SQL Server :: Desired Rows Not Returned Because Of Null Values
Sep 26, 2010
I have a property table and an image table.
I want this query to return all distinct properties and a thumbnail image. However some properties don't have thumbnail images and they don't get returned by the query. If the imgid is null I still want to return the property. Not sure of how to do this.

writing a web Service and one of its web method, I want it to download a png file in form
of buffer from remote server. And My consume application will write that buffer retured by Web service in to file on User's Computer.
However, I am able to do this using Local Web Service but when I published that service on my web server, I always get null retuned
And even in one of my test code while copying file from that server , I always get Access Denied.
Following things I have done for above issue.
1] I even tried making the Anonymous user for the web service the system administrator (with the correct password), to no avail.
2] I also tried sharing out the folder I'm pulling files from to allow access from Everyone.
[Previously same service was working fine on another remote server with IIS 7.0, we checked server IIS Settings but in vain.]
if you know where we are mistaken guide me to resolve this issue as its very urgent.

This is my UserRoleList.aspx.cs Code where i am passing the session variable to the page Default.aspx.cs..
And the error is: Failed to enable constraints. One or more rows contain values violating non-null, unique, or foreign-key constraints. I have gone through many pages , and tried by making the AllowDbNull property making True and then different things.

I am facing this error in binding of DropDownList in Grid.I am using TableAdapter inside DataSet.xsd (DLL).aspx.cs code to bind DropDownList inside Grid:
GridEditableItem item = e.Item as GridEditableItem;
DropDownList rlist = item.FindControl("ddlRelationship") as DropDownList;
rlist.DataTextField = "RName";
rlist.DataValueField = "RID";
rlist.DataSource = SDM.BU.GetAllRelationship();
rlist.DataBind();
[code]....
I am unable to understand why this error is coming. Whenever I click on Add New button of RadGrid, Add panel opens with this Logging Exception.

Using a class component, an Object data source and a formview I am successfully pulliing data from a SQL database. In some cases the rows contain one or more Null values and I would like them to be ignored completely. My simple code follows:-
<%# Eval("add_1") & ","%>
<%# Eval("Add_2") & ","%>
<%# Eval("Add_3") & ","%>
OUTPUT:-

I have stored procedure which selects records from an SQL table based on a bunch of user-input parameters.Just discovered that if a record in the table has null values in some of the columns (I haven't figured out which ones yet), then the SELECT is not returning the record (even if it satisfies all the parameters).The SELECT statement is supposed to allow for nulls, and I've been over it a bunch of times and am not sure what I'm doing wrong.Or do I need to get rid of all the null values in the SQL table, and prevent new ones from being introduced?

suppose I am having sample table like below.
I need to remove duplicate orderid's and i need all column names also while doing query.
note that rows are not in the order. Order will be like this only.
I am able to get the records which are duplicated but not able to delete further.
In this case how to delete?
My consideration is that only distinct orderid's should be there in the table. Not bothering about the which orderid row is being deleted.
name orderid destination
a 1 aaa
d 2 ddd
b 1 bbb
f 3 fff
e 2 eee
g 4 ggg
h 3 hhh
c 1 ccc

I'm developing a website using asp.net 2.0 . I have retrieved a record from database through the query.
SqlConnection con = new SqlConnection(connectionstring);
con.Open();
String SQL = "SELECT * FROM Table where attribute1 = value";
SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand(SQL, con);
SqlDataReader reader = cmd.ExecuteReader();
Sometimes, there is no record matching this query and so null value is retrieved. My question is how to find that the null value is returned. Since If (no record found i.e NULL) certain actions needs to be done and if (records found i.e NOT NULL) ceratin different actions needs to be carried out.

In our asp.net application, we use Membership.GetAllUsers() in order to allow the administrator work with the site's membership.
Is there a way to filter the rows returned by Membership.GetAllUsers() method? I'd like to be able to have a textbox where (part of) the user's first name / last name is entered and then call GetAllUsers() - or a different method - to get only the users whose name begins with value in the text box.

Trying to get the number of rows returned in a query in Visual Basic.The query returns 3 rows.Dim td As Integer = dataset1.Tables(0).Rows(0).ItemArray(0) has a value of 1.Dim tg As Integer = GridView1.DataSource.tables(0).rows.count has a value of 3.1. Why do aren't they both 3 ?2. Is there a best way of getting the number of rows ?3. Where can I find a tutorial or book that explains the notation above ?

I'm having a gridview in my aspx page with checkbox, User can select one or more than one record(s) at a time and clicks on delete button, Then i'm constructing an object of my DTO and adding all the checked row's Primary Key (DataKeyNames - GUID's in case) to a serializable class and generating an XML and sending it as parameter to the Stored Procedure.
My Doubt is, can i bulk delete all the rows from database table those are present in my XML document??
If it works, I can do bulk update with XML only, i already did bulk insertion by generating an XML..
My Another Question is, Will it affect the performance? Each time when i construct an DTO object and adding it to the Generic List??
WHich one is better, I mean ObjectDataSource or SQLDataSource or my XML method?
My XML will be like this
<root>
<Customer>
<CustomerID>GUID1</CustomerID>
<CustomerID>GUID2</CustomerID>
<CustomerID>GUID3</CustomerID>.....

I have executed my query in VB with:
[Code]....
I now want to count the number of returned rows so that I can say:IF rows_returned = 1 then login else deny
I think you get the idea.P.S. I know this is not the most secure method of login but I do not want to use the ASP.NET configuration manager as I like to understand what is happening. I am starting off very simple and I shall work up from there.

I have a procedure that is used to look up user permissions in our custom table, There is 1 record for each user and about 20 columns for each of the permissions.
How can i take the column values and place into an array?
All the column are bit type and 1 is int. Is it possible to take the values returned and add to an ArrayList?
And then once the values are in the array, how to loop thru it and go to certain index to check the value.
This is what i have now:

im working with a 3rd party on a project, we are going to pass them up to 3 values via a querystring and they are going to return 2 values that i need within a http response.
I found a few example here and just using google but they all varied of course due to the individual requirements in those examples..
what im looking for is a example that can get me started on how to send them the values during a button click on my page, wait for a response from them, then read the 2 values returned and continue with my button event which will involve passing the values to our stored procedure.
I found this link [URL] but not sure how i would call that within my page or if this would even work for what i need.
they should have the page ready sometime today so i can see how the data is being returned and so on.. figured i would see if i can get something setup so i can just plug in values when they are ready.
