MVC :: Microsoft Indexing Service Search Does Not Index MVC Application Files?
Apr 12, 2010
I have just deployed a MVC web application onto our intranet. The application is hosted on a Win 2003 R2 SP1 server and running on IIS 6.0. Everything works fine within the application. But our intranet uses the windows Indexing service for providing search functionality on our intranet website. The search brings up related links to files within the MVC web application. But the problem is the links don't work as MVC urls do not point to absolute files. Is there a way to resolve this?
I would like to use the indexing service for search engine of the website. My problem is it can't search any Non-english words, it always return the message "The query contained only ignored words". Unbelievablely, differ result found in differ environments, in my local develop environment (Win XP (Chinese version)) is can search for any words, even non-english keywords. Another environment is server 2003 (English version), which is not work!
So I think it should be environment setting issue rather than .net setting or web.config or any other about the page encode, but i have no idea for how to setup the environment to fix this issue.By the way, my web.config have this setting, which is my googling result =.=
Developing a web site in .Net 4. Very close to being complete with most functionality, so I thought I would attack what seemed to be a tough one (something I have not done): site content search.
I've been digging around for an hour or so, and I'm a little perplexed. How do I perform content search on an ASP.net website?
A few things I'll throw out there before you answer with something I've already seen and cannot implement:
I am developing on a Win7x64 computer using VS2010 w/TFS.Site has been converted to .net 4, and is in C#.Will not have access to put site on Windows Server 2008 for another month, but would really like to implement search if at all possible beforehand. All that said, can I implement searching via indexing? I've looked at using Windows Search, but nothing looked like it worked right. This site will be served up on a Windows Web Server 2008. Do I need to somehow develop against a Server 2008 to implement search via indexing?
in my project i would like to save pdf files in database, how to save pdf files in database ? along with that i would like to create create a search page to search for pdf files with PDF file names , how to accoplish these things
my webpage perform content search using Windows Indexing Servicemy production machine is Windows XP everything finethen i tested my published Website in Windoes 7the Summary Fields always empty
I'm working on a project where we're using Windows Desktop Search (WDS) to index files on a web share and then later allow the user to search via a website for documents in the share.
These documents are transferred to the share via FTP, however it would seem that either the computer never goes idle to index or at some point the indexing stops. Is there a way from the command line or within the program itself to force this to happen without having to re-invent the wheel? Using .NET 3.5 and C#.
We have developed apllication in Microsoft VS 2008 and when we opening this same application with Microsoft VS 2010. Then it's asking to convert.
So can anybody tell me what it is converting exactly. Means it's open application in Microsoft VS 2010 and running properly also. But i am understanding whats happning while converting.
I basically want to do a reverse 'search in all files', so it returns files that don't contain "keyword".Does anyone know how to do this, or the regex used, etc?
For a discussion forum, does it work better to index each entry inside a discussion thread as a separate lucene document or simple concat all entries within a discussion into one big block of text and index a whole discussion thread as a single lucene document?
i am working on a small search-engine app with asp.net 4.0. the indexing process can index each URL founded in each document and this recursively performed for each other. now how i can terminate this process when i want or when user clicked on stop browser button?
In my web application I need to Search a gridview by a Text which entered in a textbox, and in a Button_Click().
I need to search the Text in a particular column only, so I use the gridviewrow property and searched which item template contains the Text. But, it works in the First page index of the GridView not in the Next and others, How can I Enable the Search Up-to the Last page index and the Last row of the GridView.
I'm trying to use the System.Speech.Recognition namespace for recognizing speech in a web service. Actually, the WS calls a dll that uses this namespace. The problem is that...I can't. First, I had a Access denied error. After changing the Identity of my application pool to LocalSystem (security break, I know), that disappeared. But a timeout appeared. I receive no error, but no response either.
I did some tests, and, the same code (very simple) that I use for recognizing the text in a WAV returns the answer in around 2 seconds, when integrated in a desktop application, but hangs and does nothing in a web application. I'm not supposed to use System.Speech.Recognition in a web application? Am I supposed to use something else?
I am having with the a full text index I am developing for a product catalog. It does all work to a degree I am just seeing some strange things happening.
From the database side I have a Products table that is being indexed on both the PartNumber and Description columns because I would like the users to be able to search either or using the search function.
Problem 1:
whenever I use multiple words in the search I don't always get the results I am looking for, this happens most notably when I am attempting to say put in a full part number (which for in this case would look like "I 10-9.2")
Problem 2:
I am not 100% sure that this is the most efficient way of completing what I am attempting to accomplish here since I have 2 columns that I need to perform the search on
Here is an excerpt from the click even when the user clicks the search button on the page:
[Code]....
And here is the search functions called from the click event to firstly check if there are any results and the second to display the results in a custom gridview:
I have a 'Connection.cs' file in the App_Code folder of Microsoft Visual Web Developer 2010, but it alerts me of an error:
The type or namespace name 'Connection' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) ('Connection' is the name of a class in the Connection.cs file)
1. User will upload files into system. {say into Database or storing in some location (C:/temp/.....).}
2. Suppose user wants to search file/s which contains particular keywords - suppose user wants to retrieve files which contains word :
Finance Management. System should return all the files which contains that word.
I know how to upload file and retrieve file of particular name.
Problem : Only need idea of functionality in which key word will be searched through the several files and search result will return names of the files which contain that word.
I have this code and I'm getting an IOException and can't figure out what the problem is. I'm trying to loop through the subdirectories in a directory and list all of the .JPG files.
I have a directory folder with PDF images files: 1234567.pd, 7654321.pdf, 3212345.pdf, 9876321.pdf. Now, see my code below (everything in the code is working good), except that I am trying to search for the image file number doesn’t exist in that directory.
For example If the image file pdf number: 4455668.pdf doesn’t exist in that folder it will redirect or display error.I am getting an error that says: AspPDF. NET 2.1.0.15816 has generated error #110: [ Could not find a part of the path 'C:XXXX-Image4455668.pdf', which means the image file number doesn’t exist in the path directory. Yes, the error is correct, there is not image file number I type.
I used the script where the image array has static images.I want to convert it dynamically by finding my images names from index.aspx.cs files which are stored in hidden fields.
I want to split this hidden filed and assign it to imagearray.how can i do this
var mygallery2=new fadeSlideShow({ wrapperid: "fadeshow2", //ID of blank DIV on page to house Slideshow dimensions: [568, 313], //width/height of gallery in pixels. Should reflect dimensions of largest image imagearray: [ ["images/1.jpg", "", "", ""], ["images/2.jpg", "", "", ""], ["images/3.jpg"], ["images/4.jpg", "", "", ""] //<--no trailing comma after very last image element! ], displaymode: {type:'auto', pause:2500, cycles:0, wraparound:false}, persist: false, //remember last viewed slide and recall within same session? fadeduration: 500, //transition duration (milliseconds) descreveal: "always", togglerid: "fadeshow2toggler" })
I am planning to start learning asp.net mvc. And also I want to learn Microsoft's Data Access application block. But I dont want to waste time in MDAC block if theres a better option to go for, or if MVC provides any good feature than MDAC. As I have heard MVC architecture automatically generates code.
