I've tried to override error message when input incorrect data type in input field on HTML form.For example I have the model like this.
public class Person { public string FirstName {get;set;} public int Age {get;set;} }

I am making use of XSLT in showing a XML form. But in XSLT file along with the path of XML, I have a checkbox and a textbox input html control type. My question is how can I access these html control input value in the server page?
As I understand it, the <input type=email> element in HTML5 will render as a simple text field in browsers that do not support the tag. On other browsers it will render properly, like on the iPhone it will bring up the e-mail keyboard layout.
like to use this in a project but my input fields are <asp:TextBox> controls. How can I use the HTML5 element but still access its data server-side like the rest of my fields?
I am using the <input type="file" /> tag to upload a file to the server. How do I access the file at the server side and store it at the server? (The file is an image file)The client side code is :
I have a pricing module that I want to create to all a user to query for specific products and then check the ones that need to be adjusted by a determined percentage amount. I can generate the query and I get my checkboxes but how do I assign an ID or value to the checkbox item?
[Code]....
I had found a post that suggested using a variable for the ID, i.e. - id=chk<%variable%>, but it did not have much supporting information. I am very new to C #
What is Web services? What is Web services? How can I Transfer the data from server to client and client to server using XML. Need one simple Example program(C# web Application) ...
I'm using Wizard control to collect some information. I have Repeater control in my Wizard control. when client inputs information and clicks next button he gets to next WizardStep, thou from next step when client clicks previous button and navigates to previous step Repeater control's input fields are empty. How can I store client input so when he will navigate back he could see previously added information. I don't want to use any client or server side session management techniques, because I think viewstate is enough. I think my problem is I don't bind Repeater control in a right place, besides, all the controls inside my Repeater control are loading dynamically.
Okay, this may seem silly, but on an ASP.NET .ascx control, I'm trying to use:
<input type="button" runat="server" />
instead of:
<asp:Button runat="server" />
And it's not working for me. This code:
<asp:Button id="btnBuyCat" runat="server" Text="Buy Cat" ToolTip="Click to buy a cat" OnClick="btnBuyCat_Click" EnableViewState="false" />
renders the following HTML: (ignoring naming containers btw)
<input type="submit" id="btnBuyCat" name="btnBuyCat" value="Shopping Cart" title="Click to buy a cat" />
That's mostly fine, except I want input type="button" not input type="submit".
I tried this code:
<input type="button" id="btnBuyCat" name="btnBuyCat" runat="server" value="Buy Cat" title="Click to buy a cat" onclick="btnBuyCat_Click" enableviewstate="False" />
and get this HTML:
<input type="button" id="btnBuyCat" name="btnBuyCat"" value="Buy Cat" title="Click to buy a cat" onclick="btnBuyCat_Click" />
Unfortunately the rendered button does not work. Also, I even tried input type="submit" just to check, but unless I use the <asp:Button> I can't get it to work. I'm sure it has something to do with the JavaScript.
I have a jQueryUI dialog with some textboxes, plus a button. Right now, the asp:Button tag used to generate the button automatically sets its type as type="submit". The structure of the dialog is such that pressing enter at any of the textboxes should not call the button click event. It seems like the cleanest way to solve the problem, if it is doable, is to manually set the button's type to something other than submit. Is there a way to do this?
Edit: Forgot to mention this, but the button text is bound to a database item by <%# Eval() %>, which doesn't work without a server-side tag.
Because MVC2 generates input submit buttons, I would like to render my ActionLink instances as buttons. However I have not been able to find a simple means to implement this.How can I create an <input type="button" /> tag and have the onclick="" redirect to another Action? Or in other words, how do I code a button that behaves like an ActionLink?
I'm working on an ASP.NET web application for our corporate intranet users. I have a form where a user should provide a path to the file on the local network (something like "localServersomeFoldersomeFile.ext") without uploading the actual file. The issue is that users don't want to type the whole file path and want to use some kind of visual browse dialog.
The standard HTML <input type=file> element allows to browse for a file, but most of the browsers (except for IE) don't allow to access file's full path, so I think it should be done by some external component like Silverlight, Flash, Java applet etc. I tried to do it with Silverlight, but I'm getting a SecurityException when trying to access file's full path using Silverlight's OpenFileDialog class. This java applet [URL] seems to do something similar to what I'm looking for, but it's focused on uploading files - I only need to be able to get file's full path and pass it to the server as a string.
