SQL Server :: How To Pass Variable Into Query In ASPX
Oct 26, 2010
sales.aspx.vb
Custom function which stores the current DATE into todayDate. I use this function to convert system date into SQL friendly date.
sales.aspx
I used Data Grid and SQL Data source.
SelectCommand="select * from sales where aab = 110026"
I want my select statement should take the date from todayDate.
i.e.: SelectCommand="select * from sales where aab = todayDate"
How to write this statement in correct syntax.

I guess I'm missing something here, but I can't find a way to pass a simple variable from my code behind file to the .aspx page. In code behind I have:
Dim test As String = "test" and in my aspx page I try: <%=test %> that gives me the following error:
Error 2 'test' is not declared. It may be inaccessible due to its protection level

I have to build a screen that tracks despatched goods on trucks on a certain date. I have created a form (using C# and ASP.NET) where I am displaying the calendar and am allowing the user to select the date he wants to check for the despatched goods.
My question is how to store the date that was clicked by a user in a variable which I want to use it later in an SQL query.
Should I store the date as a session variable? Suppose I want to display the date that the user clicked, how do I display it?

This may be elementary user control stuff, but I can't get it to work.
How can I pass the Membership.GetUser.UserName variable (or any variable) through a user control parameter at load time?
[Code]....
The only thing that I was able to do was to create the User Control object in the code behind and then add it to the page. Although that works, it doesn't seem like the correct way to program.

I have a table with about 300 OrgID's that I would like to pass into this sproc as the @Org_ID, so I don't have to do them one at a time. How would I do that?
insert into tblRelClients (client_ID, clientRel_ID)
select c1.client_ID, c2.client_ID from tblclients c1 inner join tblclients c2 on c2.OrgID = c1.OrgID
where c1.OrgID = @Org_ID

I've defined a session variable in my Session_Start procedure
void Session_Start(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
<other stuff>
string sAdmin= bAdmin.ToString();
Session["SessionAdmin"] = sAdmin;
}
Then in my masterpage I want to use the Session Variable to conditionally show some links in a list.
How do I write the Boolean expression to correctly access the session variable SessionAdmin?
Here's what I have:
<div id="menu">
<ul>
<li><a href="/EmployeeTime.aspx">Employee Time</a></li>
<% if ( *** a Boolean expression involving Session variable "SessionAdmin" *** ) {%>
<li><a href="/Employee.aspx">Employees</a></li>
<li><a href="/ProductLine.aspx">Product Lines</a></li>
<li><a href="/Task.aspx">Tasks</a></li>
<li><a href="/Type.aspx">Work Types</a></li>
<li><a href="/Activity.aspx">Activities</a></li>
<%} %>>
</ul>
</div>
How do I correctly define my boolean expression? I've been looking, but haven't found the right syntax.

Consider this code:
Partial Public Class MyAspNETClass
Inherits System.Web.UI.Page
Protected Shared MyVariable As String
Is Myvariable a variable used local for each instance of the page ? Or that variable is "shared" for all users accessing my page? Is MyVariable saved in server memory, or is it saved on the viewstate of aspx page?

I would like to take your help for a small task of mine. I have dataset whose contents have been converted as xml, the contents of which needs to be sent to a stored procedure. How do i go about creating methods in the data layer and the stored procedure.What should be parameter type in the data layer's method and what should be the parameter type in the stored proc. I dont want to use a varchar at the stored proc level because it is limited to a length of only 8000 characters.

I have an ASP.NET VB website in which I am using the Membership functionality to authenticate users. I am doing this through the Login control on the HTML page. I have working that it will authenticate the user and then opens a welcome screen in which I have a button they can push to open a Reports.aspx page. On that page I have a dropdown box that is being populated from a datasource connection query to my SQL Server database table. It is a hard coded query but want it to query the table off the username text value that the user provided on the login (i.e. select <something> from inventory where username = <username>). I have not behind code but only HTML at this point. Here it is ...
<%@ Page Language="VB" AutoEventWireup="false" CodeFile="Login.aspx.vb" Inherits="Login" %>
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head runat="server">

Here is the Reports form that has the dropdown on it:
<%@ Page Language="VB" AutoEventWireup="false" CodeFile="Report.aspx.vb" Inherits="Report" %>

I am trying to use a variable from the code-behind page in a sqlDataSource WHERE statement. I am using Membership.GetUser().ProviderUserKey to obtain the UserId of the logged in user and I would like to only show record that have this UserId as a foreign key. How can I write the SQL for this?
Here is what I have so far:
SQL Query:
SelectCommand="SELECT [UserID], [CarID], [Make], [Model], [Year] FROM [Vehicle]"
Code-Behind
String user2 = ((Guid)Membership.GetUser().ProviderUserKey).ToString();
And I want to add WHERE UserID = user2 to the SQL Query.

I am attempting to do an insert query on a webpage for a simple member registration form I have created in vs2010. I have done this type of thing before without problem using an access database, but now I'm using a sqlexpress db created from within vs2010. This is the screenshot of my insert query:
Now, when I execute this query in the form, I get an error that says:
Must declare the scalar variable "@FirstName".Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.
Exception Details: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Must declare the scalar variable "@FirstName".
Source Error:
[Code]....
Source File: C:UsersCJ PerryDocumentsMy DropboxWebSitesCJ's Test WebsiteRegister.aspx Line: 51 Stack Trace:
[Code]....
Version Information: Microsoft .NET Framework Version:2.0.50727.4952; ASP.NET Version:2.0.50727.4955
At first I just had my query with all ?'s instead of @FirstName, etc in the insert statement itself, but I got an error on that as well but it was different, it just said syntax error near "?" or something to that effect. If I manually perform this query in the builder, and it pops up a window that asks for values on everything, I put something into each field and the insert works great. It just won't work with these parameters for some reason. Can someone advise what I need to do?

I have a problem with SELECT COUNT query in ASP.net. I want to create CMS with articles which have categories (which have the option to be deleted). The problem is that I want to get the number of articles within the specified category so if there aren't any articles with the specified category I can proceed with the category deletion.I have the following code:
[Code]....
After I click the button "Obriši" (Delete) I receive the following error: "Must declare the scalar variable "@KategorijaID"." I understand that the problem is with parameter, but I don't know how to correct it to use it for both the "command" and "brisanje" SQLCommands.
