Master Page Sometimes Take Much Page Loading Time?
Dec 21, 2010Sometimes master page makes the application slow according to the page load time in respect to individual page.

Apr 8, 2010I have a site where I am trying to implement a jQuery UI based MessageBox in my master page. Content pages are arranged accoring to business area folders, i.e. '~/Branding/Contracts.aspx'. I find that when I load such a content page, jQuery, which is referenced in the master page as below, does not load. I assume that this is because the browser is requesting 'Branding/Scripts/jQuery What can I do about this? I don't have the 'root' operator in a plain 'script' tag.

Loading ScriptManager Only Once Either From Master Page Or Content Page?
Sep 6, 2010I have an web application of 200 web pages and all has a single master page. Most of the content pages use AJAX controls so most of content pages has its own ScriptManager. Now I have a requirement to add a link with HoverMenuExtender control and for that I need to put ScriptManager in the Master page, but it is working only in the content pages where there is not ScriptManager.
All the other content pages which has ScriptManager throws the error Only one instance of a ScriptManager can be added to the page. I don't want to work on most of the content pages again to remove ScriptManager. Is there any easy way to do this something like coding in Master page which decides if there is already ScriptManager already, then don't load it.
Master Page Is Loading After Content Page?
Dec 3, 2010I'm having a problem with the load order on my project. I've got a website with a series of content pages which need to access a central set of variables (UserID, etc..). To me, the best way to store this information is in a series of session variables, and the best way to load this information is via the onload method of the Master page. However, my content page onload method is getting called first, throwing a series of null exceptions. From everything I have read, the master page should be loaded first, and then the content page.

Jul 14, 2010I recently re-develop our company's web system. However, when I just finished everything, our internal user complains that the page is noticable slower than the old one. I tested it on my machine and it seems to be ok. As it is a major concern of my manager, I decide to add a bit of code to return the time comsumed in page loading. Can someone give some idea about it? What I try to know is: from the time user click on "submit" button until the page is fully loaded to the user, how many seconds it costs. I have ajax in the page. Is it possible to do it in js? or any other sort of way is fine too.

Jun 11, 2010I have a master page in my website. I want some sort of container to load external website in my contentplaceholder.Frames and object tags are the tried options. My DOC type doesn't support Frames and object tag has that scroll border displayed by default and I can't remove it because it will be a page from another domain.
On the loaded site the users will be able to browse and search products, so I just dont want to read the html once. That will be the actual website loaded/displayed.

Feb 10, 2010I am dynamically creating a table of checkboxes on my test.aspx page. The dimensions (row and column count) of the table are determined by querying the database. In test.aspx page, I do the following:

Right now I have the number of rows=20 and columns=10, but it can increase (with the columns more likely). I used the Net tab in Firebug to ascertain the time taken by different events and found that GetTest.aspx is taking close to 4 minutes, which is too long a time to wait. Is there a way to being down the page load time? Is my approach to create dynamic check boxes correct?

It is working fine in my local machine and in development server.
The problem is only in production server.

for this it was taking some 30 to 40 seconds. so instead of showing nothing in the page
I am using update panel and update progress bar.
everything is ok but when progress image is showing in the page that time it's moving only one time and stop and before completing page postback.

Apr 15, 2010I am using a master page with a treeview control. I have 2 other pages Summary.aspx and Home.aspx
I want the Summary page to be loaded when I run the application but afterwards I want to load the Home.aspx page based on the selected Node change event of the treeview control.
I have placed the treeview control in master page because it has to remian the same for all my pages.
Did I do something wrong? The problem is I am not able to load the pages based on events occuring for Tree view control.

Jan 18, 2011We have installed a web site written by others which is compiled with Visual Studio 2008 and hosted in Windows server 2008 R2.
The IIS connection timeout is set to 120 seconds. But for some pages, the first page loading fails with HTTP 404 error but sequential refresh can bring the page up. The same problem happens for some images which fail to load in web pages. We are not very sure it is network related issue or hosting issue.

Dec 29, 2010I have a master page which contains a treeview and a linkbutton. i have used 3 different stylesheets for the same page and those are listed in dropdownlist on the same master page. on dropdownlist change() event stylesheet of the master page change, i have 1 default style sheet which will come as master page loads.
now the problem is when i changed stylesheet from dropdown list, stylesheet changes the master page , but after that when if i clicked on treeview or linkbutton the stylesheet is restored to default one.

I'm assuming this since to my understanding controls need first to be put into the control tree before they can be assigned their declarative values? And when page has a master page associated with it, then aren't page's controls put into the control tree only during the Pre_Init or perhaps even during the Init event? Then if that is the case, then isn't the earliest that these controls can be assigned their declarative values during Init event?
b) Assuming our page is associated with Master page and also uses a theme --> skin files are also applied during an Init event, so I assume that during an Init event Asp.Net first initializes controls to their declarative values and only then applies skin rules to them?
State Management :: Master Page's Treeview Selected Node / Setting The Properties In Master Page?
Aug 2, 2010I have a master page containing a tree and 3 dropdown lists. I am populating a context menu on right click of each node, and when clicked on any item of the context menu, it navigates to required pages.
My problem is after navigating to the required page, the selected values from the drop down lists and the selected node from the tree are getting cleared.
I can set the selected values for the dropdown lists by making some properties in master page.
But how do i maintain the selected node?
In my content page, i have got the valuepath of the right clicked node.
Or is there any other way than setting the properties in master page?

Also, I added the controls tblrowErrMsg and lblErrMsg as server controls to the Master Page.
Why I am doing this ?
This will allow me to display error messages from nearly any where inside the code in code-behined, app_code, and other core Class Projects (DLL).
