I am creating a web application using ASP.Net 3.5 MVC , I have created Edit and Create views, one of the fields is Image URL,How can I upload a image in a web server folder and save the name of image in database (as a part of Edit and Create view)?

i created a create view for an entity in my database using MVC 2 in VS2010.I noticed that the auto generated code used HTML.TextBoxFor for ALL the columns..this isnt very optimal.Is there a way to get it to use Html.DisplayFor ? I have a bit column that the auto generated code used a textbox for..How can change this using UIHint.
View 2 RepliesI have a partial view (user control) that is shared by my Create and Edit views. When I use it in the Edit view, I have to to include an hidden field (Html.HiddenFor) to prevent a 'Row changed or not found' error in my data service, but when I use it in the Create view, I have to remove the PK hidden field, to prevent an error over trying to insert into an identity column. It is not feasible to not use identity columns in this application, so how can I 'switch' that PK hidden field on or off depending on which action has been invoked?

View 3 RepliesI have a user requirement to hav the ability to directly edit the gridview without having to click the edit link. I was thinking of showing dropdown lists for each column-to-row so that the user can select the values for each record. Then the table will be updated accordingly (no update link).
Is this possible or do I still need the edit template and specify the item template with the dropdown list?
I have a page where I have a tab container and four tabs. the problem is on the first tab "manage quote request" I have a Gridview with the quote request general informatin listed and have a template field created with a link button to databind to the formview quote details. the porblem comes in when after I click on the select linkbutton. the Formview loads right. Then Whe I try to click on the edit linkbuttin in the form view I have to click it twice to change the mode to edit.

I am using a telerik radgrid so there are around 5 columns each column edittemplate contains a control along with a required field validator and also a property called AllowMultiRowEdit is set to true so i am able to multiple rows in edit mode.
If any of the values are cleared the for multiple rows I want only those to be validated on update of that particular row.
So i implemented the Grids item data bound event find each and every validator along with the update button and set a unique validation group.
The above implementation most times but fails at some time. Is there any other way of going about this ?
im trying to implement a gallery of sorts where the usercan view and upload images (he can only upload once signed in). Does anyone know where i can find a gallery like this, or do i have to code it myself?

By default it appears the user could change the key field value (as it is presented in a textbox) and overwrite data for that record for which the key was accidentally changed to.
Do we have to store the original record's key and then make the key presented as a label and then on the update subtitute the original key value back in for the record? Or is there something simpler?
i am facing some problem in update, edit and even create new data into my access database using data detail view. i am using microsoft visual web developer 2008, i can do the same when sql server database were to tore the data. but when i try to do the same using access database, an application error. may i know whats going wrong? and how to solve this problem?

We have a scenario where we would like to allow our users to upload images to the site. We are running on ASP.Net. A quick search did not result in anything good. It would be great if the control is free/open source but we do not mind paying a little bit.
View 1 RepliesI'm using a slightly modified version of Valum's upload [github link], I've modified it to upload to a database but haven't modified the javascript that it is using to get the file into the Request as an InputStream. The following line of code is failing in IE 8 but is confirmed to work in Chrome. using (Image imgInput = Image.FromStream(Request.InputStream)) The error received is "Parameter not valid". It appears to be having an issue with the Input Stream being used but it exists/has data (not sure how to validate if the data is good or not).

can any one tll me how to upload in image in the web page and dispay it in an image control then save the path to the database?
I'm having an image in my page displayed to clients form a folder under same apllication folder,I also have a form in the same page that accepts an image file to be uploaded. The image that is uploaded via this form should take the place of the image that's displayed in the page with the name newly givven at runtime. The new image should be uploaded in the same directory with the new name provided, which means it overwrites the previous image.
