Running A GWT Application (including Applets) Inside An IFRAME?
Feb 12, 2010
We are looking at integrating a full-blown GWT (Google Web Toolkit 2.0) application with an existing ASP.NET 3.5 application. My first gut reaction is that this is a horrible frankenstein idea. However, the customer has insisted that we use this application developed by a third-party.
I have almost NO CONTROL over the development of the GWT app.
My first thought is to actually attempt to embed this in an iFrame. Because GWT is running under Tomcat/Jakarta, it is hosted on a different server from the .NET app so the iFrame src will be to a URL on the other machine.
I need to utilize our own ASP.NET authorization scheme to restrict access to the embedded GWT application. The GWT app also uses embedded java applets, which don't seem to be working right now inside the iframe. The GWT app makes calls to a backend server (using GWT-RPC?).
I have a .NET app running inside a Peoplesoft web portal IFrame. What I need to do is get the URL of the portal (parent) that called my .NET app. So far I've tried to get the URL inside my c# code using Request.Url.AbsoluteUri but this is not working. I'm assuming I will have to do this in JavaScript, or is it possible to get the browser's URL inside my c# code?
This is a general ASP.NET question. I have an asp.net site that is hosted on domain A. The site works fine and uses a session when user login. I have a new empty site on domain B (different server). I tried to load the same site on domain B by calling it in an HTML IFrame site load and works but it seems that user con not login, after some experiments I think his is related to the session not working. Can I run the site on an IFrame? Sessions should work?
I want to implement it with ajax in the following way:
when user click out side of iframe dont postback page and change the src of iframe .I want to show the progress inside the progressupdatepanel
I mention it I dont want to run any postback just loading page inside the iframe with ajax by calling outside of iframe for example there is a button in the page and it is handled by update panel and it loads the content of other page inside the iframe.
I'm using and accordion Ajax control, and when one tab is clicked on, I want the iframe inside it to automatically refresh. I'm not sure how to do this.
I have an asp page that has an iFrame. In the onload event of the iFrame, the javascript code copies the content of the iframe to the div. The iFrame has src="test.aspx" and hence displays the content of the test.aspx inside the div.Test.aspx page contains and imageButton, which does not show up in the iFrame.I am getting the following issues:1. the image does not show up (cannot see test.gif)2. When i click on the imagebutton link, it tries to search for test.aspx in the directory where the asp page resides inside of the actuallocation/directory of the aspx page.
Im looking for a way to redirect to another page, when i click a link in the iframe. i dont want just the iframe to redirect, but the whole window.
is this possible?
preferably in javascript or in asp.net if possible
EDIT: When i try the answers i get redirected to the source of the iframe, not to the source of the site the iframe lies on... Ill show you the code
function redirect() { window.top.location.href = "./Nyheter.html"; }
As i dont want the code to be static, so that i can use it on many pages without changing the url, i want to do it this way, alt. get the url from db... but preferrably this way, Solution? Also, forgot to mention. The pages are not on the same domain, they are on different ones..
I have an iframe in .aspx page , in which i open an html page(local) and I want to postback my .aspx page when user click on an img( that is in html page ) and get that image id on server side.
There is one master page in my application. Left side it display menu and right side there is a Iframe where page will be displayed when user click on menu. so entire page will not be refreshed only Iframe will be refreshed.
Everything is working fine for me but I am facing problem when session expire, my loginUrl page display inside Iframe so user is able to see left menu.
I am thinkin that LoginPage should be display in main screen instead of Iframe.
i'm developing a web application using asp.net 3.5 sp1, my issue is , i need to upload multiple files asynchronously.
for that i used the ajax control toolkit "async file upload", where i can only upload single file and cannot track the filenames after uploading, so i go for the "file uploaded ajax"
[URL]
when i started including the cascading dropdown in that page("mainpage.aspx") , an error occured in the page, ie; when i click add files of the "file upload ajax", the "file upload" control some times doesnot show, so i created another page("testpage.aspx") and included the "file upload" control in that page and created an iframe in the "mainpage.aspx" and call the "testpage.aspx", now it is working fine, but i was not able to track the filename, can i access the control inside that iframe from the "mainpage.aspx" ?
If I create an ASP.NET Web Application project and then add an ASP.NET MVC 2 to it using the default routes defined like so
routes.MapRoute( "Default", // Route name "{controller}/{action}/{id}", // URL with parameters new { action = "Index", id = UrlParameter.Optional } );
The Session object is NULL when I try and access it in the action methods of the controllers. If I change my routes to this.
routes.MapRoute( "Default", // Route name "{controller}.aspx/{action}/{id}", // URL with parameters new { action = "Index", id = UrlParameter.Optional } );
Everything works just fine. For whatever reason having the .aspx extension allows for session to be used, but the later doesn't. I'm using .NET 3.5 for everything.
Is this possible? if so, what adjustements do i need to make in order to do this properly. I know i can run webforms and mvc views in seperate files, but i want to run the web server control output and events in/on the mvc view page, however, i keep getting this compiler error:
I am logged in as the administrator when I installed an application named pdflatex.exe on my server. This application works as a converter from LaTeX input file to Pdf file. I host an Asp.net MVC 3 application running under an Application Pool Identity with Load User Profile = True. The Asp.net MVC 3 code contains a code that executes pdflatex.exe using System.Diagnostic.Process instance as follows:
Process p = new Process(); p.EnableRaisingEvents = true; p.Exited += new EventHandler(p_Exited); p.StartInfo.Arguments = "-interaction=nonstopmode " + inputpath; p.StartInfo.WorkingDirectory = @"c:mydomain.comworking"; p.StartInfo.UseShellExecute = false; p.StartInfo.FileName = "pdflatex.exe"; p.Start(); p.WaitForExit();
From the scenario above, the web application runs under a restricted acount but it executes an external application under a default account that I don't know. Can an application running under a less privileged account start a process executing another application under an administrative account?
