MVC :: Working With Dropdownlist And Editing On The Same Page?

I feel so stupid asking this because this used to be such a easy task in webforms. Well here we go. It's on my admin part I got a site called edit, on that site there are a dropdown so I can choose what site to edit, once choosen it suppose to get the site body and put it in the textboxes and keep the selected site in the dropdown, this is all suppose to be on the same site Edit. I'm totally lost on how this should be done. this is the code I got so far in my AdminController, I only populate the Dropdown with Editable sites available.

Well the dropdownlist has an existing items. I just want the selected gridview record to be displayed in the dropdownlist. The dropdownlist has several DataTextField in string and consist of DataValueField in numeric. The gridview passes a string text to the box which has an equal or same item inside the dropdownlist. Whenever i passed a record from a gridview to be viewed in the dropdownlist it just duplicates the same item. Q: How can i simply pass a text inside the dropdown and just simply display it without adding on the list.
sample item on the dropdown:
--Select--
Account
Savings
after selecting on the gridview and display inside the dropdown:
Account
Account
Savings
(you see the '--Select--' was erase and replace with the selected record)

I've got a master table and a child table. The master table has a nullable column called ReferenceID and in some cases it should be NULL, but when it's null in a record, I get an error while going to Edit mode of DetailsView.

In Read Only mode all everything is OK, but when I click on Edit and Postback happens, I get the following error: Server Error in '/Sample' Application. 'DropDownList_Reference ' has a SelectedValue which is invalid because it does not exist in the list of items.Parameter name: value It means that in MasterTable, the ReferenceID shouldn't be NULL, but it should be in some cases.

I am tryingto update my data on a gridview.... i have two ddl's and two textbox...when i click on the one ddl it post the value of the selectedvalue into the textbox and this happens the same for the other one..... I am using the rowupdating event handler... and here is what i have so far...

i am making an application using a datagridview... And I am very new to it. And I need to edit my datas in gridview using a dropdown list.
So this is the flow of the program. As the page load, my gridview will appear, with the datas from the database binded to it, so far I have done that already. Every row in the gridview has an edit hyperlink, so when I click that, I can change the values in that row using a dropdownlist, wherein, the item in my dropdown are aswell from my database.

I hav a gridview in which i display the project name,created date,Start time ,end time ,total hours along with the task id field which is visible=false.

How to do the datagrid cell editing? My need is "I want to update the datagrid cell values individually". I have one page that has a FileUpload control with a "Upload Photo" button and underneath that is a ListView control. I would like for the user to be able to browse for a photo and when they click the "Upload Photo" button, that photo displays, along with text boxes that are linked to my database (title, description, photodate) in the listview. The user can then repeat the uploading so that the user can upload as many photos as they want and they show up in the listview (all of them). After the user has uploaded all the photos he wants and has filled out all the information into the boxes of the corresponding photo, the user will then click a button ("Publish") the will publish all the photos that are in the listview.
How would I go about doing this?

trvCats is the ID of the treeview that displays the sitemap contents. Problem is the the trvCats.DataBind() line isnt running when run the code. The new entry is added to the sitemap file, no problems but the code seems to exit after the sMap.Save line so the user must refresh the page to see the updated TreeView. If I set a breakpoint on the trvCats.DataBind() line then it does run but if I remove the breakpoint then it doesn't.
Also a smaller point is that the new node is automatically created with the xmlns attribute. Although this doesn't cause an error I would rather not have it if possible. Anyone got a suggestions how to get rid of it?

I ahve displayed a group of data in my gridvew with the edit option linkbutton template field for each row. The gridview columns consist of employee name and projectname and total hours field employee worked.
So in this when i click the edit button using the datakeynames alue for project name id and employee id ,i have to redirect the page to another page with the values in the grid for the particular employee.so that i can update the totalhours field in the redirected page.and if i press the update button in that page then the page should be redirected to the gridview page with the updated value for the particular employee and project. The page which should be redirected consist of project name dropdownlist, module field,date field and total hours field. No employee name field.
Using the gridview rowdatabound field i have postbacked the url page with the project name id but it does not displays the project in the redirected page.And employee name i have to redirect with the session value i think?