I'm using Data Annotations and Metadata attributes in my models to do automatic validations on my forms. Any who, I've got a problem where I have an int field I need to change the error when a letter is entered. Im guetting the default error: "The value 'A' is not valid for Número.". But since this is a spanish web, i need to change the error to something in spansih. Any who, I cant find where to change the ErrorMessage="" to what I need.
I am trying to streamline the look of my site and I was wondering if there was a way to use the onclick of an image to open up a <input type="file.../>? I want the input to be invisible so it doesn't add clutter to the interface. Here is ultimatly the flow I would ideally have... Image click -> Javascript calls input open. User clicks "open" in the dialog, Input calls some Javascript that calls the click event of the inviable "upload" button. Boom. User clicks image, selects a new one, and I have it automatically on my server without the need for two more buttons... Anyone know if these types of events/functions exists and if so what they are called and how to capture them? Or should I stop making this over complicated and use the method that I know works?
I have an ASP.NET Webform and inside the form I have an input type of file. What I would like to happen is for the form to post immediately after the user chooses a file.I have a server side function I would like to be called, let's say UploadedFile()What is the easiest way to accomplish this?
I need to get the name of the file the user selects from the input type file control and display it on to the page. The javascript onchange event does not work in ie 7 but works well in ie 8. The same is with the case in jquery change() function.
I want to create a function which would have two parameters
public **XYZ** GetOputput(string strToConvert, **ABC**)
What I want from this function, that I will send a string to this function and the datatype in which I want to convert this string [Ex: Int32,Int64, datetime etc..] and the return will be the same as the datatype I have sent as the input parameter.
I want to have something like this in my function:
Is there any way to assign styles(like width, position,top etc..) to Input type=file element alone.One way i can see, is using Jquery document.ready eventhandler,
$(function(){ var element = document.getElementById('<%=uploadinput.ClientID%>').lastChild.firstChild; element.style.width = '150px';
but the problem with that is, i am not able to identify input type = file element after postback in that document.ready eventhandler.please let me know if there is any other way to assign styles to input file element of AsyncFileUpload control with out any issues.
I have a input of type file and when i try to do a Request.files when the input is wrapped in an update panel...it always returns an empty httpfilecollection. Why???
This is the codebehind: (At HttpContext.Current.Request.Files...its always 0 for the count.)
I am retrieving list of projects and project IDs using autocompleteextender. Is it possible to restrict the user to type further if the input doesn't retrieve any value from database. Though, I have found a solution by calling function through OnClientPopulated. But this function calls back the webservice "GetCompletionList" method. I don't want to recall one method two times. is there any other way?
I m using a dropdownlist from sqldatasource based on input from listbox like this-
[Code]....
It works very much fine when i select listitem from listbox first time. But when i select listitem from listbox second time, my dropdownlist shows items for second input as well as first input.dropdown should not show items based on first input when i populate it second time.
I was using RangeValidator to validate user input on client side for double values.One of my user said that when he enters 5E-10, my range validator does not understand that number as a valid double.
I have situation where I need to authenticate a client across multiple web services. Basically each service needs to identify the client and know a few other small pieces of information about the client.
The way I have it working now is that the needed identifying information is stored in a session table in a database by the authenticating web server. The web server hands the client an string, which IDs the database entry and gets passed to the other web services. The web services then use this string to pull the needed information about the client from the database entry.
It has occurred to me that it might be possible to give the client an encrypted blob that contains the user ID and other needed information, which is rather small, and avoid using the database for this completely. The client would just pass around the blob (like the string in the previous paragraph) without needing to know what it contains, and only the web services would know how to decrypt it.
This should eliminate the need for the database to store the session information and would make the whole process a good bit simpler. With the database you have to worry about cleaning up old sessions and timeouts and so on.
So my question: is passing around sensitive data from service to service via client considered safe and acceptable? Is it possible to do this in a way that would eliminate worry about the client tampering with the data? What encryption algorithms would be good to use?
