From The Parent, Force An IFrame To Redirect The Entire Page?
Jun 8, 2010My site has an iFrame that displays content from and second site. I don't control the second site. When a user clicks on a link in the iFrame, I want it to redirect the entire page, not just the iFrame. I've seen solutions for doing this from the iFrame, but I need to do it solely from the parent. I'd prefer to do it in the code behind, but a javascript solution would be acceptable.

So when the modalpopup is shown, the parent of the modalpopup is the iframe body and the main page parent body. Thus the overlay only covers the iframe and not the entire page. You have to use target attribute in form tag:
<form runat=server target=_blank> // new window
or
<form runat=server target=_top> // above all frames
or
<form runat=server target=_parent> //parent frame
or
<form runat=server target=someframe> // a frame by name
This can only work if the Server.Transfer is invoked from within the form such as a button click.
If your Server.Transfer method is in the Page_load event (which isn't a form event), how do you set a target window to Server.Transfer?

This always open the results.aspx in iframe. I want that results.aspx should always open in the parent window. I tried the following till now but none worked:

If a page generates an error on any of the frames, I want to redirect the whole site back to the Default.aspx. Currently, when a frame page errors in one of the frames, that frame gets the error pages. Site is URL.... Is this something that can be handled?

The popup window holds some emailing data and a button "send". This "send" button onclick send email. Now I want to return true if the email is successfully sent otherwise false, to the parent window. Depending on returning value a label present on parent window displays a text message. But I am not able to implement it. Because it might happen that the popup window is blocked by web-browsers popup blocker or popup window is accidentally closed by user. So how can I confirm to parent window whether or not the email is successfully sent?

2)passing the variables as parameteres:

I don't know if it's appropiated passing 8 or 10 variables as the option2 because the user will see a very long url with all the variables, but maybe is more efficient than using Sessions.... Anyway, could somebody clear me up?

Oct 22, 2010Im having the flowwing problem i have a gridview that i want to list many records when i click on a row iwant to be able to click on a button and go to the form of this record in order to update it. All the navigation works fine.I click on the button and then using javascript i window.open the page that has the form the problem is that when the new page loads the parent page (the page that has the gridview refreshes and because there are many records it is really annoying how can i use window open to pop up a child page without having the parent window to refresh.
Because im using all this in a dotnetnuke framework i have tried enabling and disabling partial rendering to the parent page page but always refreshes when i open the child window
