I am having a problem with the correct dateTime. Currently I have an application that pumps data into my Microsoft SQL 2005 database. But the dateTime that gets inserted is in the format of, 12 Oct 2010 21:30:24 GMT.How can i change this on the Sql Database on the backend to the correct format?

If you look at the nursery diary tab, will see an article, the first article is named "Test article for archives 1". Now the date should be 01 April 2010, but instead its showing as 04 Jan 2010.
I don't understand why. I have been looking at my insert statement and when i insert in the admin section i have a AJax date extender. And it populates the text box like so '01/04/2010'
But then when i check in my database i notice it has been added as '04/01/2010'.
What does this mean?

I have an application that uses a time date picker control to display a date from a sql (sql 2000) table. Casting from the table to the control works fine, but writing a selected date from the control back to the database does not, I was under the impression that a datatype 'date' in VB would be compatible with SQL datetime datatime, and obviously it is from sql to vb as the date is correctly displayed in the control reading from the table. How do I need to convert the value from the date time picker control to write into sql ?

This helps when we do a date comparison in a static class of ours to return a certain rating factor. Is there an equivalent way of us checking whether or not the date we pass into the stored procedure is in e.g. UK format and will be compared against our dates in the UK format too? We have 2 datetime columns, DateEffectiveFrom and DateEffectiveTo in our table and we use those dates to compare with the date passed in to return the relevant data.

Just looking for some strategies to modify the typical
mm/dd/yy 00:00:00 to simply
mm/dd/yy of a datetime item being returned in a dataset that is bound to the gridview
the item is within a dataset and I am simply doing the following
gridview.DataSource = GetDataSet();
gridview.DataBind();
So I don't have a ton of interaction with the dataset at the moment. I could brute force iterate through it and do something like
foreach(Table)
foreach(Row)
grab date Col, format and concat to look as desired
but this is very messy and was wondering if there is a more elegant solution.

I created a UserControl and added a public DateTime property. I want to set this property in Markup (ie. <cc1:MyControl runat="server" id="MyControl1" DateTimeProp="1/1/2010" /> ) however I live in a place with a dd/mm/yyyy date format so it complains if I set something like "20/1/2010". Is there a way to set markup in my local datetime format or do I have to conform to "mm/dd/yyyy"?

The Problem i having is that i am testing weather the date matches something and based on that it display "" else it should display the date based on the formotting but both are not working.
I have a DateTime Field in the database that only has the the date the time is all zeroes for each entry.
I have a gridview that displays the date only excep it edit mode. When the grid is in edit mode it also shows all the zeros for the the time. Is there way to not show the time in edit mode?

I am having an issue when trying to update a ModifiedDateColumn in the database via LINQ. I am setting the ModifiedDate property (which is a DateTime in both SQL Server and my code) using DateTime.Now. I am getting an error where LINQ is generating too many precisions when generating the SQL to execute. Here is what the LINQ is generating (see @p3 & @p5)

I have a weird thing happening. I have two identical databases installed on one virtual machine but under two different instances of SQLServer. For some reason, periodically when saving from one it will save to the other instead. Using debug, I have verified that the connection string is correct and when the item saves, it still saves to the wrong database.I use session variable, and am of the belief that it might have something to do with it...and t hat when I go from one to the other it is still getting the connection string form the other for some reason.To make sure that it isn't a problem, I make sure that I completely close out one database before opening the other in a new IE window.I assume that when I completely close out an internet explorer window that it abandons all session states. Is that true?
