve call to the view. i cant figure out how to pass the second group back in.
