SQL Reporting :: Filtering On Multiple Items Is Disabling Custom Drill Through Actions?
Dec 10, 2010I am using Excel 2007 to connect to a SQL Server 2008 Analysis Services database.

View 4 RepliesI have created a drill down report in SSRS which works fine in Visual studio but when deployed and viewed using a report viewer on an asp.net web page it acts funny. It load fine the first time but as soon as i expand any of the drill downs the width of the report suddenly becomes very! lengthy and the details data disappears.
View 2 RepliesI am using .rdlc report. On click of the toggle button report gets refreshed. I want to avoid the post back and focus of report should not go at the top.
View 2 RepliesWhen i click on the toggle button of the rdlc report it jumps up i.e the cursor positon is not maintained could
The same issue is faced when i search for a word uisng the find control in the report viewer
I've a requirement to know if drill down is expanded then what would be value and if it is collapsed then what would be value in SSRS 2005 reporting. So on the basis of this; i can show and hide data column in the matrix control.
I tried to use inscope() function but always getting - True.
I need something if drill down ------> + = Inscope(Grid) value, - = Inscope(Grid) value.
i would like to hide the % of toggle item when image is + then it sum up the % which is incorrect.
Hence i would like to hide the % column when toggle image is + otherwise show the % column value.
i tried something - IIF(TextBox.ToggleState,false,true) or iif(toggle state = 'Collapsed', Parameter A, Parameter B)) in visibility column with expression but it does not seems to work in SSRS 2005.
Is it possible to programmatically disable/enable say column field drill through capability of the matrix table report depending on the textbox.text of dropdownlist value but retaining drill through capability of row fields ?
View 1 RepliesCan you please point me to an example of how to implement drill down in RDLC?
I am in a situation where the first report appears perfectly, but when I click on a drill down link , i get an error A data source instance has not been supplied for the data source 'RecuirtmentDataSet_ProfileTracker'.
My setup project installs web site and executes some custom actions using a class library. That class library is copied to bin folder of the web site, and after that IIS tries to load it even though it isn't needed by the web site any how. How to prevent the class library from loading? Maybe it is possible to copy it to another directory instead of bin? Or maybe the web.config can be configured in such a way to prevent that class library from loading?
View 1 RepliesLike most web applications you have a method that gets called when you log in. There are a few things that may need to get done when logged in and over time this may increase. eg. logging, welcome emails, maintenance. Should events be used to do this or is there a better way?? I'm using C# and ASP.net MVC. Update This is already in its on Service Layer class. eg.
public void Login(User user)
{
SetAuthCookie(user);
LogLogin(user, true);
SendEmails();
}
report builder row filtering?
View 3 RepliesI want to develop a user control (by inheriting UserControl) which contains a button which when clicked does multiple actions. Those actions should be defined somewhere. So when I sue the control on page1.aspx the button does action X, when its used on page2.aspx and the button is clicked there, action Y is started and so on.
View 4 RepliesI am getting an exception that child actions are not allowed to perform redirect actions. Although I can understand that this might is true in most situations I do believe that the framework might allow this to pass when a Child Action is calling another child action like in this example:
I have this code in my CountryController (I compacted it a bit but the main concept remains that I have a controller with Child Actions only):
[Code]....
This exception is being thrown:
Server Error in '/' Application.
Child actions are not allowed to perform redirect actions. Description:An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.
Exception Details: System.InvalidOperationException: Child actions are not allowed to perform redirect actions.
quick question: I have a view on my HomeController which is used to create a new 'model'. This view posts to a different controller to keep things tidy. The problem I am having is when I enter invalid details into the form, the rules I specified never seem to make it back to the original view and thus my validation messages or summary never get populated. Is there a way around this because I am using a view model with two IEnumerable lists in it.
View 5 RepliesI am in a situation where i need to reserach on a reporting tool, Other than SSRS for a good interface, cool features like having parameters with AJAX like intellesence. Please advice on the toold that are available currently that could be available and worked with an MVC .net application.
the features i am looking for in a report are:
Ajax intellesence when i search the Student name...
interactive Sorting
Graphs, Pie, maps
Either or parameter passing into the report, with SSR we have to provde all the parameters or it wouldnt let us run the report
Dashboard reports......
I added a new report template from the Reporting section of the Installed Templates (rdlc extension). I have successfully created a connection and am rtrieving data into textboxes that I have placed on the report. My problem is that I want to do a Test in the Expression template, but I cannot seem to do 'if else' statements.Can anybody give an example of how to perform conditional processing for a textbox on an rdlc page. i.e. The expressino for just populating a textbox might be:
[Code]....
What I want to be able to do is something like
[Code]....
Coding for this control seem to take VB/VBA Style syntax.
