MVC :: "Path" To Linked File - FileInfo.Exists Always False?

i set up Log4Net in a project, with the Log4Net.config file in "App_Data/config/Log4Net.config", and called the XmlConfigurator.Configure function with the following:

However, I the config file to be available in multiple projects, so moved it out to a solution folder (config/Log4Net.config).
Back in my MVC project, I added the config file as a linked file (and also set it to a "embedded" resource and "copy always" for the heck of it)
However I got no idea how the previous "var configfile = new FileInfo("????")" should read.
Tried it with and without Server.MapPath, using "Log4Net.config", "/Log4Net.config", "~/Log4Net.config", etc. No luck.
My guess it's because this Log4Net.config is not an actual file, but just linked.

I would like to check whether a folder exists or not if not create. I'm sure this folder exists, but for some reason I get "false" when I check with "Exists" method.
The only reason I think could be because of the W: drive? I moved this application to production site and even there it returns false.
while I'm type in Windows explorer on my localhost and on the server "W:/Webs/ASPPages/cropper/uploads" it opens this folder. So my localhost and IIS server has W: mapping.
for test I tried to create the folder then it says can't find the path...

Our web application hosted from windows 2003 server, is trying to access a file present in a shared folder of another windows 2003 server. The path for the shared folder is configured in the webconfig file in the below format.
<add key="ReportPath" value="\<Server_Name>Reports"/>
if (!File.Exists(ReportPath))
/ Show the report in a link
This function File.Exists() always returns false and when I try to remove the check, it returned the exception, "Logon failure: unknown username or bad password."

In my c# class I wrote I have a photo property that returns the photo source if the image exists (nothing or default image otherwise). In my code I use:

If I get the FileInfo() information for this image I see that I tries to find this image in the following directory: C:Program Files (x86)Common FilesMicrosoft SharedDevServer10.0~images ecipes Of course the image is not located in that directory and File.Exists is returning me the wrong value.how can I fix this?

I have two folders in my asp.net web application in which I create new folders programmaticaly. The entire solution is under VSS source control. I was not able to manipulate these two folders programmably. For that, I gave {MACHINE}ASPNET user account full control over these two folders. Still, the "access denied to the path" error was coming. I saw that these entire folders were marked readonly. I tried to uncheck Readonly from explorer but not successfull, readonly check does not get removed. Also, if I copy files using method, the destinationn copied file becomes readonly. I have also tried File.SetAttributes (path,FileAttributes.Normal); but no success. How can I make the copied file not READONLY?

I have an account called "admintest" which is "admin" as its role. I called the following line to delete the user with deleteAllRelatedData=false because I just want to mark the user as deleted (I may need to retrieve users' history later)
bool result = Membership.DeleteUser("admintest", false);
After that, I call the following line to get the user:
string[] users = Roles.GetUsersInRole("admin");
But I still get "admintest" in the users array.

I'm getting the typical "Parser Error - the file '/virtualdir/Shared/Controls/filename.ascx.cs' does not exist..." error message on an @Register directive statement in one of my .master page files that references the same file. Note, this is working just fine on my old PC, where I have the same solution running on a Windows XP SP3, IIS 5.1 machine, developed with VS 2008 Team System. I'm now trying to set up my development environment on a new PC, running Windows 7, IIS 7, VS 2008 Team System.
The thing is this, and probably where I think I need help, the specific file it's saying has an error is a file that I added in one project (which was developed using VB.NET) as a linked file from another project (which was developed using C#) in the old PC. The solution in the new PC builds fine and runs fine (home page comes up, login works, brings up next page) until it tries to access a page that uses a master file that references the user control added as a linked file on my old PC. Note, the project and file that the linked file references has been added and exists on the new PC in the very same directory structure as the old PC.

I have a full working web site that i ported to a new hosting company. In some pages i have links to PDF on the server (they do exist!) On the old server no problem. On the new one when user clicks on the link : error 404 file does not exist.. Should i look in the web.config ? i don't know where to start

I have a ASP.Net website with links to files stored on a file server. These files are modified constantly and so the links will not always be valid, this includes changes to permissions, files being moved or deleted, etc. I implemented a method in the code-behind to check the validity of these links as they are constructed, if it fails the code will add CSS to change the color of link:

My problem is that not all the invalid links are getting the style added to them. The strange thing is that when I step through the method in debug mode using one of the bad links that was not colored, the method will return false and color the link as expected. There's a lot more involved then what I present above, but I searched the entire aspx code-behind for any other locations where the link url is being set and couldn't find any. I don't know if there's some post processing going on that somehow clears any styles that were applied to some of the links. The fact that some links are colored while others are not is very confusing to me. Has anyone else encountered similar behavior before?

I need to do this from code behind. I am trying to use the HttpWebRequest object, but not sure how to do it.

I have a .net aspx project done with VS 2008 using the .Net 2.xxxx framework. This ASPX application is deployed on and 4 different 2003 Server boxes. 3 are running in total beautifully. In the 4th box is my issue. I do a FILE.EXISTS conditional test looking for case file pdf's. These case numbers are structured as such 2012-C-0421,001,0008.PDF
Please note the comma's used in the path. 3 of the 4 servers in court houses recognize the path to the pdf WITH the commas in them perfectly and the FILE.EXISTS works 100%. On the fourth box (same config we THINK) the exact same FILE.EXISTS does not return a hit even though we see the document sitting in the folder via explorer. IF we remove the commas and make it 2012-C-0421001008.pdf all is fine and document is indeed discovered with the EXISTS.
WHY on this one server does the original ducument path not function. We can not ask the court houses to change the way they store their documents so I need to make this work like the other 3. Again... same version..same .net framework... same OS (2003 server)
