If I have a asp.net site for desktop, what should I do to enable smart phones ?By mistake I added a / to the URL and I noticed that the desktop web site was simple, no buttons, just URL links set to a side.

View 1 RepliesI'm new to developing mobile apps and have hit a brick wall. I use Web Services all the time so I know I have created it correctly and it works. The issue is that i cant seem to add it to my class or form in the Smart Device Project.
When I right click I get the option to add Web Reference, I then navigate to the url and add as I normally would. When I then try to access the service I cant seem to navigat to it from code and it is not available. I have also tried adding a Web Service directly by 'Add New Item, but this file type is not available in the list of installed templates.
I need a develop a smart dropdown list for an inhouse application
Let assume, i have a dropdownlist with the following values:
ABC
EDF
XYZ
A123
B456
Now when the user types A in the drpdownlist (we can type anything onthe dropdownlist, but we can superimpose a textbox on it), the dropdwn list should sort itself and show only ABC and A123.
I've been using an asp 3.0 widget for this purpose , but it been broken for a while and rather than get it back up, I'd love o get a native asp.net solution, can any one point me in the right direction pleaseI once wrote some asp.net code to do this, but the permissions on the server, which I found to be common every where prevented asp.net native picture upload, perhaps i got it wrong, well now I wanna fix itI need the code to work in a shared hosting IIS 7 environment. I use vb.net, but can usually convert c# to vb.net
View 1 RepliesI've built an online scheduling system for a local company so that they can have a calendar with the scheduled jobs for the day and so that the customers can check on the progress of the work being done for them. Allowing the customer to check for themselves would cut their phone call volume down to about 30% of what it is now leaving more time to complete jobs. Everything is fine but I'm concerned about instances when either the server has issues or the business' internet is down. I was considering making it a desktop application but then it wouldn't have the online abilities of allowing the customers to check on the job's progress.
So, basically, as it stands now, if there is problems with the internet connection, either at the business or at the host, the business loses their daily scheduler and if I make it a desktop app the customer has to call to check on the progress. Unless I can make the local database copy any transaction made on the desktop app to the database on the server. How would I go about doing something like that? Would this be a good reason to use a web service (something I've never done)?
i plan to create a WAP site with VS 2008 by New 1 normal web application project, ist doable?are the things i should take care about is:- make sure the header of html is xhtml?- no using session to pass info? is all the C# code like that call database will work like normal asp.net?

However, I do not get all those nice wizards - for example, right-clicking in the project area and selecting Add -> Controller or -> add View.There are several sites that describe enabling this by adding a ProjectTypeGuid in the project file, but web sites do not have a project file.Is there anyone out there who has gotten this working in a Web Site?

View 1 Replieshow to solve the AJAX POST problem on ASP NET MVC running on IIS7, basically when you use an Android 2.1 phone and load an ASP NET MVC website on IIS7, and you click on a input button that subsquently makes an AJAX call, you get on a high level, the error window shopwing Error: NETWORK_ERR: XMLHttpRequest Exception 101. I have generated a TempData variable containing some data, and when a RedirectToAction call is made to the controller, the TempData is null. am wondering if anyone has managed to solve this problem at all, and I have searched everywhere but no one seems to know the solution for it.

I can easily made the screen the same size as my mobile phone but on some devices you still have to zoom in to see it. Is this mainly on the device side that needs to be set? Is there any way to tell the device to show the page zoomed in?

However, I am brainstorming on possibility of an online application that will allow me to backup my data in nokia set 3110 such as my Address book in the application and restore it. This I want to achieve without connecting my phone to any PC. I am thinking on some way to achieve this by leveraging mobile phone line only. I beleive it may require my application to connect to mobile phone through mobile phone network. Currently my mobile phone line subscriber is offering Address Book backup/ restore service with some charge. I want to see if I can replicate similar features. View 7 RepliesI just downloaded AjaxControlToolkit and followed [URL] to install it. Then I tried to follow [URL] to learn how to use the toolkit. But no matter what I do I'm stuck at adding an Extender. I added a ScriptManager and a button to the page as instructed but when I click on the button, there is no smart tag ("Show Smart Tag" is disabled"). I thought it might be the button so I tried Calendar and all I get is the "Auto Format" smart tag.
