Web Forms :: Retrieving And Displaying Information Using ASP

Jan 28, 2011

I want to produce a relatively simple webpage which would contain a drop-down list and a button. When the user makes a selection on the drop-down list and clicks the button (or image), the page would query a SQL database and output the results of that query to an iFrame that would be embedded in the lower half of the page. I've managed to figure out the necessary code for populating the drop-down list by using a stored procedure, and I've managed to figure out a way of having the resultset displayed on a second page but I want to now finesse it and get all of the information displayed on a single page.

Web Forms :: Clicking The Label Of A Dropdown List - Resets The Selected Value To The First Item In The List?

Feb 17, 2010

Clicking the label of a drop down list, re-sets the selected value to the first item in the list. This has a history of causing data entry problems when users accidently click on the label.

In the below example ddlContactType has a selected value as 'PRIMARY' and whenever i click on the lblContactType Text, the dropdown box Selected value is changing to "Select One" Text.

How to prevent this one. It should be on PRIMARY Only.

<p>
<tr> <td ><asp:Label ID="lblContactType" Font-Bold="true" Text="Contract Type: *" ForeColor= "red" runat="server" AssociatedControlID="ddlContactType"></asp:Label> </td> <td > <asp:DropDownList runat="server" ID="ddlContactType" DataSourceID="SqlDataSource2" AppendDataBoundItems="true"
DataTextField="TYPE" DataValueField="ID" SelectedValue='<%# Bind("CONTACT_TYPE_ID") %>'>
<asp:ListItem Text="Select One" Value="0" Selected="True"></asp:ListItem>.......

Forms Data Controls :: 2 Dropdown List / "Displaying A Dropdown List Of Categories With A --None -- Option?

Oct 10, 2010

I am stuck at this point "Displaying a dropdown list of Categories with a --None -- Option. I want the gridview control to display 2 dropdown list one in read-only mode and the other in edit mode. Displaying Substrings In Label After Looping Through Checkboxlist?

Feb 17, 2011

I have a checkboxlist which I populate programatically with strings. I then want to loop through the checkboxlist to find which checkboxes are checked by a user and then display the string/strings of the hecked checkboxes in a label. This works fine when I display the whole string/strings. My problem is that I want to display only a substring in the label, i.e. the ID of every string option. When I try this I only get one ID in the label.
