I want to execute a piece of code. Currently it is written in Page_load().
Because of this my application becomes slow.

I have a Default.aspx program that contains a Treeview with a SiteMapDataSource. I also have a web.sitemap loaded up with urls. When I run the deafult app I get the tree layout that matches the numbers of options but no text on any of the options to click.

View 4 RepliesI have a Solution in which I have A WCF Service web site project which then hosts two separate WCF Service Libraries (each in their own project). One of the Web Services is a Client to the other. When I click the ClientService and select Add Service Reference, it all adds properly, but when I go to build it, I get this error in the reference.cs (the generated file).The type name 'HostWCFService' does not exist in the type 'ClientService.ClientService' C:Users...Reference.cs I don't want it to create a ClientService.HostWCFService namespace, I want to be able to use the HostWCFService as its own namespace. I believe I've had this setup working before at one point; that is, I had this arrangement working before, but am not sure now if the host service was in a sub namespace of the project.
View 1 RepliesI'm trying to throw the exception back to Page_Load but the throw statement causes error: ArgumentNullException was unhandled by user code. How can that be fixed? Also, I can't see Label1.Text displayed on the page after the ArgumentNullException occurs because the page is not re-load. If there is no exception, it's fine to not reload the page. How can I see the Label1.Text displayed?

View 5 RepliesI am using Visual Web Developer Express with VB.net and have a website with 2 pages in them called "Tables.aspx" and "Variables.aspx". On the Tables page the user is required to enter a variable name in to a texbox, which I want then to take the user to the Variables page and have the gridview display the sql result. In behind the search button on the "Tables.aspx" page I have the following code.

On the "Variables.aspx" page I had decided to use data readers which brought up only one of the columns however I realised using data readers would mean I would have to individually position each textbox which I am not sure how to do.

Profile that is used for ASP.NET Profile Service is not available in Page code behind files like in Page_Load.
It may be just a problem with Visual Studio installation/configuration, but as another problem, classes placed in App_Code in not seen in page codes. Even when I'm adding new ASP.NET folder to my project, "App_Code" is not available as an option.
I tested the entire scenario with ASP.NET Web Project and Empty ASP.NET Web Project. This problem does exists while creating ASP.NET Website.
Environment: Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate x64, ASP.NET 4.0, Windows Server 2008 R2 x64.

i am doing a webapplication where any asp.net control i am using is not available while i am writing code in code behind. e.g- i am using a DataList but i did not find DataList1 in the pop up to show my data in .cs page. i dont know what is the problem .

View 6 RepliesI'm trying to test the login control without writing any code. According to Murachs book, you can drag and drop the login control onto a Login.aspx form. Use the ASP Configuration Security tool to create user, roles, and access rules for the website. And you should then be prompted for authentication. I created two folders in my website, admin and users. The admin folder has a admin.aspx form and the users folder has a users.aspx form. I also edited the access rules to only allow admin to access the admin.aspx and only allow user to access the users.aspx form.

We are reading a saved jpg/png picture as byte array from a 'Image' field in sql server database and create a physical file in the server. Both the Aspx Page and Httphandler use the same code pasted below.

I want to be able to display information about each rate pulled, mainly: a description for the user, the rate or charge amount, hidden from the user I would like to save the estimated date of arrival and shipping method code.
Right now i'm using a RadioButtonList to display the data, but with a name/value pair I can only do so much (unless I wanted to really hack it up and make the value of each list item comma delimited or something like that to be able to store all that data). There can be multiple rates shown depending on the number of shipping options rates are being pulled from. Is my only other option to use a repeater or are there any other clean options?
I don't much care for the template rigmarole of the ASP.NET FormView web forms control. It seems the only way to access template defined controls is to 'capture' module level references to the wanted controls in the ItemCreated data binding event, for use in other tasks and event handlers. Ideally I would just like to be able to call set this.DataSource and call this.DataBind on a page, but only the latter is possible through inheritence, and doesn't achieve any of my normal data binding needs. What else is there besides the hairy, scary FormView control?
