Just looking through database design and wondering what would be the better option. I have customers, who all have orders, pickings, deliveries and invoices. Now an invoice can't exist without a delivery, a delivery can't exist without a picking and a picking can't exist without an order. So I could set the tables up in a linear fashion. e.g.
then in Orders, there would be an ID field, with a customerID field and in Picking, there would be an ID field, with an orderID field and in Delivery, there would be an ID field, with pickingID and in Invoice, there would be an deliveryID field. Linking them altogether, again, in a 'linear' fashion.
The problem is if I want to get, say, all the invoices for a specific customer, my query would be something like
[Code]....
My other option would be to have in a customerID column in each of the tables meaning a much easier query
I am trying to create a custom profile provider using multiple sql tables.1. I currently have 3 groups in my profiles (Customer, Employee, Applicant)2. Each group has separate tables for data. Do I need to write one (profile provider) for each group3. As new users are created, do I use the profile provider to store the info, or can I just write the info to the tables, then use the profile select to read and use?4. Anyone have any articles, and tutorials on creating a Custom Profile Provider using Tables that shows how to insert and update into each table?
Now i have a database table holds all info of my (customers) such as first last names and address phone number etc ... and i able to edit delete update their info from my side using the admin page that contians gridview i created. If several customers logged into their account pages, and each one wants to update his information,
How can i let the specific customer info be showin on his page for each customer? (I have one databse table and it contains a primery key column called "MemberID") how can i make the new subscribed user get his info that he did input or i would like to add to it, showin on his account page?
I am using bulk insert concept to export the data from dat file to tables(Two tables). I am using the temporary table for to do the calculation and insertion to two tables. My problem is whenever I selecting the temp table data after the execution of bulk insertion , the order is changing .I need to get the order as it is in file order(csv, dat, txt).
I'm not really sure where to start with this and therefore can't pick a more specific area to post. At first I though this might be something I would do in IIS7 but on reflection i think it needs to be at the application level. I am developing an application which will as part of it's function provide a unique website (custom CMS) to my customers. Each person who registers will have their own site accessible via a url such as [URL]. I need someway to take this and work out which customer it is and then load the rest of the pages with their content. So the site may have a home, about us and news pages for example and be themed to the customers requirements. Each of the pages will be the same aspx file and application for all customers but the content and style will be loaded from the database at runtime. I'd like for the duration of the visit for everything to appear as if from this subdirectory without actually creating them for each customer. so thy could visit [URL] but it actually loads [URL] and loads the content based on the customer site the visit is viewing.
I'm not really sure how to approach this. Maybe using a session value to store the customerid for the site the person is viewing which could be calculated from the URL on the first visit. I presume other people have done something simialr in the past. Where it gets more complex is if I then want to offer customers to have there own domain name pointed to the site. In that scenario they would have say [URL] which points to my server and bound to my application [URL]. All pages would have look as though they were on the customer website such as [URL] but still point to [URL] in the background and also somehow link to the customerid in the database to load the correct content.
so a given Customer can have many orders in this table however I only want to return the last order (using OrderDate) for each customer. how do you do this? I assume that I need to group by customerID and then use max on the OrderDate but not sure of the exact syntax.
I have developed a desktop program for a customer.I have used SQL Server on my ofiice while i am developing. Now its time to install the program my customer's office,Which SQL edition i should use? (At least)Only usage for them about SQL is: Backup and storing datas.
next week i'll have to install the ASP.NET Website on a customer server on site. All server side requirements for hosting a ASP.NET website are met.
So how do i now create a installation / setup for the website to make sure that everything runs fine? I think it's important to mention, that i'm using 3rd party compos (DevExpress).
For example where i have to install (path) the site?
I am currently building a webshop for my own where I want to increment the product-stock when the user fails to complete payment within 10 minutes after the customer placed the order. I want to gather information from this thread to make a design decision. I am using SQL Server 2008 and ASP.NET 3.5. Should I use a SQL Server Job who intervals check the orders which are not payed yet or are there better solutions to do this.
comes with another calculation query. In this one I like to get the total amount for the customer in the OrderDetail table. I can't figure out how to do it. And I only want to receive one row. With this SP I get all rows in the orderDetail table.
I'm using ASP.net membership system with SQL Server 2000 database. What I want to do is create a view (or stored proc if that's better) which will return a table with the following columns:
UserName | Role1 | Role2 | Role3 | .... | Role*N*
Where the columns (besides Username) are generated to include all the ASP.net Roles in the application.I need this to be generic (i.e. when I add a new Role, I want the procedure/view to compensate and list that new Role as a new column). I want the values in the Role fields to be 1 (True) or 0 (false) if a user in in that role. I can make a table that has such columns using Dynamic SQL to create the variable number of columns, but I cannot seem to populate them.
How can I accomplish this?Tables involved are shown below:
CREATE TABLE [dbo].[aspnet_Users]( [ApplicationId] [uniqueidentifier] NOT NULL, [UserId] [uniqueidentifier] NOT NULL, [code]....
I'm using Visual Studio 2008 with SQL Server Express databases in my .net 3.5 website
I have three tables I'd like to make entries to when the user completes a wizrd i've setup on a web form.
The First Step - The user enters basic information about their "Case". The table looks like so:
db_Cases - CaseId PK auto int, CustomerId, etc fields
The Second Step - The user enters information about the "Debtors" that are related to this "Case". Think of this as being products....The only difference is these records wont be used over and over again like a product would. The user may need to enter data about several "Debtors", just like if you needed to show several different products on an invoice. For example the user may need to enter information about a husband and wife. This means two entries in the "Debtors" table. The table looks like so:
db_Debtors - DebtorId PK auto int, etc fields
The Third Step - Here's my problem. This step needs to make entries into a third table called "CaseDetails". Again, this is just like if you were creating an invoice with several different products on it, where you would want to get a subtotal of each product's cost. The table looks like so:
db_CaseDetails - CaseDeatailId PK auto int, CaseId int, DebtorId, int
* When this table is later viewed, It will reflect all "Debtors" attached to the specific "Case" being viewed.
The first two steps aren't a problem, I pretty well have that handled in the wizard. BUT How do I create the entries in the "CaseDetails" table when the user finishes?
My idea right now is..... Considering the "Debtors" will be re-used but only on rare occations, I'm thinking I should just add the "CaseId" that was created in step one, to the "Debtors" table at the same time the "Debtor" is created. So the table would look like so.
how to connect the two tables of the sql server 2008 databse in C#.
in this there are two tables
1) Tour header(id, name, city, destination)
2) Tour Detail(id, tour id, day no, title, description, images)in this id of tour header and tour id of tour header will be same.now i want to retrieve the data on the basis of when id==tour id.how can we can run the query of two tables.
I need to have a server log that will help to determine the number of items entered into the db and where those items are entered, without having query each table. It should be able to give me the average monthly volume of items input in SQL.
Can this be done using Sql Triggers or any other alternative?
I have to make sure that if I use trigger as the alternative I should have only one table to be updated with all the details of the Updates/Inserts being inserted into the Trigger table after the insertion into the original table.
Below given are some of the create table statements that I have for which I need to have a server log of the updates & inserts.
I have created an ASP web program on one server, when I move over to another server, all of the tables turn into lists, which is causing some problems. Below is my code on the original server
Basically I need to know how to prevent my code from changing my tables to lists, as you can see has happened above when i copied directory over to new server.
using sql server 2005 and vb.net 2005. I am writing a console application to import a mass amount of data from a non-sql database table into a sql server database table. The destination db table (sql server) has fewer tables than the source db table so I need to map the columns. does anyone have an example of how to do this?
