SQL Server :: Schema - Change Dbo.aspnet_CheckSchemaVersion To Myusername.aspnet_CheckSchemaVersion
Oct 30, 2010
My hosting provider does not give me 'dbo' privilleges. When i restore my database to my hosting server, the tables and stored procedures come with my user name extension (eg: myusername.StoreProcedure1). So, I am planning to create all stored procedures under the same schema name in my local machine as well. I changed the schema name of all stored procedures and tables from dbo to myusername in my local machine. But when I run the website, I am getting the following error:- Could not find stored procedure 'dbo.aspnet_CheckSchemaVersion'.
I am NOT CALLING 'dbo.aspnet_CheckSchemaVersion' from my ASP.NET (C#) code. I am using membership class and login controls in my website. How can I make my code to call 'myuserename.aspnet_CheckSchemaVersion' instead of 'dbo.aspnet_CheckSchemaVersion'?

I have just uploaded my website to 1and1. I have a regsiter control using createuserwizard. But when i go to register it brings the error Could not find stored procedure 'dbo.aspnet_CheckSchemaVersion'. I am using my own sql database to store the data and not what is provided by default.
I'm using forms authentication and gettnig the following error: Server Error in '/' Application. Could not find stored procedure 'dbo.aspnet_CheckSchemaVersion'. I kept getting this using ASP.NET Administration Tool/Security tab: There is a problem with your selected data store. This can be caused by an invalid server name or credentials, or by insufficient permission. It can also be caused by the role manager feature not being enabled. Click the button below to be redirected to a page where you can choose a new data store. Could not find stored procedure 'dbo.aspnet_CheckSchemaVersion'.
Iam using Visual Studio 2010 ultimate. Iam trying to use a CreateUserWizard control, but iam getting this error below, eachtime i click the click user. I moved my website to the hosting control panel (ASP.NET files and SQL 2005 database). The hosting provider does not allow the SQL stored procedures with schema name 'dbo' (for example - the provider does not allow 'dbo.aspnet_CheckSchemaVersion'). So, all'dbo' schema became 'myusername' ie 'myusername.aspnet_CheckSchemaVersion' in theSQL database. Now, when I open my website, I am getting the following error -Could not find stored procedure 'dbo.aspnet_CheckSchemaVersion'.What change should I make in my ASP.NET (C#) to make the website to look for 'myusername.aspnet_CheckSchemaVersion', instead of 'dbo.aspnet_CheckSchemaVersion'?
if there is any easier way to synchronize the TypedDataSets with the chages made to backend Table / Stored Procedure schema. I use Typed DataSets in my project extensively and I found them very useful and easier to code, but difficult to maintain
The difficuly I have always faced is whenever there is a change in a backend database table structure or stored procedure that is linked to any of the Typed DataSet in our project requires to recreate whole DataSet again by scrapping the old one. The backend changes will not be reflected unless and untill you recreate the whole stuff again.
Is there any easier way to synchronize those typed datasets with the changes made to backend database schema or any other workaround that will not required to recreate the whole DataSet again.
When I created table on the shared SQL server on hosting server using management studio, I right click mouse on the table, it pops up create table. However, the table schema is my user name but not dbo. I wnat to create table with dbo schema.
I have a SQL Server 2008 DB with many tables filled with data and I used SQL Server Management Studio to generate a SQL dump by using the Script Wizard : Tasks -> Generate Scripts -> Script All objects in the selected database and also selecting the option to Script Data. I made sure to change the value of "Script for Server Version" to "SQL Server 2008". Then I created a new DB and ran the SQL dump on the new DB to generate an identical copy of the old DB. Then I assigned permissions to my default user to the new DB. Then I changed the connection string on my ASP.NET application to use the new DB. But when I run it, it throws the following exception -

I am making a db schema for facebook like wall structure. I need to save wall posts, share a link, share a video stuff into my database. Till now I am able to make this schema : GO CREATE TABLE [Wall] ( [ID] [int] NOT NULL IDENTITY(1, 1) , [PostText] [nvarchar](MAX) [PostedByUserID] [int] NULL , [PostedOnUserID] [int] NULL , [DateCreated] [datetime] NULL ) GO
Next I have to add the schema for adding the "share a link" and "share a video" feature.
1st case: When the wall post is inserted the [SharedLink], [SharedLinkTitle],[SharedLinkDesc], [SharedLinkImageSrc] columns will be inserted as null and rest of the columns will have the values.
2nd case: When the "link shared" is inserted the "[WallText]" column will be inserted as null and rest of the columns will have the values.
For my case 70% of the time the wall post will be made and 30 % "links" will be shared which means 70 % of the cases [SharedLink], [SharedLinkTitle],[SharedLinkDesc], [SharedLinkImageSrc] will be inserted as null. Now my concern is that is it okay to keep the null columns inserted or I should go for a separate table for "shared a link" purpose and have the separated table like this:
i am having a database in mysql and i want to use that database schema in my project using sql server. i have a Nhibernate c#do code generated by mysql. how can i use that code.
I am trying to figure out if it's possible to resolve schemas for tables within a Stored Procedure. If not, I was wondering if maybe I can find a better solution here. Here is my scenario.
