Is it possible to draw data from the database and put it straight into a label?
I just want to extract the id field from a table and display it in a label. I will only be drawing out the latest record using the SQL statement

I am making some application in asp.net 1.1 in that I am displaying data in datagrid from database. In data grid first column is of check box and radio button and in the last column we have text box now thing is that when i click on check box crosponding textbox we fill some figure and at the end we press calculate button to get total. After getting total we have to press continue button to go next step
But suppose if some body remove that check the we should press calculate button or chnage some figure in the text box then we should press calculate button again to recalculate. for that i kept autopost back on check box oncheckedchanged event and text box ontextchanged event and hide continue button so user will click calcutae button abd then continue button will re-apper
Problem it that it taking too much refresh and taking long time. So was lloking for some ajax method to use in my application.
I'm new for asp.net and web development at all.
I want to filter user input before putting to database.
Are there common technics for this?

I am fetching data from .xls file and storing it in to database. Then my users work on a single table where I stored all .xls data. But the problem is that it takes tooooo much time.. So, I want to use cache. But I never used this... Can any one tell me this example how can I use cache with database for increasing application speed?
View 2 RepliesI have created a SQL DB in Visual Web Developer Express Edition and i am using a aspx form with connection strings and grid views to call the information but the problem i have is that i wish to insert an image into the database and i have tried numorus ways and i can't seem to even put the image in the DB let alone call it in the grid view.
i'm not sure what datatype to select and i'm not sure what i'm supposed to write in the data field to call the image, can i use a image saved on my computer or have i got to use a image that is already posted on the internet some where?

i'm trying to retrieve the data from database using ssis package.. database name is employee which contains 48 tables and it is around 20GB of memory.. it is a production database..
now what i want is to retrieve the data for each four hours.. i.e i want to execute the package for every 4 hrs..
now what i did is i have taken a database transfer task and from the source i.e production database i want to transfer to my database which works fine..
but what is the problem here is for every 4 hrs whole DB is replaced in my system
i've given overwrite TRUE..
Here user enter the data into database for every 4 hour is minimum 10 MB of data.. instead for replacing the whole database for every 4 hrs is there any solution that what user enter data into database only that much amount of data should be append into my system..

I am trying to build a site that will display a word ("Synset" in my code) from a "function call", (ultimately the word will come from another database but I'm ignoring that part for now). The user will click one of 4 radio buttons deciding if the word is "positive", "negative", "neutral", or "can not be determined". Then the user clicks "Save" the word is saved a MS SQL database, the function is called displaying a new word and the process is repeated.
So far I have been able to get this to mostly work by using the code below. The problem is that the function is called and the correct word displayed when the page loads the first time, when I click a radio button and then the "Submit" button, the word and value from the radio button are saved to the database but then no new word is displayed. The text just disappears. The new word is created, as I can see that new words are saved to the database when i click submit.
I'm thinking the issue might be because I'm binding the text attribute of the label I'm using to display the word to the sqldatasource, because it's probably trying to display the text from the database?
I've tried putting the code that gets and displays the new word in FormView1_PageIndexChanging() and submitButton_Click() and neither work.
I've tried to just call Response.Redirect("Default.aspx") in submitButton_Click() and this displays the word but nothing is saved to the database.

I m getting data from webservice and putting in dataset. I m doing paging for that datagird.
OnPageIndexChanging is the event I m using. When I click on 2 in paging, no data is displaying but the grid is displaying.
I have a <%Bind("prict")%> and I want to put the word Pri: in front of it but, it even appears if this field is null. How do I do this?

I have been searching the net for quite a while and can't find an example of how to put a radiobutton or radiolist inside a formview. I have an objectdatasource that goes back to a table. One field in the table is Hydro -- which is an int field. There are three valid choices:

I have Template fields configured for Gridview. The gridview is using an objectdatabsource to bind itself. I have the gridview configured to use Templatefields which then contain tables to display the information. This works fine.
My question is, is it possible to change the text of the label if certain criteria is reached. If "NumberOfDwellings" is 1 then change the label to read, "1 Dwelling". Where-as if NumberOfDwellings has more than one then it's "3 Dwellings".

I'm using vs2008 and add a dropdown list in my page. Default value of this control is "Digital". When I select another value from the list and press a button, next time the page displaying the same value, i.e Digital, not the selected value. I just want to show the selected value on the page.

I am using grid view with row "data bound event" at row row data bound i am using some function with loops to fill drop down of grid view in template columns. grid view gets populated with selected index change event of drop down. my problem is the asp.net page is getting slower i mean when grid populates its taking some time and some time page get hanged what to do to get rid of it?