I have a GridView in an update panel that is bound (in code-behind) to a business layer object. The first time this page is accessed, Editing, Deleting, Updating, etc. work fine. However, if I click my browser's refresh button, the functionality of the edit, delete, etc link buttons is gone. They do nothing.

I have a gridview pulling all data from one user. This gridview has an edit button and when that is clicked the gridview becomes too wide for the div/screen and I get a scroll bar. Since this gridview can only have one user in it anyway is it possible to display each field on seperate lines instead?

I have two pages manager and user both have drop downs as
Week, Months and Years.
User have to enter some data week wise for each months and Manager have to approve that.
To Approve manager select months and week from dropdown on his own page and then navigate to User page.
How does I should bind the drop down so that if manager select 1st week from it's page and goes to view link of user then in drop down of user selected value shold be the same as selected by Manager on his own page.

This problem is stopping me from winding up my project. I have a webform where there is a pop-up page that populates one text box and 2 dropdowns. And I also have a checkbox list that does a postback. Whenever the checkboxlist does a postback, one of the dropdownlist's value is reset. It happens with only one dropdown list. The text box and the other dropdownlist retain their value. I have put enableviewstate = true at both the page level and control level.

I just installed IE9 on my machine and when I opend my ASP.NET application its DropDownList is not working. When I click on button next to the dropdown list it does not open the selection box.

OK Here is the situation:
I have a web app with a table of statistics on our salesmen's customers, and each row has a sparkline graph showing the general trend of the sales data for the last 12 months. Each page shows a particular salesman's customer list, and some of them can have an enormous number of customers = an enormous number of rows = an enormous number of sparklines (e.g. one in particular has 125 and takes 15 seconds to load).
For this reason, jQuery sparklines could not be used - they completely pinned the CPU of a user accessing a page with a lot of sparklines with IE.
So I moved on to using the Google Chart API, which worked much better, except for two issues: 1) it's on a secure site, and the Google Chart API URL is only served over HTTP (solved by using a small wrapper script to download the graph dynamically and re-serve it from our secure server); and 2) on a page with 125 sparklines, it was still very slow due to the number of requests (even when the 0-9 server prefixes are used to maximize the # of available connections).
So my next step beyond this was to try to make each of the "download/grab/re-serve image" method calls asynchronous - and it worked!
...but only on my dev box running in debug mode.
When I pushed it up to the live site, it was faster, but it left some of the images unloaded, which is of course unacceptable.
So here is what I was hoping some SO hotshot would know:
1) Why are my asynchronous method calls working while debugging, but not working on the live site?
2) Is there any easier way to get a large number of sparklines of some sort to load quickly on a secure server without making me want to tear my hair out?
2a.) Does anyone have any experience using the ASP.NET Chart Library? Is this something I should investigate?
2b.) A co-worker suggested I make my own sparkline routine using a 1x1 CSS background image and varying the height. The problems are a) it is completely un-extensible in case we want to make changes; b) it seems hacky as hell (leaves about a bajillion DIVs per sparkline in the markup); and c) I have no idea if it will be fast enough when there are 100-200 of them on one page - what are your thoughts on the feasibility of the 1x1 sprite approach?

I have 3 security question drop down menus. I have javascript on the ASPX page that removes questions/repopulates them when you select a questions (so you cannot reselect the questions in the other 2 boxes). This works wonderfully when a user is editing their profile with already selected questions. However, when a user first selects the questions where all three boxes are listing "select a question" at selectedIndex 0, the onChange doesn't fire. The function won't even go. I think this has a big something to do with the on change from selected index of 0. I have debugged this thing and it doesn't even enter the function. I even set the onchange action to flash an alert. It just seems something is going wrong when i try to action onchange from selected index of 0.
