If not, where did it go? It used to live in System.Web.Mvc -- not anymore.

C# - Parseable MVC Razor Syntax

But to make it parseable I have to write it this way:
<b>@parameterMapping.Title</b> <text>(Category: </text> @parameterMapping.Category.Title <text>, Regexp:</text> @parameterMapping.Regexp <text>)</text>
Are there better ways to solve this problem?

Oct 27, 2010It's great that Razor HTML encodes by default. However, many times I have HTML in a database and want to display it literally on a page. In WebForms 4, we can use <%= %> and <%: %> to choose between encoding options. Raven's syntax is currently @(new HtmlString(Model.Greeting)).
add a shorter syntax to Razor. Something like @=Model.Greeting or @@Model.Greeting, or something else.
MVC 3 Razor Syntax - Partial View Menu.cshtml With Full Markup
Mar 27, 2011This question appear when I worked with partial view (MVC3/Razor), but I am sure - it's clear Razor Syntax question, not related direct to partial view. So - I have partial view Menu.cshtml with full markup as:
@model IEnumerable<SportsStore.WebUI.Models.NavLink>
@foreach(var link in Model)
{
@Html.RouteLink(link.Text, link.RouteValues);
}
No problem - "parent" view call it @{Html.RenderAction("Menu", "Nav");} and all work as magic.
But, if I will edit the Menu.cshtml as:
@model IEnumerable<SportsStore.WebUI.Models.NavLink>
@foreach(var link in Model)
{
Html.RouteLink(link.Text, link.RouteValues);
}
(see - NO '@' before Html.RouteLink!) all just broke: now @{Html.RenderAction("Menu", "Nav");} output is totally empty, no one HTML tag. Want to know - what is the difference between two piece of code? I assume @ before foreach also automatically "drop into" and apply to Html.RouteLink as well? So - am I wrong?

Writing Internal ToMVCHmlString In TagBuilder
Mar 23, 2010I am looking to write a few helpers in my own assembly modeled after the helpers in System.web.mvc. My problem is that I cannot use the call to Tagbuilder.ToMvcHtlString since it is internal. So if I return a string it wont be ready for asp.net 4 when it comes.
I don't want to add anything to system.web.mvc as that is a given dll.
MVC :: Bug With HtmlHelper.GenerateIdFromName Versus TagBuilder.GenerateId
Jun 29, 2010When upgrading to mvc2 i noticed some of my javascript that was keying on "Points[0]_Id" (this is invalid for an html id btw) started to fail. I pulled up the source and noticed that the TagBuilder class now generates valid client id's and replaces all invalid characters with the "IdAttributeDotReplacement" (which is a terrible name now, since it's not just a dot replacement character anymore). I started to look for a way to generate client id's using a helper built into mvc and came across HtmlHelper.GenerateIdFromName, but this still generates ids the invalid way!
TagBuilder.GenerateId( "Points[0].Id" ) = "Points_0__Id"
HtmlHelper.GenerateFromName( "Points[0].Id" ) = "Points[0]_Id"
IMO: the tagbuilder class or the GenerateFromName code should not be duplicated in two different spots or else you will get errors like this. Also I consider this change made to TagBuilder.GenerateId to be a breaking change and should be included in the breaking changes section of the release notes.
C# - Can Control The Order In Which The TagBuilder Class Renders Attributes?
Aug 12, 2010I know this is kind of obsessive, but is there a way to control the order that the TagBuilder class renders the attributes of an HTML tag when you call ToString()?
i.e. so that
var tb = new TagBuilder("meta");
tb.Attributes.Add("http-equiv", "Content-Type");
tb.Attributes.Add("content", "text/html; charset=utf-8");
tb.ToString(TagRenderMode.SelfClosing)
will return
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
not
<meta content="text/html; charset=utf-8" http-equiv="Content-Type" />
Changing the order that you add the attributes doesn't change it, it seems to be rendering in alphabetical order

But this C# syntax does not:

Note, I am not using ASP.NET MVC, but this works fine if using System.Web.Mvc.ViewPage<> from ASP.NET MVC.

Web Forms :: Master Page Does Not Recognize "dropped" Controls From Toolbox
Dec 2, 2010I am Desgining a website with asp.net and I have a problem with one of my master pages: I cannot add a control and then use it in the code behind becase the compiler sends me a " null exception". When I try to debug the reason, Before the exception it says the control has a null value. This makes it extremely hard for me, as I have to use the "<%= %>" instead of asp.net controls. This happens wheter I write the conrol my self in mark up, or drag the control from the toolbox. Here is the exception from the compiler:
