Web Forms :: Use Master Page - Controls Created During Design Time Initialized?
Jan 18, 2010
a) Assuming a page has a master page associated with it, then all controls (those declared in master page and those declared in content page) created during design time are assigned declarative values only during an Init event? I'm assuming this since to my understanding controls need first to be put into the control tree before they can be assigned their declarative values? And when page has a master page associated with it, then aren't page's controls put into the control tree only during the Pre_Init or perhaps even during the Init event? Then if that is the case, then isn't the earliest that these controls can be assigned their declarative values during Init event?
b) Assuming our page is associated with Master page and also uses a theme --> skin files are also applied during an Init event, so I assume that during an Init event Asp.Net first initializes controls to their declarative values and only then applies skin rules to them?
Am I right in assuming that only after controls on Master page are merged into the control tree for the Page, can controls ( both those in Master page and in a content Page ) be initialized with their declarative values ( values set during design time)? b) If my above assumption is correct, then these controls cannot be initialized with their design-time values during Page.PreInit, since during Page.PreInit event stage we're still able to dynamically set a Master page?! So if that is the case, when are controls initialized with their declarative values? During Init event orā
I have a page with features supplied from both a master page and a child master page.In the content placeholder for the head in both master pages I have supplied the link to the stylesheet for the site.In Design View in VS 2008 the CSS code seems to be functioning correctly. When viewing in a browser the CSS does not appear to be applied at all.
Here is the CSS code for the div elements within the main content placeholder:
I installed Rad Controls. Using that controls, I designed my application pages. At design time, the design is not visible. It shows the following error:
RadTabStrip1Failed to create designer 'Telerik.Web.UI.RadTabStrip, Telerik.Web.UI, Version=2010.1.415.35, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=121fae78165ba3d4'
In my company we use a control that renders the <link rel="stylesheet"> tags dynamically at runtime (equivalent of scriptmanager who renders <script> tags dynamically). this control is very good, cause it select the appropriate css stylesheets depending on some criterias. The problem is that on design time for Visual Studio there is no designated CSS stylecheet since there is no <link rel="stylesheet"> tags on the page.
If I put <link rel="stylesheet"> tags on the aspx page (to indicate a design time stylesheet) this tag will be rendered to client and it causes conflicts with tags rendered by the control !
I created a .master page having images,.css file. If i created I .aspx page then it displays normally (with master pages content) but if I create .aspx page inside some folder then design is not applying to the sub pages (Only for pages which are inside the folders)
I am developing a website with lot of database interactivity. My 60% website is done. My question is can I add master page to already created pages. does Masterpage affect performance of website while loading pages? I am using gridview in most of website pages
i want to know what to do after desining a page with photoshop and fireworks to make an asp master page using visual studiosimply i have an html page i want to make a master page from it
I am trying to setup my page layout in a masterpage and I havent till now any success.how many divs Im gonna need, and how to position them. Everything I tryied did not work out. On the top left I am gonna have an image logo and on the right of my logo in vertical-height 50% is gonna be set my menu. Actually I dont know how many divs Im gonna need keep in mind that my header div will be 100% width of my page.
One div header including two divs, one for my image and one for my navigation; Two divs..; One div header including one div for my menu or for my logo..;One header div..;Every option looks logical to me but I am sure that one is the most acceptable choise..
But when i go to Design View of the page (for creating the events automatically or for drag/drop any new control from toolbox, I don't want to type everything) the design view only shows the master page! the page controls are complete ignored!
I have a problem with Master Page InherItance. I make master page Item and past Index in the source of Master page Item and Design of Master Page is Ok but in Web page , in Source , I whrit ,
i am creating a simple web portal, but i am stuck in a aspx page which created by inheriting master page ,there is some jscript code, but i don't know where to put this code in that page.
How would I go about creating a desktop application that would be capable of generating an ASP.NET master page, perhaps using drag and drop for the different allowed elements (image, text, video). I would take the co-ordinates and generate a master page that can be used later.
have a asp.net webform application. Now I have to add master page in this application, but I don't know how to merge or add new created master page with old webforms? How to handle html in webforms like <head> , <body> ?
None of my user controls display on a web form at design time. At runtime they work fine and at design time to design the user controls themselve is fine.
Is there a setting that is telling the controls not to render at design time?
I have a master page which contains a treeview and a linkbutton. i have used 3 different stylesheets for the same page and those are listed in dropdownlist on the same master page. on dropdownlist change() event stylesheet of the master page change, i have 1 default style sheet which will come as master page loads.
now the problem is when i changed stylesheet from dropdown list, stylesheet changes the master page , but after that when if i clicked on treeview or linkbutton the stylesheet is restored to default one.
i have written following code
Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load
I have a very strange problem with my website... I created a rather large page, consisting of a few tables with some labels and textboxes where the user can enter a mechanical car setup (it's for a racing game).
I was working with simple textboxes previously, but I recently switched over to a NumericBox control which should allow only numeric input using some client-side javascript. The NumericBox control is simply a UserControl with a single TextBox on it, and some client side events are added to this textbox which call methods from a single javascript file ("Scripts/numericValidator.js")
When I put a couple of these boxes on a page it works just fine, I can only enter numbers. For it to work though I need to add the script to the page and I do that using this line, either in the head content or in the body content controls:
(the path is chosen with the 'Pick URL' dialog so it should be alright, and it does indeed need to go up two directories first as the page is in the '~/Pages/RequireLogon" directory) However, after replacing most of the textboxes on my large page with NumericBoxes, and adding this script line to my aspx code, the design view is 'broken'. I cannot see any of my controls anymore, and I cannot even put any new controls on there. It seems like the Content control is missing, even though it's still there just fine without errors in the aspx code.
When I remove the script line, the problem is fixed again, the controls re-appear. So it's definitely the script line causing the problem, but I cannot see how it could...I tried it with a new blank page and the problem appears there too. If I use this simple page with just a button:
some time sthe design pages takes longer time to open sometimes its proper the code page open immediately but the design page tekes longer time to open but its not always how do i solve
