This is having problems if the phone number is NULL or BLANK. Is there a way to fix it?
What are the condition to validate a phone number?
Well firstly it has to be a numerical value, can include the following numbers 0123456789 and the plus symbol. +
But what about the following conditions, where do you get this data?
-It has to be in the format [country dial code + area code + phone number]
-It has to be a min and max length
EDIT: also what is the min and max length of a mobile/cell phone number?
I want to create Regular Expression for phone number and valid digits allowed are (,),-,+,0----9. If the left bracket ( is there,then its necessay that right bracket is also there. How to create the Regular Expression for the above. I dont know how to create the regular Expression,
View 4 RepliesI want regex pattern for phone number as follow.
(111)-111-1111
area code should be entered in paranetheses is mandatory after area code there should be hypen and only three digit should be allowed to enter that is mandatory after 3 digit again hypen should be there that is mandatory and then 4 digit should be enter that is mandatory.
I need regular expression for splitting the phone number into two parts
for example: if I pass 1234567890 or 123-456-7890
I want to get a formatted phone number from database as 123-123-1234I tried this but this is not workingtxtphone1.Text = String.Format("###-###-####", dt9.Rows(0).Item("Address"))

View 3 RepliesI want a TextBox with a mask like (xxx) xxx-xxxx using a MaskedEditExtender. I tried to set up the mask property to "(999) 999-9999" or "(999) 999-9999" but nothing works. It there a way I can have the mask I want?
View 2 RepliesI have to make a login form using vb.net. The login form should either accept
Username ID or
Email ID or
Phone number
---- either of one ,and match it with the password of the corresponding record in the user table.
The user table has following column:- U_ID(varchar),mail(varchar),Phone(Number),Password(Varchar)
The form has two textfields - 1. Username
2.Password
And a submit button. If combination is correct I should be redirected to the Index page.
But I don't have to scan through all the columns of the user table to match the password.
(a)If the user enters user_id say- ID 10012 then we should be able to search only the record in the user_id column as it has alphanumeric or varchar data type and match with corresponding password.
(b)If the user enters Email id we should be able to search through the email id column as email id contains "@ and ." sign.
(c)If the user enters phone number then we should search only the phone column as it has numeric datatype.
I have been attempting to find a solution for my phone number formatting problem for 2 hours now and I am not getting any closer. My 10 digit phone number is stored as a varchar(14) without any formatting (just 10 digits).
Here is the code to format the phone number in a gridview:
[Code]....
why the formatting won't work? It just displays the 10 numbers with no formatting.
Is there any solution to retrieve phone no using this dll [URL] ....
View 1 RepliesWe're running a fairly large site, and a lot of our visitors have started using their Android based cellphones to visit the site. However when they try to login, we get an Event Validation error:
Invalid postback or callback argument. Event validation is enabled using in configuration or <%@ Page EnableEventValidation="true" %> in a page. For security purposes, this feature verifies that arguments to postback or callback events originate from the server control that originally rendered them. If the data is valid and expected, use the ClientScriptManager.RegisterForEventValidation method in order to register the postback or callback data for validation.
Does anyone know of a way to fix this, without disabling Event validation entirely ?
It isn't every single time they visit, but it is often enough that it's a problem.
Also we never get these on PC-based browsers (IE, FF, Chrome, Safari, Opera, etc.)
EDIT:
The page this happens on has no updatepanels, no custom __doPostback code, etc. It's pretty much vanilla with a simple LinkButton that causes the postback.
Also this error occurs on a bunch of other pages as well (Just found out about that now), so I doubt it's a lone design fault.
I am using one datalist control for uploading multiple images.I hv used one Asp:FileUplaod Control and one button in one itemtemplate.I am using reqired field validator and regular expression validator for file upload cntrl I am assigning validation group for both of them on ItemDataBound event of my datalist so that each upload cntrl hv same validaton group as required field and regular expression validator.Now what i want to do is - i want to show my error message in validation summary which is right at the top of the page.I want one know how to write javascript that will assign validation group of my control in datalist on which i click ?
View 1 RepliesHow can I disable the code behind validation when javascript validation is present? Then if there is no javascript enabled then the code behind validation will do its thing. What I notice is that it's reading the code behind valdiation not the javascript.

View 3 RepliesI wish to implement a fairly simple CSV checker in my C#/ASP.NET application - my project automatically generates CSV's from GridView's for users, but I want to be able to quickly run through each line and see if they have the same amount of commas, and throw an exception if any differences occur. So far I have this, which does work but there are some issues I'll describe soon:
int? CommaCount = null;
StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder();
StringWriter sw = new StringWriter(sb);
String Str = null;
//This loops through all the headerrow cells and writes them to the stringbuilder
for (int k = 0; k <= (grd.Columns.Count - 1); k++)
{
sw.Write(grd.HeaderRow.Cells[k].Text + ",");
}
sw.WriteLine(",");
//This loops through all the main rows and writes them to the stringbuilder
for (int i = 0; i <= grd.Rows.Count - 1; i++)
{
StringBuilder RowString = new StringBuilder();
for (int j = 0; j <= grd.Columns.Count - 1; j++)
{
//We'll need to strip meaningless junk such as <br /> and
Str = grd.Rows[i].Cells[j].Text.ToString().Replace("<br />", "");
if (Str == " ")
{
Str = "";
}
Str = """ + Str + """ + ",";
RowString.Append(Str);
sw.Write(Str);
}
sw.WriteLine();
//The below code block ensures that each row contains the same number of commas, which is crucial
int RowCommaCount = CheckChar(RowString.ToString(), ',');
if (CommaCount == null)
{
CommaCount = RowCommaCount;
}
else
{
if (CommaCount!= RowCommaCount)
{
throw new Exception("CSV generated is corrupt - line " + i + " has " + RowCommaCount + " commas when it should have " + CommaCount);
}
}
}
sw.Close();
And my CheckChar method:
protected static int CheckChar(string Input, char CharToCheck)
{
int Counter = 0;
foreach (char StringChar in Input)
{
if (StringChar == CharToCheck)
{
Counter++;
}
}
return Counter;
}
Now my problem is, if a cell in the grid contains a comma, my check char method will still count these as delimiters so will return an error. As you can see in the code, I wrap all the values in " characters to 'escape' them. How simple would it be to ignore commas in values in my method? I assume I'll need to rewrite the method quite a lot.
I am new to asp.net and I have a problem. When the users insert in a editor for a decimal field something other than numbers, they get an error "Field name" is not a number. But I don't want them to receive this message I want them to receive another message. I have no problem with this with required and range validators. Is there any way for me to do this?
I am not refering necessarily to changing the culture just displaying another message.
What is the validation expression for validating numbers with 2 decimal places (Only Zeros).
Each number must have two zeros as decimal places
valid numbers
0.00
23.00
34.00
234.00
Invalid numbers
1.01
1.0
23.06
0.09
I need regular expression for fax like
+(country code)-(area code)-(fax number)
for example: +1-212-9876543
and with error message,
if miss '-' then show 'missing '-'', if missing '+' then show 'missing '+''.
i have imported data from excel to datatable but i need to validate port no column which should
allow only numeric value and also i need to check the single quotes and need to replace to double quotes.
