I am new to ajax and ASP MVC framework. I have downloaded Ajax toolkit and referenced dll in my MVC website. And have the following code in one of the pages
<div>
i'm using visual web developer 2008 express edition
i downloaded AjaxControlToolkit.Binary.NET35 from codeplex site.
i extracted the zip file.I added the toolbox to visual web developer by adding a new tab naming it ajax kit.
added tools to it by choose item and selected AjaxControlToolkit.dll ,the one i unzipped.
AJAX tools appear in toolbox.Even after using script manager tool,when i drag one of the contols for example autocompleteextender,i get a circle with black diagonal line indicating i cant use the tool
when i hard code the the controls in tags in source tab ,i dont get an error but i dont get the tool in design view...the following lines are also present
<%@ Register assembly="System.Web.Extensions, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35" namespace="System.Web.UI" tagprefix="asp" %>
<%@ Register assembly="AjaxControlToolkit" namespace="AjaxControlToolkit" tagprefix="ajaxToolkit" %>
I am in the process of migrating the ASP.Web Application from .NET framework 1.1 to 3.5.
I installed the VS 2008 (framework 3.5 SP1) and was able to rebuild the ASP.NET web app from 1.1.
I downoladed the AJAX Toll Kit library from codeplex [URL]
I was able to add the AJAX Toolkit tab in my VS 2008 tool box.
I am using the AutoComplete serach extender which works fine when I use the Ajax Tool Kit Script manager.
When I use the Ajax Extension Script Manager in place of Ajak ToolKit Script manager I get an error "
AjaxControlToolkit requires ASP.NET Ajax 4.0 scripts. Ensure the correct version of the scripts are referenced. If you are using an ASP.NET ScriptManager, switch to the AjaxScriptManager in System.Web.Ajax.dll, or use the ToolkitScriptManager in AjaxControlToolkit.dll.
why AutoComplete Search Extender is not working with the Ajax Extension Script Manager.
Im having problem with the newest release of Ajax Control Toolkit under .NET 3.5
I downloaded source code from AjaxControlToolkit.Source.zip and compiled it under .NET 3.5
Then i made simple web application:
[Code]....
It failed to run with my compiled version of ACT, im having an error:"Line: 160 Error: '$common' is null or not an object"
in AsyncFileUpload.AsyncFileUpload.debug.js and then:
"Line: 22 Error: AjaxControlToolkit requires ASP.NET Ajax 4.0 scripts. Ensure the correct version of the scripts are referenced. If you are using an ASP.NET ScriptManager, switch to the ToolkitScriptManager in AjaxControlToolkit.dll." in
AsyncFileUpload.AsyncFileUpload.debug.js" in Common.Common.debug.js
I tried to use precompiled binaries of ACT : AjaxControlToolkit.Binary.NET35.zip and its working!
There is difference in referenced scripts between my dll and AjaxControlToolkit.Binary.NET35.zip
In my version, the headers of MicrosoftAjax.debug.js and MicrosoftAjaxWebForms.debug.js are:
// Name: MicrosoftAjax.debug.js
// Assembly: System.Web.Extensions
// Version: 3.5.0.0
// FileVersion: 3.5.30729.4926
//-----------------------------------------------------------------------
// Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.
//-----------------------------------------------------------------------
// MicrosoftAjax.js
// Microsoft AJAX Framework.
// Name: MicrosoftAjaxWebForms.debug.js
// Assembly: System.Web.Extensions
// Version: 3.5.0.0
// FileVersion: 3.5.30729.4926
//-----------------------------------------------------------------------
// Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.
//-----------------------------------------------------------------------
// MicrosoftAjaxWebForms.js
// Microsoft AJAX ASP.NET WebForms Framework.
And when im using version from AjaxControlToolkit.Binary.NET35.zip, they are:
// Name: MicrosoftAjax.debug.js
// Assembly: AjaxControlToolkit
// Version: 3.5.40412.0
// FileVersion: 3.5.40412.2
// (c) 2010 CodePlex Foundation
// Name: MicrosoftAjaxWebForms.debug.js
// Assembly: AjaxControlToolkit
// Version: 3.5.40412.0
// FileVersion: 3.5.40412.2
// (c) 2010 CodePlex Foundation
I have not compared the rest of scripts, but in those 2 scripts: assembly, version and author does not match between my and precompiled dll. ToolkitScriptManager is trying to load microsoft scripts, but it should load those from CodePlex.In solution downloaded from AjaxControlToolkit.Source.zip, there are 2 projects: MicrosoftAjax and MicrosoftAjax.Extened, i think ToolkitScriptManager should take scripts from them. Maybe im compiling it in a wrong way? (I changed target framework in AjaxControlToolkit project to .NET 3.5 and also tried to change it in 2 projects mentioned above, with no effect).
I had a dropshadow extender attached to a gridview. I was getting an error: Microsoft JScript runtime error: Sys.ArgumentException: Value must not be null for Controls and Behaviors. Parameter name: element So I removed the extender and I have a break point on: If Not Page.IsPostBack Then And it never stops there anymore. Page comes up though. I have restarted VS and rebooted. The app consists of a WebSite and WCF.

I'm developing a Asp.Net website that will be used for a lot users. Would you recomend the use of Ajax Control Toolkit on these kind of website?I'm trying to imagine the worse scenario. Maybe with one user it will work perfectly.By the way, I only use this controls from Ajax Toolkit:ValidatorCalloutExtender, MaskedEditExtender and AsyncFileUpload.
View 1 RepliesI am using most of the Ajax Control, but when I deployed it in IIS. It is not working.
View 1 Repliesi have created a website in vs 2008. and i want to deploy that website on other system. i don't want to give all the source(just like .exe file not source).

