I'm have on my web page a text search box which I want users to type in there favourite football team and this will display a gridview of the teams with the replica shirts I offer.
This is where I thought about creating a stored procedure to carry out this task.
I looked online for ideas but I not found anything as yet.
I have a stored procedure which returns a table. The stored proc is called via a linq datacontext.
It works fine and I get the table back however I really want to also get the title relating to each particular cell returned.
The stored procedure call is like:
var table = DataContext.GetTable().ToList();
So I get a List<GetTable>. The data is fine I just want the column names as well.
I have heard that saving connection strings and stored procedure names in web.config file of our application is not safe. It is a good practice to store the connection string in a config file rather than as a hard coded string in our code and if we need to change it,then it makes our job easier. how to protect our code in web.config?

I have been using the GridView control, to display data, but now my two datasources (Informix, and VisualM/Mumps) makes it very difficult to create a store procedure to with paging. Is there a better data grid, that will allow my users to scroll/search the current data set?

I have created the tables and the stored procedures in SQL 2008.
In VS 2008, I created DataSet1.xsd in App_Code and created the connectionString in web.config file.
Then when I go into the DataSet1.xsd and try to add a TableAdapter, strange things happened.
First I chose the data connection, then selected "Use existing stored procedure", then there was nothing listed in the dropdownlists (in Select, Insert, Update, or Delete).
I'm sure the connectionString is correct because if I choose "Use SQL statement" and type in a "select * from mytable1", the TableAdapter can be created without any problem.

I am trying to create a stored procedure that filters data from sql server by date but i get this error:

My Question here:
I have written the above trigger,which would update the value for the corresponding records in another table ie) LeaveCumulative table. The trigger is not updating the value in the designated rows in the leavecumulative table. Whereas when I excute the same update command separately in the Query Editor window the trigger is working fine.

Note, in this instance, I am not using a DataAdapter. I'm going in blind. The connection string is being created on the fly, so I don't have access to the schema from the Visual Studio 2005 designer.
I was hoping for a solution similar, for example, to how you attach to a process on a remote server and when a break point is hit, the debugger fires.
