Is it possible to draw data from the database and put it straight into a label?
I just want to extract the id field from a table and display it in a label. I will only be drawing out the latest record using the SQL statement
SELECT TOP 1 id FROM testtable ORDER BY id DESC

I have 2 server controls. A control that we can call 'SwapImageControl' where the user can change images via AJAX and a 'DoctorNameControl' where a user can change the dr. name via AJAX...
The 'SwapImageControl' has a image control in it that will span over the entire table row... I am wanting to place the 'Doctor Name Control' over the 'SwapImageControl' so the user can still see the DoctorNameControl label. I tried using opacity on the Dr. Control in css but it looks terrible...

I am trying to implement search in our various ASP.NET websites that are all located on a particular web server that we control. The server is running IIS7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 32bit. I do NOT want to go third-party by using Google/Bing/etc APIs. I want to have an in-house solution for JUST our website directories (and not worry about searching through other documents elsewhere).
I have looked at Search Server 2010 Express, but that won't work because it is 1) 64bit, and 2) too much overhead for the tiny bit of websites we are wanting to search on. There is a 2008 Express edition that is x86 compatible, but I still think its way too much to install and run for what we are wanting to use it for.

I have inherited a stored procedure that is taking a very long time to run. I need to optimise this as it feeds a web service and a wait time of over half an hour is somewhat not good.
[Code]....
I have not includes all 1000 sub-accounts just to save a little space here.
The constraints on the table variables are my doing as I was seeing if applying such primary keys / indexes would help matters, but they haven't so far.

i'm trying to retrieve the data from database using ssis package.. database name is employee which contains 48 tables and it is around 20GB of memory.. it is a production database..
now what i want is to retrieve the data for each four hours.. i.e i want to execute the package for every 4 hrs..
now what i did is i have taken a database transfer task and from the source i.e production database i want to transfer to my database which works fine..
but what is the problem here is for every 4 hrs whole DB is replaced in my system
i've given overwrite TRUE..
Here user enter the data into database for every 4 hour is minimum 10 MB of data.. instead for replacing the whole database for every 4 hrs is there any solution that what user enter data into database only that much amount of data should be append into my system..

The website is over half way done and the functionality for the blog is (except for adding posts) is already implemented and working correctlyI have a SQLExpress 2008 backendBlog posts are rendered on the page with full HTML markup within a label control.
All of the above is done and working. Though I am essentially new to creating websites with ASP.NET, CSS and SQL, I am sure that I could simply carry on and make a login page with some controls that would allow me to add records (blog posts) directly to the database on the host server. However, I am fearful of doing this because I know that malicious code can be passed in this way. Also, because of my lack of knowledge, the only way that I know of to pass the code from a control to the database is to disable validation for the page the control is on. Without a doubt I do not want to do that.
So what are my options for getting blog posts into the database? Is it safest for me to fully create the post in html and update a copy of the database that resides on my local machine? If I do it this way, how can I merge the records from the database on the local machine with the records on the remote server?

I need to test the counts shown in SSRS report. The report reads the counts from one of the tables.
I need to verify the counts shown in the report. For this I need to insert bulk records in the table (with different userid, datetime, etc).
How can I do this? I really don't want to do this manually.

I have an application which imports data from csv to sql server 2005. It is taking long time to import data from csv to sql server 2005. it has a timer. on tick of timer, I am checking if current rown in csv exists in database. If it exists, It is not added to sql server otherwise, It is added that row to sql server 2005. Also, In page load, It checks on each tick, whether user is logged in or not. it adds value to log file that user is logged in. How can I optimize this ?

In my project, I have a database in SQL which was working fine. But now I have to make the application support oracle db too.
Some limitations I found out was that in Oracle, there is no bit field and the table name cannot be greater than 30 char. Is there any other limitation that I need to keep in mind.

I have created an SSIS package to fetch the details from an Oracle database and import the details in to SQL servers table. In development region the client provided the connection description for oracle server as shown below: Using the above string
I have selected Microsoft OLE DB provider for Oracle and gave xxxxx:1543/AU1D as server name and provided the username and password. It got connected successfully. (DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS_LIST =(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = xxxxx.abc.XYZ.com)(PORT = 1543))
)(CONNECT_DATA = (SERVER=dedicated) (SID=AU1D) )) For Prod environment the Oracle servers connection description is: C10P =(DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = yyyyy.abc.XYZ.com)(PORT = 1524)) (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = zzzzz.abc.XYZ.com)(PORT
= 1524)) (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = vvvvv.abc.XYZ.com)(PORT = 1524)) (LOAD_BALANCE = yes)(CONNECT_DATA =(SERVICE_NAME = C10P. abc. XYZ.com)(FAILOVER_MODE=(TYPE=SELECT)(METHOD=BASIC)))) Now I don't have the SID to use in the connection.

I've developed a web app in Visual Studio 2008 using ASP.NET which connects to an Oracle database and a separate SQL Server 2005 database in the same application.
I want to convert this application to use SQL Server only. I have copied the Oracle tables that I need to SQL Server and am in the process of converting the SQL queries from Oracle format to SQL Server format.
I have also modified all the Connection Strings in web.config to point to the SQL Server database now and not the Oracle one.
However I have come across a problem. The TableAdapters are configured to use the OracleClient in the declarations code behind the scenes, i.e. it is "hard coded". But this causes problems of course while modifying/saving queries, because I don't want any trace of Oracle in my new web app.
The only thing I can think of is to delete all my TableAdapters and re-create them all.

We are working in a new N-Layered application with EF4 as ORM. As a requirement, we need to give support for both SQL Server and Oracle existing databases.
Our wish was to build a single EDMX model and then generate our business entities from a TT file.
The main problem was that database providers may generate different .NET types from our database field types. In this case, we'll have different EDMX models and then different auto-generated entities, which is more or less the same as have two different applications.
I don't know if we could have different SSDL files with specific database information (one for Oracle and another one for SQL Server) in separete files and share CDSL and MSL information for both databases.
Would be this solution possible?
Someone knows some other way to work with Oracle and SQL Server using EF4?

I have to automate one database process in .Net web applicaiton which uses Oracle 11g Database as Backend.
I need to know two things:
(1) How to check space on Oracle database server? I need space on server and not in the Database itself. My process creates few tables so I want to make sure that we have sufficient space before the process starts.
(2) Also I need to create script to backup Indexes and Triggers on the table so that I can recreate them after data transfer process is completed. Any idea how to create script form c# code?