I have an application that will access a SQL database that will be used by different organizations within my company. The database will only a have a few tables but it has many stored procedures that will call them. The different organizations will each have their own SQL User and schema with the tables duplicated for each schema. While each schema will have its own set of tables to separate data between the organizations, I do not want to make a copy of each stored procedure since the logic will be the same. I would like the schema to be resolved by the user that is accessing the database. If I do inline SQL within the application it resolves with no problem but using a Stored Procedure will always run it under the owner of the sp, causing it to throw an invalid table name error.
Is there anyway to resolve this or is this just the functionality of MS SQL? Are there any workarounds out there (other than Dynamic SQL) that I can use?
We have a huge ASP.NET web application which needs to be deployed to LIVE with zero or nearly zero downtime. Let me point out that I've read the following question/answers but unfortunately it doesn't solve our problems as our architecture is a little bit more complicated.
Let's say that currently we have two IIS servers responding to requests and both are connected to the same MSSQL server. The solution seems like a piece of cake but it isn't because of the major schema changes we have to apply from time to time. Because of it's huge size, a simple database backup takes around 8 minutes which has become unacceptable, but it is a must before every new deploy for security reasons.
Currently the best idea we came up is buying another SQL server which would be set up as a replica of the original DB. From the load balancer we would route all new traffic to one of the two IIS webservers. When the second webserver is free of running sessions then we can make deploy the new code. Now comes the hard part. At this point we would go offline with the website, take down the replication between the two SQL servers so we directly have a snapshot of the database in a hopefully consistent state (saves us 7.5 of the 8 minutes). Finally we would update the database schema on the main SQL server, and route all traffic via the updated webserver while we are upgrading the second webserver to the new version.
also share your thoughts regarding this solution. Can we somehow manage to eliminate the need for going offline with the website? How do bluechip companies with mammuth web applications do deployment?
Edit 1 (2010.01.12):
Another requirement is to eliminate manual intervention, so in fact we are looking for a way which can be applied in an automated way.
Let me just remind you the requirement list:
1. Backup of database 2a. Deploy of website 2b. Update of database schema 3. Change to updated website 4 (optional): easy way of reverting to the old website if something goes very wrong.
what should be the database schema for online account opening form with joint account holders and every participants (in a joint account) have seperate contact and personal detials.
I was so happy today when I checked a site that gets a lot of user submitted content and realized that I had been able to grab my database from my US hosting company, send it overseas, and get it restored without any new UGC to copy over. Then I realized that all of my queries were broken and after some trouble shooting I realized that all of my tables that were not part of the (dbo) schema were renamed in server explorer to include the name (defautschema) which would require the renaming of my queries to specify defaultschema.tablename on all non (dbo) schema tables.
The first thing I tried to do was right click on the names of the tables and select rename to delete them right there in Server Exporer, but no such option exists. Then I followed the directions for renaming tables, but the table names in the table definition do not include the schema names. I also tried deleting the schema, but got an error message saying that I have to have a schema.
Is there any way for me to change the names of the tables so that I don't have to add "schemaname." to every single column name in ever query that I have ever written?
I think the question speaks for itself, but I'm sick of scrolling through my procedure list filled with 50 aspnet procedures.
Is there a way to hide the dbo schema, or these procedures from the list?
Is there a different/equivalent tool that would let me do this?
With TOAD, I could open each schema independently - that'd be wonderful!
My only other option is to connect our membership provider to a different database instead of the same as everything else. All in all this isn't a huge deal, but I figured I'd ask instead of being silently frustrated any longer.
I am trying to create a Forms Authenticated site and have already used the aspnet_regsql tool to create the necessary logic in my SQL Server DB to hold my data. Now, I am looking to create a custom Membership, User and Role provider for my DB model. I was looking at the following video: [URL]
Now, I get the concept on how to go about it but I notice that this guy uses custom DB Procedures as to the ones that are generated by the aspnet_regsql tool. Can anyone direct me on where I can find info on how to go about building the Membership, User and Role provider class using the DB structure that aspnet_regsql generates? So much junk on google that I am having a hard time finding good guidance.
I'm used to MySQL and PHPMyAdmin - I had to switch over to MSSQL for an ASP.net project, and I'm having tons of trouble. I'm using the express version of SQL 2008, with SQL Server Management Studio. The following are 2 questions I've been struggling with for a while:
1) How do I export the DB schema for the database? The table structure, etc.?
2) How do I export all the data in the database?
Ideally I'd like to have a .sql file that can be run wherever I need the schema or data duplicated, for example a co-worker's computer for a shared project, or online when the project is being hosted.
I copied the CSS 2.1 xml file and updated it with CSS 3.0 from this cheat sheet [URL] so I could have intellisense for CSS 3.0 Problem: I saved the file as css30 in the
C:Program FilesMicrosoft Visual Studio 10.0Common7Packagesvwd C:Program FilesMicrosoft Visual Studio 10.0Common7Packages1033schemasCSS
directories however in the build section it has no option for the file, and I cannot find out where to add it. Where can I add this option in the CSS schema dropdown? I will post the file as soon as I get it working. I am also working on HTML 5.0