Why will I get it ? Do I have to download seperately?
I'm trying to publish a website using VS 2010 but keep getting the following error:
Unable to add 'bin/AjaxControlToolkit.dll' to the Web site. The Web server does not appear to have FrontPage Server Extensions installed.Error: The operation could not be completed. Unspecified error
I am able to publish other websites without any problems but for a handful of them, I'm getting this error.
What is available in .NET 3.5 that is AJAX but does not require the toolkit?
View 5 RepliesI've got an issue where I'm unable to view Ajax controls within the Visual Studio toolbox section What makes this issue even more bizzare is that I'm able to view the controls of the .dll (AjaxControlToolkit.dll) in a test website. I can see Visual Studio iterate through the controls and add them to the tab in one project and absolutely nothing in the other. I've already checked to see if another tab has my controls and done multiple Toolbox resets. Obviously, I need consistency with this and for me to be able to easily add controls to my target website...Does anyone know why one VS2008 project displays controls correctly in one place but not in another project?
View 4 Repliesattached the ajax control toolkit to my custom tab into the toolbox(visual studio 2008).now the problem is that the controls are not dreagged over the wb page design view.but when i dragged the control to the source view and cofigure its target control id to the textbox id the following code is generated(the code is not working)..
<asp:CalendarExtender ID="CalendarExtender1" runat="server"
TargetControlID="TextBox1">
</asp:CalendarExtender>
but when i run the project the following error is generated....Could not find any resources appropriate for the specified culture or the neutral culture. Make sure "AjaxControlToolkit.Properties.Resources.resources" was correctly embedded or linked into assembly "AjaxControlToolkit" at compile time, or that all the satellite assemblies required are loadable and fully signed.what is going wrong(i think the problem is with toolkit attachmnet.but not getting properly)
This is my first silverlight Application. I am trying to use Rating Control from 3.0 Toolkit with VisualStudio 2008 Here are the problems: I am unable to see designer view after adding Rating Control and few other controls. I am not getting any errors or warnings on markup or while compiling. Trying to access Property window for any control is giving me this message " Property Editing not available". Is this the way silverlight was made available with Visual Studio or is there something I am missing here?
View 1 RepliesI am Getting the following error using the Numeric UpDown Control from Ajax Control Toolkit.
Assembly 'AjaxControlToolkit, Version=3.0.30512.20315, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=28f01b0e84b6d53e' contains a Web resource with name 'AjaxControlToolkit.NumericUpDown.NumericUpDownBehavior.debug.js', but does not contain an embedded resource with name 'AjaxControlToolkit.NumericUpDown.NumericUpDownBehavior.debug.js'.
I'm developping an ASP.NET 4.0 application with several controls from the Ajax Toolkit Control.I need a tooltip component, so I use the HoverMenu (displays a Panel when hovering something) and I really like the design used by the ValidatorCallout.So I copied the HTML generated by the framework and added that to my panel.The problem is that it seems that the Ajax Toolkit controls dynamically load the CSS part they need. So it doesn't display anything as there are no ValidatorCallout on the page.I would be really annoyed if I had to add that control only to get the CSS.My solution so far is to also copy the CSS from the ASP.NET website, but I'm looking for a nicer way to reuse the existing Toolkit CSS.Is there a way to load the parts I want "manually" ?
View 1 RepliesMy group has been working on Visual Basic Web application for a very long time. Everytime a new Visual Studio Release comes out we upgraded this application to the current release of visual studio and ASP.NET. Right now we have this application working in visual studio 8 and ASP.NET 2.0.
Recently I downloaded the AJAX tool kit to my system.I was successful loading the AJAX tool kit controls to a newly created ASP.NET Web Application and performed some experiments developing Web pages using AJAX.Now I want perform experiments that test the AJAX script manager to this old application. When I clicked on the visual studio 8 project file to this application the AJAX Extenter Controls and the AJX Toolkit controls are not listed in the visual studio toolkit. In fact the Visual Studio Control Tool kit does not show the tabs where the AJAX Extender and AJAX toolkit controls were loaded. I tried to add a new AJAX Extender and AJAX Toolkit Tab Pages to the Visualo Studio web control toolkit but visua studio reports back that the AJAX Extender and AJAX Toolkit tab Pages are loaded. However these tab pages are not displayed in the Visual Studio Tool Kit
To add AJAX Extender and Toolkit tab pages I must click the Choose Items application and press the reset button on the Choose Items Dialog Box. After this action I can add the Ajax Extender and AJAX Toolkit Control Tab Pages to the Visual studio Control Toolkit. However I cannot add AJAX Extender controls found in the System.Web.Ajax.dll file into the toolkit. After I select the System.Web.Ajax.dll file and press the choose Item OK button none of the controls foun in the System.Web.Ajax.dll file. Same is true with the controls found in the AJAXControlToolkit.dll file too
Is there a class library reference for the AJAX toolkit controls. I would like to see all of the properties and methods of the Accordian control.
View 4 RepliesWhen I try to place any control from Ajax control toolkit, the design surface shows code starting with "<SOAP-ENV:Envelope xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" " .

Ajax Control Toolkit provides too many useful control and I've use them in a multi language application, nothings bad and everything's fine.
the question is that , How can I change the Ajax Control Toolkit Buttons Text, for example in Confirm Button Extender and vice versa
Is there any way to handle clientside events for Ajax Control Toolkit controls? for example, is there any way to handle HoverMenuExtender's onmouseover event, make some operations, and let the control to continue it's execution?
