Can I create dynamic routes instead of mapping them manually in MVC?
I have this incoming url request having more than 5 routes and possible in random orders.
www.websitename.com/sports/winner-today/track-order/player-1/player-2/player-3/player-4/player-5/player-6
In global.asax, I do this...
routes.MapRoute( _
"SportsTrackWinner", _
"sports/winner-today/track-order/player-1/player-2/player-3/player-4/player-5/player-6", _
New With {.controller = "SportsTrackWinner", .action = "Index"} _
)
But, my website has different track winners for a specific day, like,
www.websitename.com/sports/winner-today/track-order/player-2/player-1/player-3/player-4/player-6/player-5
Now imagine the probability of random winners and the number of mapping rules I have to create in global.asax. [:(]
I try using catchall parameters, like
routes.MapRoute( _
"SportsTrackWinner", _
"sports/winner-today/track-order/{*players}", _
New With {.controller = "SportsTrackWinner", .action = "Index"} _
)
But it can't capture any querystring value pass at Controller parameters.

Using the a Membership provider and the MVC framework, is it possible that routes are dynamically changed so that a already logged in user goes to his own page, rather than the default.
At the moment I go to the default. If the user is already logged in or not, there I do a redirect to their own page. This can't be the correct way! Can it?
In RegisterRoutes I have this
routes.IgnoreRoute("{resource}.axd/{*pathInfo}");

I am having this issue with a web application. I have built a CMS that uses URL Routing, which I have loaded dynamicall from the database. My Global.asax File looks like this:

My code works just fine, but every time I change the table clr_SystemRoutes, (inserting a new route definition) I am forced to copy the global.asax file to the web server, even though it hasn't changed. I am assuming this causes some event that re-registers the RouteTable, but I'm not sure. What can I do to make the RouteTable something I can change without having to do that. Is there a way to re register the routes programmatically or is there an existing method to do this?

I have a database table that contains list of all UserTypes(constant strings) used in the application.
What is the best way to store(what datastructure do I need) these so that code can access them ?
The need is similar to enum, but I want to associate these values to those in DB so that there will not be 2 places to edit in case of adding/removing an entry.
one other option I considered is using public static readonly string, but how to associate with those values in DB ?

Using the Entity Framework that I generated. I have a Roles table created during the default system AspNetSqlRoleProvider security set-up.In the Roles table, I have an ApplicationId uniqueidentifier column. Which has a guid populated in it, which doesn't change for my application. I need to add a Role manually through my app using the entity framework. However, when creating my Roles object and setting Roles.ApplicationId. It expects a type of Guid. I have the ApplicationId in my web.config app settings. As it shouldn't change. But it is returned at string. I cannot type cast the value either to use in Roles.ApplicationId. What can I do to use my current ApplicationId value when trying to create a new role manually using the EF?

I'm using a website as a frontend and all users are authenticated with the standard ASP.NET Membership-Provider. Passwords are saved "hashed" within a SQL-Database.Now I want to write a desktop-client with administrative functions. Among other things there should be a method to reset a users password. I can access the database with the saved membership-data, but how can I manually create the password-salt and -hash? Using the System.Web.Membership Namespace seems to be inappropriate so I need to know how to create the salt and hash of the new password manually.

I am trying to create an Area for running DynamicData with scaffolding as an administration part. It's probably working as it should but I can't get the routing to work.
In my global.asax I have the following function to register the routes:

Unfortunately the "best" thing that happened to me so far was that when I check the default tables I get a message about (MetaModel.VisibleTables)

The problem is that I don't know why this is. Is it the routing or something else? Is it perhaps some security thing or can I not put dynamic data inside an area?
The DynamicData folder itself is located in the root of the application since that is the convention it uses and I have no intention to override that.

I have a project where I need to create menu buttons from a list in SQL Server. The problem I am having is that I need to add code to the text of those buttons. So there would be a birthday button and it should display the number of birthdays within the next two weeks or a button with the number of upcoming events.
Clarification:
There is no code yet, just some requirements. What I am doing is querying a table to get the list of buttons to display. Now each of these buttons may have dynamic text, for things like count of birthdays, events,etc... I am trying to see what the best way would be to handle this. Should I embed a snippet of code to go along with the menu item to execute when I iterate over the menu items? Maybe I should build a javascript file to go along with the code, which I add code to query a service for certain menu items?

i am a beginner and i have done a tutorial to create a dynamic asp.net web app. I want to host it on my own laptop to the world wide web.
I have copied the content to my C:/inetpub.wwwroot and used IIS 7 to make an associated website. I can open the site in a browser by typing http:/localhost/mysite in the url field. Thing is I want to see it on the www. I have registered a domain name. I guess I have to map the domain name to the physical server on my machine. How do I do this? I am using a wifi router.

My problem would be the following:
Lets say, I have to create a few buttons runtime ( LinkButton b = new LinkButton(); setting an ID, text, Click +=, etc )
