Passing Data Source Value To ASPX Page
Apr 17, 2016
I am new to VB.net programming and working on a school assignment. I have 2 display pages: default.aspx and DisplayTaxReturn.aspx. On default.aspx I have a list view where it uses data source to get the tax payer ID's from the server and I also have a details view where it displays the records associated to the tax payer.
When I click the View button on default.aspx it takes me to DisplayTaxReturn.aspx where it should display the tax payer ID and it's records that were displayed in default.aspx using label text fields.
My question is, how do I pass the values of the selected tax payer ID (datasource1 on default.aspx) to the DisplayTaxReturn.aspx page?

I have a FileUpload control in the Source page. On the Upload button handler, I read the file into memory (after doing some validations) and since it's always going to be a TXT file, I create a string that I need to pass to the Destination page. I thought of using Cross Page postback and set the PostBackUrl property of the upload button. But it appears that the breakpoint in the Upload button handler is never hit. It directly goes to the Page_Load in the Destination page. If I can't use Cross Page postback and don't want to use Session or the database, how do I pass this string from Source page to the Destination page?

I need to force SSL when going to the final checkout page (for example from default.aspx to checkout.aspx).
I need to pass variables to this check out page and tried to use server.transfer(https://www.mydomain.com/checkout.aspx). I then use previous page .Fincontrol to read text box and label name to this check out page. If I only do the server.transfer("~/checkout.aspx") then my I can read all vakues of my controls from the passing default.aspx page.
But when I force https:// then I cannot read the control values from default.aspx page.
Please give me some tips on how to get control values to the https:// destination page or if you have another tips on how to do it the right way, please let me know.

I am trying to pass a value from one aspx page to another using test2.aspx?Tag=blah.
When I try to pass Request.QueryString["Tag"] to a webusercontrol on test2.aspx it tells me that Request.QueryString["Tag"] is null or empty.
I am doing this in the page load. Should I be doing it somewhere else ?

I have a gridview and I have an edit template for one control. I have a drop down box in this edit template so that you can select a value from it and then when you hit 'Update' the value from the drop down box is committed to the updated record. Unfortunately when I do hit the update button I get a fault that the "Status" field cannot be null.
Here is the code that picks the value from the drop down value and assigns it to the new values list:

I'm using the DetailView control to display employee details from a specfic company, but it seems when I try to create the query in the data source wizard I'm unable to select the variable for the WHERE clause, only the web pages control components.
The employees are selected through the company name which is entered at the beginning of the page and in turn is used to select the company id.

I'm creating a WebUserControl. I've designed the control to a specific height and width dropping various controls on it. My problem is, when I go to another either the source view or another aspx page altogether and then return to the WebUC, the UC has shrunk in size. If I click on the UC and start to drag to its original size, the size dimensions show up as I'm dragging it and then suddenly it automatically snaps to original size before I finish dragging. I'm really not sure I explained it that well but don't know what else to say.

I have this javascript
function myFunction(source) {
window.open(source, "Title", 'width=400, height=400');
}
and in c# code I call it by
HtmlPage.Window.Invoke("myFunction", source);
which opens up a aspx page and goes to its OnLoad function:
protected override void OnLoad(System.EventArgs e)
{
base.OnLoad(e);
how do I pass in parameters to the event args in the aspx page? or is that even possible? and how can I pass these parameters from my c# code to the javascript?

We have three options to view any .aspx page in a tab
Design
Source
Split
How can we view Design and Source in separate tabs for a any aspx page ?
Or if this is impossible!! can we use split option by Vertically splitting the Design and Source ? if later one is possible, I could stretch the view onto two monitors like here as suggested by Nick Craver.

I'm having an aspx page with 2 frames, one is the header and the the other one is content frame which i'm trying to load it dynamically. Everything is fine. Let me explain my scenario
On the header frame i'm having 5 link buttons and when a link button is clicked i'm passing a hardcoded Page URL to the frames containing page and then trying to load that page in the content frame.

Then checking frameURL querystring in default.aspx page load:

Is it possible to use cross-page postbacks (or a similar method, perhaps Server.Transfer) to post form data (say, Data-set A) to a page, which then allows the user to add some additional information (say, Data-set B) and then postback to the original page the complete set of data (A+B) which then flows through the normal event execution process, similar to as if all data A+B was submitted on the original page to itself in a normal postback?
I don't want the second page to have any type knowledge of the original page, it just needs to supply two additional feeds and send the data on. This way different pages and controls could use this method for gaining additional data.
For example:
Page 1 could have a form with various text inputs, and two hidden fields Hidden1 + Hidden2 which are empty.
When the form on page 1 is submitted the user is presented with page 2, they complete that page and then all the form data from page 1 is posted back to page 1 but with the hidden fields 1 + 2 complete. Page 1 then has all the information it needs to complete.
I'm thinking that perhaps page 2 just needs to use PreviousPage and take its post data, add to it and then post it back to page 1, but as if it came from Page 1 and not Page 2. But I'm not sure if this is possible and ASP.NET might read this as tampered data?

