Security :: Grant Access To User Outside Of Active Directory?
Jun 9, 2010
I have a web app that uses AD to authenticate the user which works great. But i received a request where a user that is outside of the Ad needs access to the application.
Is there a way to add this user manually (Maybe in web.config) to allow them to access the application?
I wonder if it's possible to use .NET to get access to users in Active Directory: - Methods that returns a collection of users belonging to a specific AD group - Get access to AD propterties beloning to the user account, want to check if the user account is disabled or not
I have read countless forums and found nothing so for so apparently what I need is an unusual request.I need a code snippet that will iterate through an AD domain account and display all properties for a given user.Has anyone ever built such a script?
If there is a code snippet that displays just the available properties of a user object, this would be sufficient. I am trying to build an application to add users to our LDAP and need to populate all our specific values however I don't have the specific property names to populate.
I've written a small ASP.NET 3.5 application to allow users to update selected account attributes on their own. Everything works fine when I use Basic Authentication, but because the dialog that is presented is less than ideal, I'd like to use forms authentication to give the users more instruction on how to log in. My problem is that in order for the user to update their account information, I have to have the application impersonate them for the update actions. I've scoured the internet trying to find a solution to my issue, but nothing fits or works. I have tried setting the web.config:
[Code]....
I also tried using the LogonUser method to create a user token and backend the authentication that way, and it doesn't work either.
How to authenticate an user against a particular OU in Active Directory. If the AD holds 50 OUs I don't want to look into all 50 OUs , instead it should look into a particular OU( for eg: OU=dotnet users) to authenticate the user.
How to check if user is part of Active directory or not. I have a username, and i want to check if that user is available in the active directory. I am using .NET 4.0 version
i have a problem with the users authentication on my site. I made <authentication mode="Windows"> in my web.config. The LoginView shows "mycomputermyusername" if i request the page. So far as well. Now i want to login with a different username. Users are stored in an Active Directory. My questions: wich setting i have to do, that user's account and password checked by Active Directory? how can i force the system to make a new login? Logout doesn't work, i always see my on account.

I create a website to add user in active directory. I have 3 file:
1.Default.aspx - Let user fill their privacy information
2.ViewRegisterdata.aspx - Let user confirm their information before it's added to active directory. In this file, there is a Viewregisterdata.aspx.cs which collect user information and send to Class1.cs when users click confirm button.
3.Class1.cs - Do the process in adding user in active directory
I have a problem with a second and third files. When I run the website and go to a second page that is a ViewRegisterdata.aspx and then press a confirm button,it shows an error.
Although I inactivate a code section that do adding user to active directory and write a code to show a value that is sent from A ViewRegisterdata.aspx,It still shows a ViewDataregister.aspx and not show a Windows console. It seems it cannot send user information from a ViewRegisterData.aspx despite I include a Class1.cs into the file already
I am using System.directory services namespace in framework 2 to query active directory. I have used fixed user account impersonisation in the web.config file, find the code:
I have disabled anonymous access in IIS. Also i have given Read & write access to the account tang09 for the website virtual directory and Microsoft.NET folder located in windows folder. But still i get prompted for the domain username and password to access the website.
I have a database with tons of SP. Is there a way to grant a new user access to all SP so the user can execute then?If the SP inserts data in a table do I have to grant the the user that executes the SP so he/she is allowed to insert data
I want to grant access to some ressources located on server only for specified web pages, how could I do this?
For example I have an image www.mysite.com/images/image.jpg and something like <img src="www.mysite.com/images/image.jpg" /> should only work on site asp.net.
Is it possible with web.config or maybe with some C# code?
I want to learn how to add/delete/update account (including adding mail boxes for new users). Can someone point to a good book where I can begin from. I want to start with some real basics and build from there.
have a probleme with my search filter, i want to list the users of an organizational unit result.filter =(& (objectClass= user)(ou=dep1)); ====> it didn't work for me
I need to list a group of users, their group name is (IRS Group) to a list group. how to do this. I'm very new to asp.net and dont have much knowlegde about acctive directory.
I am updating some CS code that was written in 2004, and that references some assemblies which extract user data from AD by query filtering on the user's title. I can't test my updated code in VS2010 because the assemblies no longer compile - the references are no longer valid (I can't create a DirectoryEntry or DirectorySearcher) so I need to work out how to replace the code with current directoryservices.accountmanagement namespace properties and methods. I have searched around but don't seem to be getting anywhere. give me some code that will work with vs 2010 to replicate the following:
