MVC :: How To Pass All The Option List Item From The Drop Down List To View Model

I have a requirement in my application that, while saving the application, need to get all the value from drop down list and pass it to the view model. But application should not allow the user to select more than one item from drop down list manually, ie, only one value at a time. My view model is like ...

I'm using Model-View-Presenter framework. When Loading a page, I'm having trouble setting the selected item that came from the Database.
In view, I know I need:
protected void ddlStatus_SelectedIndexChanged(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
presenter.DdlStatusSelectedIndexChanged();
// what should this pass?
}
Then in Presenter:
public void DdlStatusSelectedIndexChanged()

view.DdlStatus = ???

I also think that part of my problem is that DdlStatus I have as a List.

I am working with a model which has the following, basically a Project can have a score between -5 and 5 and I'd like to show a dropdownlist of the available options, i.e 5,4,3,2,1,0,-1,-2,-3,-4,-5.

I got in the controller action:
var reports = new List<Report>();
reports.Add(new Report {Title = "Inventory (monthly)"});
reports.Add.......
However, the words are truncated when passed to the view.
The words after the space is truncated.
ie. it just passed the word "Inventory".

I have two drop down list on a page. The first one list projects and the second list users. The userlist is populated with an object datasourse that pulls a list of users for the selected Project.Whenever the Project list selection changes the second ddl Userlist always reverts to the first person in the list instead the person that was selected before a new Project was chosen.

I am trying to create an MVC List View that can be filtered by the value selected from a drop down list.
Selecting a value should repost the page ... Since there is no concept of view state data I am having some issues with this ... I can get the repost to take place but my drop down resets and I am not able to get the value that was selected.

In my controller I generated a SelectList that I pass to the dropdown helper:<%= Html.DropDownList("abc123", Model.SomeList) %>I look at the querystring for a value, which is a ID.I then loop through all the items in the SelectList and if it is equal to the ID, I do:The controller action then passes this SelectList to the view and then to the Html helper.In debug mode I can see the value does get set to true, but the html renders without selecting the item.

I have a list with 2 sorts of items. Items that have actual values (1,2,3,4 etc) and items that are like group headings so all their values are set to 0. If someone decides to select a group heading - which has a value of 0, is it possible to redirect them to my 'Select an item' item which has a value of ""?
If worse comes to worse, I can just reconstruct the entire list, although if possible I'd like to avoid it.

I have my class RoomType:
Int32 Id
String Name
String ColorCode
My viewmodel gets a List<Roomtype> RoomTypes which should be displayed in a dropdown.
Each dropdown option item should have: 1) as title the Name, 2) as value the Id, and 3) the style background-color #ColorCode.
My problems are how to convert this list correctly into a List<SelectListItem> as required by ASP.NET MVC's DropDownFor helper, and then to have the correct values inserted for each option.
I've tried to have a new readonly property in my viewmodel, which has a getter RoomtypeSelectList which returns new SelectList(RoomTypeList) but I can't get the correct properties to show (Name, Id, Background color).

How can I make the first item in a drop down list non selectable. I want this first list-item to show up when the page is opened and want to populate the rest of the DDL from a backend DB. I don't want this default first item in the list to be selected (just want to show it as a default value)
I want it to look something like this.
Choose a State: (Appearing on the top of DDL, but cant be selected)

I am trying to set the item that is selected from a drop down list based on what it in the database for that particular record. I am filling the dropdown list with a SQL DataSource I have tried a couple of example that I have found for selecting the item in the list but I am always getting the first item in the list as the selected item. I fill a the drop down list with a SQL select query, but i want to add a first default item, something like "- Select an option -" or "All"
What im trying to do is make a dynamic SQL query, something like this:
SELECT * FROM table1 WHERE (value1 = ? AND value2 = ? AND value3 = ? )........ (or "like" instead of "=")
You are gonna have to select those arguments from 3 drop down lists, but i wanna have a default value on the top of the drop down list options and send a "*" as value if this option its selected, so the filter doesn't consider that value

I have a asp.net mvc view which is strongly typed view and i have a controller which returnsthe ilist user based on the id provided. I am getting the following above error:

I have tried changing enabled=false, but that just removes it completley from the list.

It is dynamic, not static.i have a button in the gridview called 'add'. so when user clicks on it the row (whatever columns in the row) would be inserted into database. i am doing insertion/create for this.

Alright heres my scenario. I click on an event and a new aspx page opens. I have two drop down lists and three text boxes. All populated with the data from the database. But when the page opens the drop down lists always show the item that is at the top of the list. Not the actual item that is in the database.
So say the name John should be there in one and a car names honda. But instead it shows alex and acura. These are just examples. But it alwasy starts with the item at the top

i have a small app. the database has two tables. Category(CategoryId, Category), Quote(Id, CategoryId, Quote) these two tables are related via FK (CategoryId). In my page i have a simple drop down list, button and lable. user selects a value from drop down list like 'politics', 'comedy', 'famous' etc and then they hit the generate quote which should fetch a quote from the quotes table by passing a value like 'politics'.
however, i need to pass an int value (ID) from my drop down since that is the value which will fetch corresponding quote using my SP but (1) how do i pass a drop down value's ID and (2) is the SP below correctly done?

In my application i used drop down list dynamically so that if i enter the the value in the text box that many drop down list genrated with data from database. if i select the different iteam in the drop down list it will not changed it remains the first iteam of the dropdown list. if i use post back event is true in code part that drop down list is not visible.

I've got a drop down list that I want to populate with items from a SQL Server database, which I did successfully, but I can't figure out how to write an if statement that will clear the drop down list based on a selected index and repopulate it with data from another table. The drop down list is inside an update panel that auto posts back.
Basically I want to allow the user to choose an item, but rather than populate another drop down list control, i just want to repopulate the current one with new data.I'm guessing that if I want to get data from more than one table the code below isn't going to work for me. Could I get the data from all the tables at once and store each table data in its own variable until I need to use it? (Each table will have under 10 items, in 5 tables.)

When it creates a view using the list scaffold the headings are hard coded. I want to pull the headings from the data model, but no luck. I was assuming LabelFor would be the solution. I must be missing something basic.

In Model-View-Presenter what is the correct pattern to do a page that:
a) contains a grid for browsing a list of items
b) an alternate mode for editing single items .maybe you are toggling between two asp:panels.
Do you just make the presenter smart enough to do two types of presentations?
Make 2 presenters?
I'm new to this pattern and want to do it correctly. I understand how I would do this functionality on two pages. Just not sure what is the accepted practice when the browse and detail exist on the same page.

I have a details view that's part of a master/details scenario. When a record is selected it shows the details view. The Pay Status field is a label at this point, when the details view is in read only mode. But then when the edit button is clicked the Pay Status is a DDL that has it's items list populated declaratively.
I want the DDL to default to the text value of the label. This will be hourly or salary. This way if the user doesn't change it's value it will push the correct value to the db.
I tried something with the PreRender event but couldn't get it to work out. Below is what i have so far I wasn't sure how to assign the text property of the label or bind to the label to get the value and set that for the DataTextField.
