I have a database with tons of SP. Is there a way to grant a new user access to all SP so the user can execute then?If the SP inserts data in a table do I have to grant the the user that executes the SP so he/she is allowed to insert data

I have a web app that uses AD to authenticate the user which works great. But i received a request where a user that is outside of the Ad needs access to the application.
Is there a way to add this user manually (Maybe in web.config) to allow them to access the application?
I want to grant access to some ressources located on server only for specified web pages, how could I do this?
For example I have an image www.mysite.com/images/image.jpg and something like <img src="www.mysite.com/images/image.jpg" /> should only work on site asp.net.
Is it possible with web.config or maybe with some C# code?
the following will clearly show the steps i have taken to achieve a connectivity to database "123" such that the remote user who is using sql login verification can do whatever he wants with the "123" database, and thee remote user cannot change anything of any other database.

I have built a web app and want the user to be able to select, update, delete, add data as well as execute stored procedures, I thought that I would get this from the db_datareader and db_datawriter roles but I get an error when trying to select data etcFor instance I get an error when trying to run the stored procedure ups_AddCustomer when the user has the assigned roles db_datareader & db_datawriter but it works fine when the db_dbowner but i would rather not have the page user having full access to the database.

Everything works fine during development. When I publish to local computer IIS, I cannot open the excel file. The error is:

After all the settings, I do restart computer. All the steps taken just cannot resolve the problem.

I deployed a website where a logged user or an anonymous user can select data and download a XML file. The website generate the XML file in the server and then deliver it.
It works fine in my development environment, but after deployment, the anonymous user can download the file, but the logged user receive this error:
System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path 'd:HostsLocalUserheringerwebsiteUpload20110107094051.xml' is denied.
It is weird that as anonymous i can do it.
The website server help states this:
"Grant write, modify, delete access rights on website's folder
Your website executes under unique user account that by default has full control over the website's folder.
So your application can create, open, read, write and delete files and folders inside of your root folder.
There is no need and no way to change this permissions.
If, when running ASP.Net application, you still unable to create file or update it, you have to check your Web.Config file for "<Identity impersonate..." tag and remove it.
The only exception is when the application tries to modify a file or folder in "Application_Start" event of Global.asax file. This is by design that user authenticated only after the Application_Start even. Before the user is authenticated your website runs under an identity of Application Pool which is "Network services". That account doesn't have access to the folder of your website.
To make it work you eather have to move the code that tries to modify files or folders out of the "Application_Start" event of the Global.asax file or inside the event you'll need to impersonate your user by code."
But i am not using impersonate and the tag is not in my web.config.
I have wav/mp3 files that I want to grant access to only users after signing into my webapp. I have the user credentials being checked through a mySQL db. I do not want the files to be able to be accessed by url. I have found that adding the mime type to the web.config section at

will disallow access to the files by url, but how can I allow access programmically to the files after signing in?? Currently using godaddy hosting.
I've created a login page but when I try to sign in with user name and password, it will not execute.I've gone over the process numerous times and have deleted the user (me) and re-created the user (me).Does anyone have any clues as to what I might be over-looking.

View 2 RepliesI have an MVC 3 application which uses asp.net authentication. I have just created a custom errors controller and a couple of views for unknown errors and 404's. This works fine when I am logged into the application but if an internal server error happens during logon I would like to display the error/unknown view. However I just keep getting redirected back to the login as I am not authenticated.
I have added a location path for 'Views/Error' to my Web.config to allow access to all users but I am guessing it's the controller access that is causing the redirection.
Is there any way you can allow this in MVC or do I need to think of another solution? Just did not want to add a generic message to the login page as that's what my unknown error view is for.

The condition is like this:
1 I make my website connect to a remote sql server.
2 This sql server makes only access to a count, such as 'sa' and its password is 'sapw'
3 I write the connect string in web.config like this :

But the error says "Login failed for user 'machinename'". How could I make my website access to the sql server with the account of "sa"?
I'm trying to access an SQL Server Express database out of an ASP.NET HTTP request handler. The handler is run under ASPNET account and uses "integrated security" in the SQL connection string and so I get an error message saying that login for ASPNET account failed and so I can't access the database. This seems to be a very common problem and most answers say "grant access to you database to user ASPNET".
I only have Visual Studio 2008 and I can't find how to change access permisssions for a database. Specifically I use Tools->Server Explorer and I can see all the tables in the database but can't find how to change access permissions. How do I change access permissions to my database using tools shipped within Visual Studio 2008?
I have a GridView of thumbnail photos within an UpdatePanel, with clickable icons in each row which each load a User Control containing a small Google Map into the relevant row. The idea is that the user can geotag (by clicking on the map) any photo in the GridView.
In the map User Control, there is some Javascript initialising the map:

Problem is: I don't know how to call the initializeMap() method. Because it's dynamically added to the page, any attempt to link it to the calling button by "onClientClick=initializeMap()" for example, gives a JS error, saying the method isn't defined.
I've tried

but I don't think I'm on the right track with that one either.

View 1 RepliesI have a user control (ascx file) that contains an interface for users to change the data retrieved from the db. So, I am displaying data and most of this data can be edited by the user. When the user enters text into a textbox, and clicks "Save Changes", the value they typed in is lost and not persisted to the database. I realize now this is because the SaveChanges button does a postback, and the user control gets reloaded with its original valuesbefore the code within my SaveChanges button gets executed. I'm not sure if there are properties I need to set to save the input data, or if I need to write my own code to do it. What is the generally accepted method to do this? (Also, all of the controls in the ascx file are wrapped in an Update Panel.)

If I have another user control, ucChild, inheriting from ucBase, the label in ucBase's code is always null. ucChild has no controls in its ascx fileThe server controls (like the label) needs to be declared in the ascx file and not created programmatically.What needs to be done for ucBase to see its own controls when it's a parent user control?
i have an asp.net project in vs2010 i have a db and table inside the app_data folder, i have created a deployment package and have imported the package into an iis server that is installed on my local mechine.

when running it inside VS2010 it`s working fine.

It's easy to give permitions to that user, but I want the SQL Server to be logged on with the ASP.NET page User Login and not da Application Pool User. It is. if the user DomainUser1 gets logged in. View 3 RepliesI want to use a couple of instances of the same control on a page. The user control is intended to display a list of records in a repeater. The aim is that the second control will show a list excluding the IDs in the first control The control has a number of public properties, including IDsInThisList, and IDstoExclude. The query will exclude the IDs in the second property.
What I would like to do is get the record IDs from the first instance of the control (IDsInThisList), and pass them to the second contro as the IDsToExclude.
I have a test page where I am setting the properties of the controls in code. As you might guess, it's not working! The first control displays the top 3 items, as desired, but the second display the records 1-7, rather than records 4-10 because it is not receiving the IDstoExclude from the first control When I response write the IDstoExclude from the first control in my testpage, the string is empty. (if I do it from within the control, it shows the IDs)
How can I get the controls to fire in order and pass values to each other?
