Normally I dont have the login link in the master page. But I have the labels to display the user information on top of master page once logged in and have the sign in option in content page which contains that master page. After sign in , i want to display the user information on the top of the master page without redirecting user to the same page? How can we do this?
View 5 RepliesI have a need to display user-specific information in my master page. As a result, I have set up all of my controllers to be inherited from a "master" controller. This has worked well for other aspects of the master page, such as displaying random quotes. However, while using this technique to incorporate the user-specific information, I ran into a problem where, when I check the Request.IsAuthenticated value, the Request object is null.

I need to query a database and return list of names, then I need to display their pictures and information in a Web Page, using ASP.NET or using JavaScript. The main concern is displaying the pictures and information dynamically on the page in an organized way.
View 5 RepliesI am new to ASP.NET development and I am running into an issue using master/content pages. I have a master file that basically defines all of the layout for my site. The only thing that the content pages are supposed to display is some very basic text/images/html, made available by one ContentPlaceHolder control in the master file.
My problem is in the display. When I view the content page, none of the layout that should be inherited from the master page is displayed -- I end up with just a 'blank' page. What seems odd, is that if I look at the Design View in VS 2005, the content page appears to show the layout that is defined in the master. Here is a sample of the source for the master and one of the content pages...

I have the membership provider and the create user with tow steps, one of the steps contains a custom registration form, for each created user data will be in the database, and there is an account page shows the data that the new created user did insert during the registration process on the custom registration page,
the problem, when the user is created and logged into his account page, this account page shows only the information for the first created user, not the info on the logged in user , but the logged in user data still saved in database and not showing on his account page?

I am working on a project, and I wish to use a master page. I want to experiment with it first. I add a master page; then, I add a default page. I copy some text and paste it in the default page, and I type this is the master page on the master page. When I run the project, the text in the default page always appear on top. How do I get the data on the default page to display to the right of the page, and the text on the master page to appear to the left.
Also, I tried it using menu. I got the same result. The menu was on the master page, but it was displayed at the bottom of the default's page text. I added three pages and was able to naviage between the pages. When I navigated to the second page without text, the menu appeared on the left. I added some text to the second page, and it does the same.

By using <%: Page.User.Identity.Name %> on the Site.Master page I can display the userid of the logged in user.
I would like to use this value and display other information about the user that is stored in a User table in a MsSQL database, like:

I am showing Custom Error in my page.. if somehting happend wrong. but if the same error occured in my subview master page I am not able to show the Custom error page on Entire page its showing me that Error page under subview master page. master page I have all the js files and Css files links and I have submaster page for mainmaster page.. sub master page have three tabs each tab has grid control.if something went wrong I can able to show the Custom Error page but its showing me in submaster page.. not in main master page.....but if something hapend any where I need to show CustoM Error page in main master page..
I want to produce a relatively simple webpage which would contain a drop-down list and a button. When the user makes a selection on the drop-down list and clicks the button (or image), the page would query a SQL database and output the results of that query to an iFrame that would be embedded in the lower half of the page. I've managed to figure out the necessary code for populating the drop-down list by using a stored procedure, and I've managed to figure out a way of having the resultset displayed on a second page but I want to now finesse it and get all of the information displayed on a single page.

Now, if the page has taken some time to load and the user again clicks some other menu, then at some cases, it is crashing. So what i want to do is when postback is happening, I want to restrict the user to click anywhere on the master page or content page. We have achieved this on asynchronous postback.... But cant find a solution during postback.

I've got a web site that has a master page and that master page (mpMaster that has a user control ucControl1) which has a sub user control (ucControl2), this user control has a property which accepts a value. Now, I have a page that uses the master page
and on this page I have another user control (ucPageControl), I need to find a way of setting the value in ucControl2 from ucPageControl. Is this possible at all?
I have at present two master pages, what I want to achieve is the following; One user control loads, there is a button to click, when user clicks that button the user control should unload upon session authentication and the second one loads. However, the second one has a button as well, and I want to click on that button to unload that control from master page and reload the first user control.

But userID is null as it is not found in the master page. Could you suggest something to get the user ID?
Is there a good way to enable forms that come out of user content (CMS) that is displayed inside the form runat="server" tag? All sorts of services provide forms for users to paste into their website, which break if the content ends up inside a .net form. It seems to me that there must be a good way around this, but I can't seem to find any solutions.

I have implemented a custom ErrorController with NoAccess Action returning the View "~/Error/NoAccess" (not inside the Shared folder).
I have also modified the web.config file and add a custom error "<error statusCode="403" redirect="~/Error/NoAccess" />" node.
Each time i enter to an anauthorized page, i get redirected to the logon page (even though i am already logged on). I would to modify the default asp.net mvc authorization functionality and each time a user tries to enter a page that is not authorized to get an "NoAccess" page instead of redirecting to the login page.

I have looked everywhere for how to do this and all I come up with is threads describing how to expose public properties. I have a USER CONTROL in my Master page. It is a search box with a text box and a dropdown for search type (last name, account number, etc) and a search button. When the user clicks the search button, I open a new page that displays the results. How do I pass the values from the USER CONTROL search fields to the new page? I would post code, but I have nothing to post yet since I don't know where to start. I have tried exposing the public property of the user control, but I don't know how to retrieve those values on the results page.
