Custom Server Controls :: Pass A Variable Through A Parameter?
Jan 26, 2010
This may be elementary user control stuff, but I can't get it to work.
How can I pass the Membership.GetUser.UserName variable (or any variable) through a user control parameter at load time?
[Code]....
The only thing that I was able to do was to create the User Control object in the code behind and then add it to the page. Although that works, it doesn't seem like the correct way to program.
I have a label "lbl1" that I am trying to locate in a content page from the Master page. I want to do it dynamically so I am trying to pass the name of the control (which in this case is lbl1) through as a parameter. I don't get an error, it just doesn't work. If I do an alert to see what the string "temp" looks like, it is correct, but iit seems as if Javascript ignores it. I believe it has something to do with the '<%= not being interpreted correctly by the browser I'm sure it is a simple solution, but I can't figure it out!
I have a gridview inside a user control bind to an object datasource. Now I want to bind the object datasource with a parameter from parent page. For this purpose I defined a public property in user control but how do I pass it with object datasource? I am calling from parent page like myusercontrol.parameter=querystring["id"]; How to bind object datasource with my parameter?
I have a page with some datasources in it. I am doing reenginering of the page itself and would like to split some parts of the page in several user controls. In my code I have an ObjectDataSource object with the following params
This piece of code automatically bind the hidden field "txtAlbumId" to the datasource. In my revision this datasource should be moved to a user control. What is the best way to handle a scenario like this?

I just like to know how to pass a parameter to the datasource of my dllItemCodeFooter and dllItemCodeEdit Drowndownlist which calls my getItemCodeList(decimal categoryID) method in the code behind. The value of the parameter will be seletectedValue of the first dropdownlist ddlCategoryFooter or ddlCategoryEdit).I know it could be done in code behind, but i prefer to bind my datasource in asp page. I want to achieve something like this DataSource='<%# getItemCodeList(ddlCategoryEdit.Seletected)%>'
I have a custom control that I have created. I want to be able to pass in a Javascript snippet for a callback function. I am able to do this by passing a string back. The problem is that in the Javascript, I need to reference another server control that is not related to my custom control. So, I need to be able to pass in the ClientID of that control for use in the Javascript. Here is a snippet of what I am trying to do:
[Code]....
Now, I realize that '<%= chkStartDate.ClientID %>' will not be parsed. But, I need it to be parsed so the OnClientOnChangeEvent property of my custom control can take any Javascript for use as a callback. In this instance, I need to pass in the ClientID of the control for the Javascript function to find the control to work with; and this seems to be the one issue that I don't know how to handle.
My custome ControllerFactory controllerName is passed an Action name and not the only Controller in my application. Where or how can I correct this so my Controller name, SearchMembers, is passed in and not the Action name of that method, Search.
I have a custom control which inherit from the Table class and in the constructor, it takes a an integer as an argument. There is no empty constructor.
Is there a way for the user to set that variable in the properties window after they drag the control onto a form.
I know some .NET controls, you can set the source for the parameter to different things like another control's property, QueryString using just the properties window.
Right now, I have to create the control dynamically. I read the query string and then created the object.
I tried both, loading the usercontrol when needed and I also tried adding it directly into the aspx.
Nothing worked. With the second one (what's meant to be the easiest option) I tried with delegates and events (but can't access de usercontrol event from page) and tried with properties (I can access properties but they're always empty)
I would like to convert some aspx code in user controls. This would lead me to having a master user control that contains other controls inside.
The contained user controls have datasource with some control parameters that takes the value from a control present in the aspx (now) and that will then moved in the container user control.
which is the best way to handle a scenario like this?
I have a stored proc. that returns the USL & LSL values for each of the 8 different Metrics. say, Defect Density (Upper Specification Limit) USL = 0.30 & Defect Density (Lower Specification Limit_ LSL = 0.05). Simillarly for 8 different Metrics. Why I need these Spec. Limits ?...Because I want o compare my project's Metrics Value displayed in the Grid View with the corresponding USL & LSL value of the same Metrics. IF Metrics Value is outside of USL & LSL Then I want to Mark the Metrics in Red Color.
1. STORED PROC "Get_Spec_Limits" Does Not Return Anything 2. Error : Object Reference Not set to an Instance of an Object, in the following "OnRowDataBound' Event

I tried to develop a dynamic pivot query with following code to avoid hard coding. I can got the 'Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4' dynamically and assigned to @(@quarter. But it cannot be passed to the pivot query.
I have a server control that performs some logic. I'd love to provide a default implementation of this logic in the code of the control, but allow a developer to pass an alternate implementation of this logic in as a delegate, if they wish.
sales.aspx.vb Custom function which stores the current DATE into todayDate. I use this function to convert system date into SQL friendly date. sales.aspx I used Data Grid and SQL Data source. SelectCommand="select * from sales where aab = 110026" I want my select statement should take the date from todayDate. i.e.: SelectCommand="select * from sales where aab = todayDate" How to write this statement in correct syntax.
Stored procedure ALTER proc [dbo].[spSearchCombo](@searchBy nvarchar(50),@searchKey nvarchar(50)) as select * from CD_DETAILS where @searchBy like '%' +@searchKey+ '%' I'm using ASP.net2.0 with c# to extract rows basedon search key from a text box and searchBy for the column to be searched. When i use column name instead of @searchBy which comes from value selected from a ddropdownlist i get the desired result . There seems to be a problem with format of @searchBy and i get a blank page.
I have a table with about 300 OrgID's that I would like to pass into this sproc as the @Org_ID, so I don't have to do them one at a time. How would I do that?
insert into tblRelClients (client_ID, clientRel_ID)
select c1.client_ID, c2.client_ID from tblclients c1 inner join tblclients c2 on c2.OrgID = c1.OrgID where c1.OrgID = @Org_ID
If I have the inventory class and want to make it to be xml and passed to web services and then web services will call stored procedure with xml as input parameters.
I have an ASP.NET VB website in which I am using the Membership functionality to authenticate users. I am doing this through the Login control on the HTML page. I have working that it will authenticate the user and then opens a welcome screen in which I have a button they can push to open a Reports.aspx page. On that page I have a dropdown box that is being populated from a datasource connection query to my SQL Server database table. It is a hard coded query but want it to query the table off the username text value that the user provided on the login (i.e. select <something> from inventory where username = <username>). I have not behind code but only HTML at this point. Here it is ...Â

I've done some SSIS package work in the past, but am by no means an expert.
I want to use an SSIS package to do the following:
1. Get the file name of the newest file in a windows folder (using a filename template like his: filename_ *.txt where the * part is always a date in the format of yyyy-mm-dd.
2. Use that file name in later portions of the SSIS package by reading the file and transferring data from it to a SQL table using a Data Flow task.
and use the result (which should be the name of the newest file) to open that file and pull data out of it and into a 2nd SQL table. I admit, I'm not sure how to use the dynamic result of this SELECT query as the file name in a flat file connection manager.
