Profile Service Is Not Available In Code In Page_Load Within Web Projects?

Profile that is used for ASP.NET Profile Service is not available in Page code behind files like in Page_Load.
It may be just a problem with Visual Studio installation/configuration, but as another problem, classes placed in App_Code in not seen in page codes. Even when I'm adding new ASP.NET folder to my project, "App_Code" is not available as an option.
I tested the entire scenario with ASP.NET Web Project and Empty ASP.NET Web Project. This problem does exists while creating ASP.NET Website.
Environment: Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate x64, ASP.NET 4.0, Windows Server 2008 R2 x64.
I am using profile services to store some attributes of users registered in the website. Now I am making a display profile page for a user. The problem is that the profile loads easily when I am running the site from VS 2010, but it gives the following error when I run it from IIS7 on my local machine:
System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
I just moved to a new PC and installed VS 2010. I copied all of my websites over from the old machine and now when I open the old websites on the new machine, they do not show up in my recent projects list on the start page. New websites that I make do show up there but the old ones do not. This is very inconvenient. Is there a way to make old projects that I open show up in the list?
This brings up another question. Is there a way to make a shortcut that will open VS2010 up with a website already loaded so that I don't have to go through the file open dialog every time?
I've seen some teams that start breaking into multiple projects from the beginning and others build behemoth single projects. The large project teams say that one massive project is easier to maintain than multiple smaller projects.
I need to do HTML code manipulation for every loaded page in my ASP.NET application. Where is the best place to put my method? Put code into every web page Page_Load event in not very smart, what other alternatives?
I need to create a sample project (for educational purposes) and I'm faced with the choice between Web Site Projects or Web Application Projects. This feels similar to the choice between C# and VB. My question isn't about the differences between these 2 choices, but rather which is more popular (relevant, recognizable) to the general ASP.NET community.Has anyone seen any statistics in terms of adoption/usage of these 2 different project types? I have a multi-tiered application. I would like to publish the class libraries to UI developers to let them add to their web or windows projects to add all the functionality.
I would like to restrict access so only a certain project can be referenced. The reason is so that they do not refer to the data access layer directly and start making calls that would bypass the business logic built into the business tier.
UI->>Business Logic->>Data Access
So in other words, BL and DA are deployed as compiled assemblies. BL references DA. UI will reference BL, but I would like to strictly prevent any other project from referencing DA directly.
I have a client asp.net website that uses ASP.Net Membership, Roles and Profile providers and Login controls. I need to expand the application so was going to use WCF Workflows, the ASP.Net website will be hosted on a different server than the WCF Services so what I want to do is get the ASP.Net Website to auth via the WCF Service. So process will go:
ASP.Net Website ------------------> WCF Service ------------------> SQL Database (Membership, Roles, Profile, Workflow Persistence Data and Business Data)
I tried creating a custom Membership and Role providers but I have had problems managing the users (Membershipuser class) saying null when a vaild user has been return by the WCF Service as can access the properies but not the methods.

I have a windows application that stores a file on the current user's isolated storage, lets call this user Adam. On the same machine I have a Web service (The Web Service's application pool is running with Adam's credentials) that uses the same dll to access the file on the isolated storage but it is trying to access a file on the Default User's profile instead of the real user's profile (in this case Adams Profile)
Why is it trying to look for the file on the Default User's profile Instead of Adam's Profile? How can i make it look for the file in the right profile?. I'm running it on Win 2003, C# and .Net framework 3.5
I'm having trouble accessing custom profile properties that I've declared in my web.config using the TableProfileProvider available at [URL] I set everything up according to the instructions but keep receiving an error stating "The type or namespace name 'Profile' could not be found" whenever I refer to the Profile object in my codebehind. My web.config is:

i have defined profile properties in my web config file but unable to access them in code behind. even profile object is not available. i have to writer fully qualified name like System.Web.Profile. below is my web config
I'm trying to throw the exception back to Page_Load but the throw statement causes error: ArgumentNullException was unhandled by user code. How can that be fixed? Also, I can't see Label1.Text displayed on the page after the ArgumentNullException occurs because the page is not re-load. If there is no exception, it's fine to not reload the page. How can I see the Label1.Text displayed?
On my test machine (Windows XP with IIS 5), I set up a virtual directory just for this ASP.NET 2.0 solution and everything works great. All my code is separated nicely and it just works.However, when we deployed this solution to our Windows Server 2003 development environment, we noticed that the code only compiled when all of the code was dropped directly into the .asmx file, meaning that the solution didn't work with code-behind. We can't figure out why this is happening.
One thing that's different about our setup in our development environment is that instead of creating a separate virual directory just for this solution, we dropped it into an existing directory that runs a classic ASP application. So here we have a folder with an ASP.NET 2.0 application within a directory that contains a classic ASP application. Granted, everything in the ASP.NET 2.0 application works if all of the code is within the .asmx file and not in code-behind, but we'd really like to know why it's not recognizing the code-behind files and compiling it correctly.
I'm trying to update/create the user profile for a specific user that will not be the logged on user of the moment. I'm able to do this with the following code:

I am logged in as user1, and while creating a user in which I have additional information which would store first and last name into the profile database. I have the following code

But because I just have profile like that, it is updating the profile of user1 not the new user i just created
Web service error response (code/message etc) would you store it in a database? or would you keep the error response in a method.By the time I'm done with this, there will be hundreds of error response, maybe in the future, thousands? (I dont know yet, depends how large this web service grows).EDIT: error response is the response returned back to the application via the web service, (not to be confused with error logging).
