Passing JQuery Object And WebMethod Return Value To OnSuccess Function

Mar 31, 2010

I am calling a WebMethod from this code:

if($(this).attr("checked")) {
..
MyWebMethod(variable1, variable2, onSuccessFunction);
}

The MyWebMethod returns an integer, and I want to set $(this).attr("id") of the jQuery object above to the returned integer. Basically, I'm trying to do the equivalent of an MVC Ajax.ActionLink...AjaxOptions {UpdateTargetID =...} However, I can't figure out how to get both a reference to $(this) as well as the returned value. For example, if I do:

MyWebMethod(variable1, variable2, onSuccessFunction($(this)));

I can succesfully manipulate the jQuery object, but obviously it doesn't have the return value from the MyWebMethod. Alternatively, the first code block with a method signature of onSuccessFunction(returnValue) has the correct return value from MyWebMethod, but no concept of the jQuery object I'm looking for. Am I going about this all wrong?

Calling Jquery Function From Ascx Not Working?

I have an ascx which contains a submit button for a search criteria and I am trying to call a validation function in a js file I've used throughout the site (this is the first time I'm using it in an ascx).

Now I've just tried this:

<script type="text/javascript" src="js/jquery-1.3.2.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="js/jsAdmin_Generic_SystemValidation.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function () {

[Code]....

Now at first I was getting "Validate() is not a function" in firebug. Since I did that alert testing, I am getting the first alert, then nothing with no errors.

JQuery :: Calling Code Behind Method From Javascript Function?

I have a java script function which presents a countdown timer.when the timer reaches zero, I want to somehow activate a function on the server side in the code-behind.I understand it is impossible to directly call a server-side function, but is there a simple way to still fire it?I want to fire the (event-handler) code behind function: protected void ButtonFinish_Click(object sender, EventArgs e).

var _countDowncontainer = 0;
var _currentSeconds = 0;
function ActivateCountDown(strContainerID, initialValue) { _countDowncontainer = document.getElementById(strContainerID);

In the aspx, I have this:

<script type="text/javascript">

I am simulating an error in Page_Load, but its not firing the alert. If I switch the code from OnError to OnLoad, it works great.

JQuery-AJAX Calling Page Method / How To Return Value Back To JQuery

Jan 31, 2011

If I use jQuery AJAX to call a specific ASP.NET page method how to have that method return a value back to the AJAX method that called it?

Update

My situation is I have an existing web application with many existing methods. I would like to be able to use jQuery to execute some of these methods and then update the UI with the results. My mandate is to stay away from ASP.NET AJAX and stick with jQuery. Management is concerned about continued development and support with ASP.NET AJAX from Microsoft. I agree with them.

AJAX :: Modal Calling VB Code Behind Function?

Feb 16, 2010

I have just discovered the modal function and so am fairly new to it.I have a signup procedure that requires a member to be approved by the website administrator.During this Approval I wanted to display a Modal after the Approve button is pressed, which I have managed to do , but I have a textbox on my Modal so that the administrator can enter special notes about the members application. Once the OK button on the Modal has been clicked I want the Modal to save the content of the textbox back to database along with a couple of other things like changing the application status to approved and entering an approval date. I can do this in the codebehind no problem but how do I get the Modal to call the codebehind function and capture the content of the text box from the modal.I thought I could do this by setting the "OnOkScript" parameter on the Modal Popup Extender to the name of my code behind function but this just errors, presumably because it is looking for a jscript function? So my next step is to call the codebehind function from a jscript on the page.

C# - Calling Jquery Plugin From .cs File?

Oct 5, 2010

I have a custom control which is used on many pages. I am making use of a jQuery plugin shown in the below link. [URL]

Problem is this plugin loads on the pages which take time to load and fails on those which load quickly.I also have multiple instances of this plugin on the same pages. I have tried calling the plugin in two different ways as listed below. But it is making no difference.I am doing everything in .cs file. I don't have aspx or ascx file.

01)

Page.ClientScript.RegisterStartupScript(GetType(), "dropdownchecklistOrg-setup" +
this.GetHashCode(), string.Format("$(document).ready(function() {{ $('#{0}').custSelectBox();}});", listBox.ClientID), true);

02)

Page.ClientScript.RegisterStartupScript(GetType(), "dropdownchecklistOrg-setup" + this.GetHashCode(), string.Format("$('#{0}').custSelectBox();", listBox.ClientID), true);

I get the below error on the pages which are loaded quickly.

$('#ctl00_FullRegion_MainRegion_EditForm_PredefinedLocations_DropdownCheckList').custSelectBox() is not a function.

This issue was due to different versions of jQuery library being loaded. I had 3 plugins on the same page. 1 plugin was loading jQuery 1.42 version and the other 2 plugins were loading jQuery 1.32 version.If the 1.42 version was loaded at start up the other two plugins would fail to work.