I'd like to pass data from one asp.net page to another. I've seen that using System.Web.Caching.Cache is a good way to accomplish this. I'm wondering if it's a good way to do it and also is there any cleanup or other things I need to keep in mind when you the Cache?
I'm not passing very much, at most two integers.

Basically I want to take the following:And make it match the styling of the rest of the application.I am creating a custom error page in my C# based project and I want it to be able to show the same information that is displayed in the ASP.NET default error page. From fiddling with reflector I can see that this is generated through HttpException.GetHtmlErrorMessage() but when I try to use this in my exception it returns null.

the page form has a hidden slide-in on click of a div, section allowing the user to 'make a reservation'. The jQuery used to animate the slide works fine, and happens on click on the ticky check-box (id="rescheck"). The problem is, instead of all the fields contained within the hidden div displaying on click of the checkbox, and thus sliding into view along with their labels, only one text field input shows, and nothing else. Checking the source code shows that these missing labels & fields are not even in the source code, dispite being in the page code when viewed (and edited) within MS Visual Studio 2008. As you can see, the fields and their labels seem to just disappear in the browser! I have NO idea whats causing this, and am not sure where to go with it next.
This is my PAGE code, from Visual Studio:
<fieldset id="resreq">
<legend>Make a Reservation?</legend>
<label for="rescheck" class="rescheck">If you would like to reserve a table at Madrasi check here:</label>
<input id="rescheck" type="checkbox" class="rescheck" runat="server" />
<div id="reservationfields">
<div id="res_when">
<div>
<asp:Label ID="lblDate" runat="server" AssociatedControlID="txtDate">On which date would you like us to reserve your table?</asp:Label>
<asp:TextBox ID="txtDate" runat="server" CssClass="res_date" />
</div>
<div>
<asp:Label ID="lblTime" runat="server">and for what time?</asp:Label>
<asp:TextBox ID="txtTime" runat="server" CssClass="res_time" />
</div>
</div><!-- close res_when -->
<div>
<asp:Label ID="lblBranch" runat="server">At which restaurant would you like to make your reservation?</asp:Label>
<asp:DropDownList ID="ddlBranch" runat="server">
<asp:ListItem Text="Select a Restaurant" Value="" />
<asp:ListItem Text="Restaurant 1" Value="Restaurant 1" />
<asp:ListItem Text="Restaurant 2" Value="Restaurant 2" />
</asp:DropDownList>
</div>
<div>
<asp:Label ID="lblPeople" runat="server" AssociatedControlID="txtPeople" Text="Number of Guests:" />
<asp:TextBox ID="txtPeople" runat="server" />
</div>
<div>
<asp:Label ID="lblDOB" runat="server" AssociatedControlID="txtDOB">Date of Birth:</asp:Label>
<asp:TextBox ID="txtDOB" runat="server" />
</div>
</div><!-- close reservation fields -->
</fieldset>
...and this is the Source Code when you 'view source' in the browser:
<fieldset id="resreq">
<legend>Make a Reservation?</legend>
<label for="rescheck" class="rescheck">If you would like to reserve a table at Madrasi check here:</label>
<input name="ctl00$cpcMain$rescheck" type="checkbox" id="ctl00_cpcMain_rescheck" class="rescheck" />
<div id="reservationfields">
<div id="res_when">
<div>
<input name="ctl00$cpcMain$txtDate" type="text" id="ctl00_cpcMain_txtDate" class="res_date" />
</div>
<div>
</div>
</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
<span id="ctl00_cpcMain_rvDOB" style="color:Red;visibility:hidden;">You have entered your Date of Birth incorrectly (dd/mm/yyyy).</span>
</div>
</div><!-- close reservation fields -->
</fieldset>

I recently started using SSRS 2010 and I didnt come across this issue in 2005 or 2008 versions of reporting services.
I have a report that drills down to child report1 and then that drills down to child report 2 but clicking a field in the report.
When I click on the link on the first report to go to the second report. I get this error message
"A data source instance has no tbeen supplied for the data source ''reprort2dataset"
I am not sure how to handle this error.
All reports run fine stand alone, but when I try to link them up I get that error.
I have a report viewer running the reports in an aspx page.
