I am trying to create a forgot password section within my login section and it doesnt seem to work.
In my forgotpassword.aspx page my code looks like this:
[code]....
According to our records, you have requested that your password be reset. Your new password is: <%Password%>

What I'm tryin to achieve now is to apply a different layout dependingon which user is logged. However, I cannot do any of this kind of conditional logic in the page itself. What I was thinking was an action filter that tests the current user, and if they are logged in applies one layout to the view and if they are not applies a different layout to the view.
View 6 RepliesA client has an ASP.NET website with master pages and a layout directory.
What we need is 2 different layouts on the site. Can I easily have two layouts with different master pages on the same site?
What's the best way to do that?
I am a .Net developer with almost 4 years of experience. Until now I have been using tables for creating layouts of my websites and I am quite experienced with this technique. I have been trying to design table less (CSS based) designs for the past few months and I have acquired a lot of knowledge about CSS. However, I feel that if the design is very complex or needs out of the box thinking than I am unable to create such layouts. I have read many books and seen many videos but most of them will create layouts of designs that are fairly straight forward and not too complex. Can anyone guide me to a complete book or training that can satisfy my needs and also teach me the thought process behind implementing CSS layouts.
View 4 RepliesFor our next project (a small app in ASP.NET/C#) we have to create drag and drop zones in the UI so that components/widgets can be dragged and dropped and layouts can be changed dynamically (for example, the user should be able to switch between two-column to a three-column layout from the front end). After doing some searching, I got to know that there are two approaches: Use Web parts and Content-zones. Using jQuery.
I also learnt that jQuery approach is preffered, but I would like to know how can I create such zones in my application and also save these zones per user (in the D so that when the new request comes for that user their preferred layout is displayed? I basically want to know if there are some tutorials on creating persistable drag and drop zones using jQuery.
My system: I have installed Windows 7, VS2010 and .NET40 and ASPAJAXExtSetup.msi I'm getting the error below.
Error Summary. HTTP Error 500.19 - Internal Server Error The requested page cannot be accessed because the related configuration data for the page is invalid.
What would be a suitable way to share a Master layout and css/image resources across seperate websites applications on the same server.
Primarily, an update to the Master layout application must not require all the other applications to be rolled out again, they must seemlessly update.
I'm after a bit of advice on how to handle a multi tenant site in ASP.NET from a UI perspective. What I want to be able to offer is a choice of layouts to the client i.e.
Layout 1: Navigation horizontal at the top. Search results in a table in the middle. Some text at the bottom.
Layout 2: Navigation vertical on the left. Some text in the middle. Search results at the bottom
Layout 3, Layout 4, Layout x etc...
Each element within the various layouts can differ too. For example, the search results might look like simple list in Layout 1, but will have a completely different look in Layout 2. Once a client has decided on Layout x, I then need to apply their company identity to the layout by changing the colours, logos, etc.
i am working on a project in which i have to create newsletters. We wish to give user functionality of editing the complete layout ( drag and drop if possible) I am able to achieve drag and drop with web parts but can't customise them much like adding richtext box and saving multiple copies of same page with different layouts. I then wish to enable user to send the html only part of page which contains dynamic layout.
View 1 RepliesMy application requirement is, there should be different Layout themes (not only colors but also controls can be at different location), which user can easily change. How I can do that?
For eg. In wordPress there are different layout themes,
How should be the site folder structure? How I can implement that?

I'm trying to create a member section for my website and a non member section. I want the nonmember pages to have access to all the member pages but just not certain features like saving to the database. Is there a way to have the same page for both members and non members but have certain controls like buttons and other things that are only usable to the member that is logged in?
View 5 RepliesI need to know the best way to do the following. I have nested business level APIs (say level 1 & level 2). L1 needs to call L2. Both APIs use the database layer directly at their own nesting levels.
Now, in the database layer, I fetch the db connection from the pool each time as follows:
SqlConnection conn = new SqlConnection(connString);
conn.Open();
Is it proper to fetch the db connection each time on every DB level call as above? I know it will return a connection from the ASP.NET connection pool. However, wouldn't it be better to maintain the same DB connection throughout the nested calls (or throughout the current http request lifetime)? Will fetching a connection from the pool each time cause issues with nested TransactionScopes?
Is there a better, cleaner way to do this in ASP.NET 2.0?
An ASP.NET 2.0 page displays a datalist of records. Each record can have many dates, so the dates are in a nested gridview (I chose a gridview over a datalist here because we want to be able to delete a date and this is easier done in a gridview). The parent record can never be deleted.
The display works fine: the nested gridview gets its datasource during the parent datalist's OnItemDataBound event.
The problem: the nested gridview's delete function. The date gets deleted without a problem (handled in the OnRowDeleting event), but somehow the redisplay is untying all the other nested gridviews from their datasources. The delete does not appear to cause a page postback, so I don't know how the other nested gridviews are losing their datasources.
I have this error: The configuration section 'connectionStrings' cannot be read because it is missing a section declaration on my site when loading this page [URL]. The rest of the site works [URL] Setup:The server is a hosting company - Mocha Hosting. [URL] contains a phpbb forum. This has been installed via the hosting company's web tool (Plesk). There is a root web.config, but there isn't in the /forum/ folder. The forum folder has been set by the phpbb installation wizard to be a virtual directory and application - and it appears to not have asp.net configured on it. The forum worked BEFORE uploading the root web.config file, and again if i temporarily remove the root web.config.

View 2 RepliesI'm trying to create a nested gridview, but I'm stuck at the editing/deleting part of the nested gridview. (Below is my code).The nested gridviews are filling out nice, I've set the DeleteParameter in the SQLDataSource, but I'm still getting this error when trying to delete a criteria: 'The Gridview 'gvCriteria' fired event RowDeleting which wasn't handled.'I've tried to create a method 'gvCriteria_RowDeleting', but that didn't seem to work out.Someone who can give me a piece of advice? Would it be possible to fill the gridview without using gvDomain_rowDataBound? Dries

And the C# behind:

Objective:
Have the MultiView1 display only if Frieght values exceed 15.50. If check box is checked, retreive the row values of the Gridview1 and Gridview2 to perform a task.There will be two check boxes. One will be conditionally hidden. Each check box has a different function.

How to set the selected value for this Dropdownlist box?
<%=p.MessageType%>.. this is the value I am getting from database so that In my Grid what ever the Value coming form database it will show in the Dropdownlistbox on the Grid now its showing me as Default value P even Database value B

View 4 RepliesI like to handle and compare a lot of date times in my repeater even I have to work more than one time with the same.
It's a bit ugly, to cast everywhere the Eval("MyDate") like ((DateTime)Eval("MyDate")) to substract 2 datetimes or to compare it, even if you have to do this more than in one operation.
I thought of saving all the evals in a var at start of the repeater?
DateTime mydt1 = Eval("myDate");
DateTime mydt2 = Eval("mydate");
after that, it's easy to do any operations in the whole repeater. Hope you understand my idea. Is this possible? I tried short but everytime errors.
mydt1 - mydt2....