I was looking for a GridView with Custom filtering, all I could find where the filtering is done like
ColumDate=Value user enters
What I need is the user can filter by any condition Eg >, < , =. Like etc the way we do it in queries.
Is this possible? Are any samples already available?
I have an SqlDataSource at the moment, which I want to be able to be filtered using 3 DropDownList's. Basically, each DropDownList contains values for a certain column on the table, so when they choose one of the values, the SqlDataSource only shows values with that value in the relevant column.
So my table is somewhat like this:
ID (primary key)
ManufacturerID
ItemTypeID
UnitTypeID
And the 3 DropDownList's contain the following:
Manufacturers (value = ManufacturerID)
ItemTypes (value = ItemTypeID)
UnitTypes (value = UnitTypeID)
My filter expression for the datasource is currently like this, but it doesn't seem to work unless all 3 boxes have a value selected, which is not ideal. Any ideas guys? My filterexpression is below:
ItemTypeID = {0} OR ManufacturerID = {1} OR UnitTypeID = {2} OR (ItemTypeID = {0} AND ManufacturerID = {1}) OR (ItemTypeID = {1} AND UnitTypeID = {2}) OR (ManufacturerID = {1} AND UnitTypeID = {2}) OR (ItemTypeID = {0} AND ManufacturerID = {1} AND UnitTypeID = {2})
In securing actions/controllers, do I have to create a custom filter or use MVC built-in filter?
To use the built-in attribute Authorize() on an action/controller or create a separate class that inherits the ActionFilterAttribute which has a method (OnActionExecuting) to override and do the authentication there?
Im looking for a flexible way of filtering a GridView from multiple DropDownLists and TextBoxes(from/to date). Filtering by the DDLS and txtboxes works fine separately, but I can't get them working good together.I have followed the Data Access tutorial and created a three-tier website(DAL - BLL - Pres). I have done it by creating a tableadapter with a multiple methods that receives parameters I want to filter on.The DropDownLists depend on each other, so you cannot filter on something that isnt there.How can I add textboxes make sure that only correct dates based on the DropDownLists can be chosen? Using a DropDownList and maybe get 100 dates is not that good.
View 1 RepliesI am trying to create a form in MVC C# that will allow a user to input a Last Name, First Name, Department, Year and click a Search button that will bring back a list of employees based off the inputted search criteria.My problem is allowing multiple search textbox criteria into one search button. I am able to hardcode values into an html actionlink like below and it works but unable to grab the values from the textboxes.
<%= Html.ActionLink("Results", "Results", new { lastName = "Smith",
firstName = "", dept = "", year = "2008" } )%>
I would really just like to have four textboxes and a search button to bring the list back from the database.
I use a RadComboBox And use the code exactly as same as mentioned at the site
http://demos.telerik.com/aspnet-ajax/combobox/examples/populatingwithdata/autocompletesql/defaultcs.aspx
I use the code for "Server side" on the page mentioned in the above link.
However i am able to populate the values the first time the page is loaded but when i type in text it does not refine .Am i missing out on something ?
I am writting a directory website that advertises fitness classes. These classes are listed by Class Type, and Geographical Area. Each Class Type can satisfy one or more of four Fitness Goals such as Loose Weight etc...
I have a table for Classes (classid, classname, classdesc, classtypeid, geoareaid) I have a table for geographic areas (geoareaid, geoarea) And I have a table for ClassTypes (classtypeid, classtypename, classtypedesc)
Which obviously links geographic area via the classes.geoareaid as a forgien key and classtypes by classes.classtypeid as a forgien key.
I can list all classes by type and also by geo area no problem, the problem arrises when I then also want to filter by goal.
The Goals Table (goalid, goal, goaldesc) is linked to the classtypes table via another table classtypes_goals (classtypeid, goalid) as each classtype can satisfy any of the 4 goals.
I am using a DataSet to fetch the data from a Stored Procedure in the SQL Database but because the classtypes can be linked to multiple goals I am getting duplication in my list depending on how many goals a classtype satisfies.
All I need in my data list is class name, class type and area I don't even need to display the goal I just want a drop down above the table that will filter the list and show only classes of classtype that satisfy the goal chosen.
cant find any post about filtering multiple strings in 1 column.
<asp:SqlDataSource ID="SqlDataSource8" runat="server"
ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:DatabaseConnectionString %>"
SelectCommand="SELECT [ID] FROM [Aaden] WHERE ([Choice] = @Choice) ">
<SelectParameters>
<asp:ControlParameter ControlID="DropDownListChoice" Name="Choice"
PropertyName="SelectedValue" Type="String" />
</SelectParameters>
</asp:SqlDataSource>
this is does search selected string.How can i search multiple strings in one column. for example my dropdownlistchoice.items ("a","b","a+b")
When i choose "a+b" in my drobdownlistchoice i like to display items "a" and "b" how to do it?
