Open A .txt File Which Is Visible To User In ReadOnly Mode?

I have a .aspx page wherein on Button Click, I want to open a .txt file in ReadOnly Mode. Opened file will only be visible to user. User cannot edit the file and User cannot perform Save operation on it. have a WebForm with a Form View to insert new items in my database.These items that i will insert also are conected to other many-to-many relations that i also wanna add after my new item is inserted.For Example: With the classic Autors-Books data base (autors with many books each books with many autors), i want a FormView that for defoult enter to the InsertMode where you will add a new Autor with name, age, style, etc... I would like to find a way to raise an exception if the Session is written to when in readonly mode. When EnableSessionState is set to "ReadOnly", values can still be put in Session, but the next request they will not be there. This seems somewhat dangerous.
One option is to create a helper class which we alway use to access session. However, this still leaves room for a developer to inadvertently use session directly, and fall into the "readonly" trap. Is there a way to create a CustomSessionStateDataStore that sits on top of the existing session code? I could not see an obvious way, and you can't inherit from System.Web.SessionState.SessionStateStoreData directly.

One of the few fields that have their ReadOnly property equal to True then Edit and Update the value field is empty ReadOnly property is recorded.I also have a ReadOnly property and its value is not empty. (GridView to the SqlDataSource is connected)

there are 2 pages (SummaryGridviewPage.aspx and FormviewPage.aspx) there are insert, item and update templates in the FormviewPage 1st case - there is no problem to insert new record, select and update action in the FormviewPage
2nd case - However, there is problem when i select a record in GV and direct to FormviewPage for edit this code is added in Formviewpage to open the record at readonly mode, no problem

Now edit problem is solved but when go back to the 1st case (new record, and then edit) Now new record can be inserted, and then show it in readonly mode. but then try to go to edit mode, no record show i think BtnEdit_Click code is conflicted with the built-in "Edit" command Could anyone show me some info how formview retrieve specific record in a proper way?

I have some custom Code to handle the Insert And Edit Mode on the OnRowCommand="CheckTheData" property of the GridViewThe Grid Starts in the "Readonly" mode, click on the edit button and it goed into edit mode for that row My routine ends with:The update is done and the display refreshes, but in the edit mode. If I click the clancel button back to read only mode.How can I get the gridview to redisplay in the read Only mode after the update?

When the user clicks on "OPEN" button, It should open up that(.txt) file which is on the file server in ReadWrite Mode (like in notepad) without any Access Issues.
Or simply has to be openend as temporary READONLY .Txt File. So that the user can close after viewing it.

In our application, we allow user to upload documents which can be PDF, Doc, XLS, TXT. Uploaded documents will be saved on web server. We need to display link for each document user uploaded and when user click on that link, it should open relevant document. it is expected to have required software to open relevant documents.
To upload document, we use saveAs method of FileUpload control and it works absolutely fine.Now, how to view it?I believe, i need to copy/download file to local user machine and need to open it using Process.Start.For that i need to find user local temp directory. if i put path.GetTempPath(), it gives me web server directory and copy file there.

I have two folders in my asp.net web application in which I create new folders programmaticaly. The entire solution is under VSS source control. I was not able to manipulate these two folders programmably. For that, I gave {MACHINE}ASPNET user account full control over these two folders. Still, the "access denied to the path" error was coming. I saw that these entire folders were marked readonly. I tried to uncheck Readonly from explorer but not successfull, readonly check does not get removed. Also, if I copy files using method, the destinationn copied file becomes readonly. I have also tried File.SetAttributes (path,FileAttributes.Normal); but no success. How can I make the copied file not READONLY?

I have a template field in datagrid. The field shows in insert mode. I do not want to show it because it is a thumbnail to an attachment. The regular bound fields have a setting "Insert Visible" which could be set to false - that is supposed to hide them in insert mode. The template field has no such thing. I have even tried to put Insert Visible = False in to the source but to no avail.
My definition of the template field looks like this:

I have one GridView called GV_IssTypeDesc and one DetailsView called DV_IssueLog.
The scenario is that i only want GV_IssTypeDesc gridview to appear when DetailsView DV_IssueLog is in edit mode. How do i accomplish this?

I have a webpage that allows a user to download a specified file. When the file is ready to be fully downloaded (i.e I call the HttpResponse.End or HTTPRepone.Flush) the user is presented with a File Download dialogue.
Is there any way to determine what option the user has selected?
Have they Opened, Saved or Cancelled the File Download once the Flush or End has been sent?

When i try to open a csv file from my asp.net 3.5 app by clicking on the link provided, a file download dialog box appears.When i click on the open button from there , i get this eror

My computer's operating system is WIndows 7.I right click a solution file and choose open with notepad by accidently,then after i open my Visual studio 2008 in windows 7,all the solutions are displayed as notepad open mode,i want to change back to normal solution file open mode,How coul i do that?Actually for all the other files,if i right cliked,it will default as notepad,i can not remove this notepad mode.that is odd.
