View 2 RepliesI am using "cookies" to maintain session in my asp.net azure application.
What I want is that when a user logs in to my website and remains idle for 15 minutes it should automatically log them out and redirect them to the login page.
How can I achieve this?
I'm facing a great problem in session. My session expires after every 4-5 minutes. Firstly I checked my web hosting settings. I increased session timeout to 50000. In my web.config I wrote :
[Code]....
Also Locally it expires withing 5 minutes. Secondly can I also increase idle timeout.
I recently inherited an asp.net website made up of multiple .aspx and .ascx pages and being rather new to web development and especailly asp.net. I have the site create a cookie upon login to automatically log users back in if the page times out on them while they're entering information.
I need the site to automatically log users out when the site is closed. Obviously using the me.close event on each page won't work because we don't want it to log people out every time they navigate to a new page in the site.
I've tried setting the timeouts in both IIS and in the files of the website to longer but it doesn't seem to have an effect.
Is there an easy way to automatically log users out when they leave the site but not when they navigate from page to page.
I have two application (one of this is mojo portal): [URL] for some users when they login into "app" then the login in "mojo" doesn't work and viceversa. I've set the machinekey into web.config file. When the users remove all cookies and session data the login works again. The two application are into a Web Farm. Should be ARR the problem?
View 2 RepliesIs there room for issue in the following code in terms of multiple users of the same web application? I mean, I know that a purely static string will be shared across all sessions for a single ASP.NET application, but since this explicitly refers to the Current.Session, even though it is static it seems like it would always refer to the session instance of the "current user." But an error is happening that could be explained by everyone sharing the current value of Mode and thus the most recent change overwriting everyone else's mode value. (As a background: This string is in a Helpers class that is used throughout the application. I do not want to make references to Session["Mode"] throughout the application and do not want to have to pass Session["Mode"] in every method call from an aspx.cs page.)
public static string Mode
{
get
{
var value = HttpContext.Current.Session["Mode"];
return (value ?? string.Empty).ToString();
}
set
{
HttpContext.Current.Session["Mode"] = value;
}
}
how to close previous session for same user. If user logon on computer A and then logon on B i must close session for A.
View 1 RepliesIn my web application, I use an exit button which runs session.abandon to close the session and then close the browser. It does not work with multi-tabs in IE. If I open my application in two tabs, I click on the exit button in one tab which abandons the session and close the tab. But the application in another tab can still work. Is there any way to close the session for this application in all the tabs?

View 1 RepliesI'm creating a site. Below is my authentication tag and session tag in web.config
<authentication mode="Forms">
<forms protection="All" loginUrl="Pages/Log In/Login.aspx" name=".ASPXFORMSAUTH" cookieless="UseCookies" requireSSL="false"
defaultUrl="Pages/Common/Default.aspx" enableCrossAppRedirects="false" slidingExpiration="true" timeout="30"path="/">

<sessionState mode="InProc" timeout="30" cookieless="false" cookieName=".ASPSession"/>
And I have a custom Membership Providor....
<membership defaultProvider="SqlMemberShipProvider" userIsOnlineTimeWindow="15" hashAlgorithmType="">
<providers>

type="RoalManagement.SqlMemberShipProvider"
connectionStringName="SqlServices"
enablePasswordRetrieval="true"
enablePasswordReset="true"
requiresQuestionAndAnswer="true"
writeExceptionsToEventLog="true"
applicationName="OnlineOnTheWeb"

Now in login page after firsttime login i set some session data... like
protected void Login_LoggedIn(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
//.....
Session["EMPLOYEELOGGEDIN"] = "Y";
//.....
}
Now say i close the browser... and next time when i open the site it takes me directly to the default page [Login_LoggedIn is not called accordingly]... because i'm already logged in for 30 mins acc. to configuration. but as my session id gets changed i can't access Session["EMPLOYEELOGGEDIN"] from any page in this time. It always returns null. But how do i get back the previous session for that person?
On my web page, I've a shared object with initiate (open session) on the load event.
I would like to close this object when the page is close and invoke a close session method.

View 4 RepliesI want to show a popup about browser compatibility to the users visiting my website. I have used the popup in about 5 pages and it would be annoying for the users to see the same popup for more than once when they visit my website. So I am thinking to use a session and kill it when the user closes the poup. IT should not be shown until the browser is restarted.
