Apr 4, 2011I have looked all over for elegant solutions to this not so age-old question. How can I lock down form elements within an ASP.Net MVC View, without adding if...then logic all over the place? Ideally the BaseController, either from OnAuthorization, or OnResultExecultion, would check the rendering form elements and hide/not render them based on role and scope. Another approach I have considered is writing some sort of custom attributes, so as to stay consistent with how how we lock down ActionResults with [Authorize]. Is this even possible without passing a list of hidden objects to the view and putting if's all over? Other background info: We will have a database that will tell us at execution time (based on user role/scope) what elements will be hidden. We are using MVC3 with Razor Viewengine. We're utilizing a BaseController where any of the Controller methods can be overridden.

Oct 20, 2010This is the sqlDateTime overflow problem again. Background. As I'm sure you know dates must be between 1/1/1753 and 12/31/2999. If you have an empty date field, it throws and exception. So I created a function (below) that solve the problem when attempting to update or insert a record with a date field. Works great.

So I thought about using a time field. I have the field, have the validator in place and then attempted to test the page. It resulted in my least favorite error message "sqlDateTime overflow".
I can think of several workarounds like adding a date or a fixed date to the time field, or converting it to a string. Each of these is problematic.
IS THERE A BETTER WAY TO UPDATE/INSERT TIME FIELDS.

I understand why that might seem a little weird and may be difficult since a cshtml file is a combination of html and then c# code, but I can step into it. The ability to step into it makes it seem like I should be able to set a breakpoint. Am I missing how to do this or is this not possible in the RC? If not any plans to add this before RTM or in the future?

Mar 2, 2011I've run across with client-side validation. Firstly I'm assuming that everything is set up properly because client validation is working fine other than this specific scenario. The scenario is that if I have a field with a validation attribute on it then I can clear th field value and client validation won't flag it as an error even though the validation should fail. If, however, I type in something that is invalid then from then on it works correctly. It seems like client validation is missing the clearing of the field if it has not yet generated a validation error. Here's a simple model to demo the issue:

Now I drop in an edit form generated by the Add View dialog. Nov 19, 2010I'm using Telerik's RadScheduler Control with WebService Binding.
I've used RadScheduler with Server Side Binding which has an event called "OnTimeSlotCreated" which fires every time when a particular time slot creates so that i can access the time slot and get the control (HtmlTableCell Control) to modify it according to the requirement.
But now i'm binding it from client side through WebService which has no such "onClientTimeSlotCreated" event, also these time slots are not having any identity at client side to access.
