SQL Reporting :: Using ReportViewer For Multiple Reports By Way Of Radio Buttons?

Jun 10, 2010

I am using one ReportViewer with already established SQL Stored Procedures connected to three report files (*.rdlc). There are three radio buttons which are to be associated with each report that needs to be displayed in the ReportViewer. Here is an example if a radio button is selected:

[Code]....

The ReportViewer works for the first radio button selection but then for the other selection I get the following error:

A data source instance has not been supplied for the data source 'spEx1'

SQL Reporting :: Make SSRS Reports Available Through ReportViewer

Dec 29, 2010

I have SSRS (discountasp.net) and I currently display reports on my web page using Reportviewer and use .net code to authenticate them (username/password). Recently I have bought VPS (Windows Server 2008 Web Edition + .net 4.0) and would like to use SSRS the same way as above. I have never done this before so need some guidance on that just to ensure the server is still "safe". Below are some questions that I think are related but feel free to add other comments that I didn't think about.

1) Set up new user? What permissions are required?
2) Configure SSRS to for external connections?
3) Firewall?

SQL Reporting :: Reportviewer 2005 Reports In Vwd 2010?

Aug 12, 2010

Due to a recent hard disk failure, my company issued me Windows 7 (in part for certification testing as we begin to roll it out to the general employee base at the end of the year). As a result, I'm using vwd 2010, where I had been using vwd 2005. The existing site used the reportviewer 2005, but I'm finding it difficult to find information about editing those files in vwd 2010. Can anyone point me to the appropriate place or have some insight as to what must happen in order to manage 2005 reportviewer reports in vwd 2010? I have downloaded and installed the reportviewer 2010 add in. The site is using framework 2.0 even though the web servers are using 3.5 (One of the things I need to do is upgrade the site to 3.5, but I have a support issue to work on first.)

SQL Reporting :: Use The ReportViewer To Display SSRS Reports?

Mar 26, 2010

Starting to look into an web app thet uses the ReportViewer to display SSRS reports. This is for SSRS 2008. What would be the best way to go about the follwoing: The reports are sales reports so only ceratin people will get to see certain reports.

1: If a user opens a report which they can see and that report has a subreport which they can't, will the subreport still be viewable?

2: If the webapp will be used by many different people internally and eventually by outside people, what is the best security startegy to use, just plain ServerReportCredentials passing, or something else?

SQL Reporting :: How To Use The ReportViewer To Display Reports In An Aspx Form

Aug 13, 2010

I am currently working on an applicaiton that will use the ReportViewer to display reports in an aspx form.

I have mostly done RDL files but was considering using RDLC this time. With over a dozen reports I will be using stored procedures or inline queries for the datasource.

The problem I am having is that if I use RDLC, I do not know how I can getting around having to do "IF" checks for assigning the proper datasource to the ReportViewer's LocalReport.DataSource.

With the RDL file I do not have that problem since it uses the Procedure created in the report.

Is there a way to dynamically choose the proper datasource for a class of different methods for different reports or is this simply a limitation in using RDLC over RDLS ?

It seems that the RDL development environment is easier from that standpoint.

Web Forms :: Process Radio Buttons As 'group' Allowing For Multiple Selections?

I would like to process them as a 'group' so I can do something like loop thru them, checking if each one has been selected to build a list and also be saving them to a table row, etc but it seems all the designations as a list or group make it mutually exclusive. just looking for better coding than checking them with an if statement or similar so the question is if there is some way to designate the radio buttons as a group but no force the group to be mutually exclusive

SQL Reporting :: Using ReportViewer.LocalReport.Render() Method To Export Single Report Multiple Times?

Oct 21, 2010

I'm using the ReportViewer control on my .aspx page which displays a single report based on various user parameter selections. Dropdown2 is dependent on the DropDown1 selection (i.e. the user selects Unit A from DropDown1 and that results in 10 selections under Dropdown2, or the user selects Unit B from DropDown1 and that results in 15 selections under DropDown2, and so on). The user makes the selections, clicks the "Run Report" button, and the report displays as expected. The user then can export to Excel or PDF

I've received a request to allow users to run the report for all possible selections and export to their desired format rather than having to run the report for each separate DropDown1 and DropDown2 selection. So in other words, they don't even want to see the report on the screen, they just want to be able to click a button that runs the report for all possible parameter selections and export it to a single Excel or PDF document.

Web Forms :: Clicking Radio Button In Web Control Causes All Other Web Control Radio Buttons To Fire Postback?

Feb 8, 2010

I have a web application that shows a page containing between 6 and 20 AJAX UpdatePanels, contained with Custom Web (.ascx) Controls.

You can see an example of such a page here:

[URL]

The problem I'm getting is that when the user FIRST clicks any of the radio-buttons on any of the controls in the page, ALL the radio buttons that have an active selection ALSO fire an rb_CheckChanged event (see application log below). On subsequent radio-button
clicks, only that RB fires the event (as expected).

This behaviour is having a dramatic impact on performance. The page loads quickly, and a "normal" RB click provides an AJAX update correctly within 1 second. The problematic first RB click, however, takes up to SIX seconds to process, which is unacceptable from a user experience standpoint.

Developed in VS.NET 2008, ASP.NET 3.5. Also I converted the "Web Site" solution to a "Web Application" (pre-compiled) and got the same performance (still too slow). Release builds run only marginally faster than debug builds.

Why would a single RB selection change cause all RB's that have a "selection" set on them to also fire? (The "selection" is determined through database settings every time the control is populated, which is called from within the parent page control's Page_Load function. This selection is determined also at first page load, since all the controls get populated then, so why would the clicking of an RB cause them all to fire an event, and only once? That's what I don't get...)

Not sure if this is an AJAX issue, or general ASP.NET UI issue, so I'm posting in two forums on this one.
